Our game with Stockport looks the standout there. 3 wins on the bounce for us, but in 3 games you would expect a promotion chasing side to win. This will be a real test.

Hopefully Mullin continues to get fitter, we are a different side with him in the starting XI.

One of the biggest mysteries this season seems to be why are so Salford so shit, but has anyone asked why aren't Crawley so shit? Weren't they supposed to be relegated already? When I looked at the fixtures I thought "well at least we have Crawley at home after Gillingham, Bradford and Wrexham" but defeats to two of the current top three aside they're not only getting results, they're also starting to hit the back of the net on the regs. Hopefully we've got Eisa and Rose back as while we struggle for goals with them, without them we may as well just shut up shop and go for a 0-0.

Colchester at home. Given our home form, I expect a win here but knowing this team they'll be losing at the break before the late show sees us get a point or three.

In all seriousness, Colchester's style of play being slow and possession based will suit us. We'll get plenty of space to play and overwhelm them. If Shilow Tracey is back for this game it'll be a welcome bonus, even if he only comes off the bench. Got to be targeting 3 points here and nothing less. Just need to also eradicate these slow starts we're having if we're serious about a Top 7 finish this season.

Don't see us getting anything at Wrexham and a well organised Gillingham who have a good record against us of late will be a tough test too, so have to be winning this game.

Troy Deeney at the San Sirrel on Saturday, has he looked any good or is he just a cart horse these days?

Another tough game for the Alex. Colchester look like they're turning a corner results wise, 1 defeat in their last 4, almost beat Mansfield yesterday. We're going to need most of the players to up their game, because yesterday was really poor on the whole. Hopefully being back at home helps that. Not sure what team I'd play until we know the extent of Tracey's recovery and O'Riordan's issue that forced him off yesterday. Could do with a win as we have Wrexham the following weekend and I'd be shocked if we got a result there.

Wrexham's cup final this. Parky will have them lined up in suits getting off the coach etc.

It will be a good test for our young players. The two previous National League Champions but that is probably where the similarities start and end. Two very different approaches.

I imagine the Wrexham supporters and the neutrals expect a comfortable away win and to win at a canter. It will be fascinating to see if Phil Parkinson can deliver.

Third season in a trot I’m away for Barrow at home, probably a good thing considering the results in the past two.

If there’s going to be 1 side to put an end to this run it’ll be barrow, either that or we’ll absolutely leather them. To make 10 games unbeaten in league and cup at the start of the season is some going.

Really poor yesterday and certainly missed maris, you could see clough was seething yesterday after the game and he’ll be wanting a response as he won’t tolerate that showing at home.

Don't know about Salford but we are like chalk and cheese from last season. In all honesty we were by far the worst team I saw last season (Grimsby were the best) and we have not been great shakes since we were relegated from league 1. At the moment we look like a team and are playing attractive passing football.

I dont think we will get promoted but it's a pleasure to go and watch us and its been a while since I've said that.

Far from it, most of us will be expecting a tough match.

2 impressive away wins on the bounce for County, things clicking into place right before they face us?

Wouldn't say clicking into place, everything always looks a bit better after a couple of wins though. We do have threats going forward, Barry's trickery and Olaofe's pace could cause your backline problems I reckon. But we do have issues, particularly at the back and we've been chopping and changing formations and line ups due to a lot of injuries. But we may have settled on a formation to get the best out of the players currently available the last two games.

Two seasons ago both ourselves and Stockport (the pre season favourites) had started slowly and we went to their place at a similar stage to the season. We went one up in the first minute but Stockport came back into it and eventually won 2-1. Seemed to kick start their season and soon after they went onto a huge unbeaten run that ultimately ended up with them winning the league.

I hope that doesn't happen this time.

That was still under Rusk and was probably a false dawn. Challinor came in a month or so later and that was the catalyst. Our fans really should be more grateful to him to be honest, he's done a great job here.

I remember thinking you were really poor that day, in fairness to yourselves you probably improved as much as us as that season went on but just started your revival a bit later which cost you. You have brought obvious quality in but looking at your side from that time, Mullin, Hayden, Tozer, Young there is still a solid spine that is similar. Same with us really with Hinchliffe, Croasdale, Collar, Madden etc.

I'd forgotten about Rusk. God he was terrible.

I’ve no idea who was doing the stats yesterday but I think they must’ve been asleep half the time. We are still wide open at the back but for me that’s more to do with our poor midfield. The positive from the game was that we kept going right until the end. It will be interesting to see how we fare if we ever have a fully fit squad to choose from

We seem to struggle down at Newport and can't see that changing. 2-0 Newport.

More cannon-fodder for Notts County then.

Every time I look at the fixtures they've got a struggling tinpotter next.

It's L2 it's full of tinpotters. Law of averages, so shouldn't be surprised.

You will be pleasantly surprised in October where we play a combination of big boys promotion favourites including yourselves, tricky awkward tinpot sides and a local derby (not a rivalry of course) which we are guaranteed to not win even at fortress Meadow Lane. Very tough looking month.

It does look a tougher month for you but at least you'll finally get a few more home games

It looks a hard month but we played very well on Friday. If the form book holds, ( my betting history says it doesn't ) we should win on Saturday and if we can come through October still in the top seven I'd be very happy.

That's my current thoughts too, easy start on paper but not many sides are going to accumulate more against the same opposition in the same fixtures this season.

I'm officially upgrading my 'happy just to be here' attitude already to a 'well we ain't struggling this season not with this squad' stance.

Will review after the tough October fixtures.

Hard game. Stockport picked up 2 very good wins in their last 2. If we play like we did Saturday we'll have a chance. Although if we let Stockport have as much ball as Grimsby I'd fancy them to do something with it. Would take a point now.

Stockport 3 Wrexham 2

Donny away for us - In news that will excite absolutely no-one, our last 4 meetings with Donny have all finished 1-0 either way, so I'll go with the same again. Looks to be a good weekend to win though with several of the early pace-setters having games against sides in the bottom third of the table.
