I think we would let Ryan Loft go if someone comes in for him. I see he has been on loan at Carlisle before
It wouldn't shock me if we had him off you. He seems very up and down but he's always looked good against us. He would suit our formation too.

I hope he’s improved since we had him! But I assume he has given that you paid actual money for him.

He looked decent for a short spell then got injured and didnt get anywhere near it since. Still has the worst first touch ive ever seen

Ah. Still the same player we had by the sounds of it then.

Saturday should be a good barometer to start to gauge what sort of team we have this year, after a fairly erratic and sometimes frustrating first few games. Whilst we tanked Orient 4-0 in our last away match, the performance didn't merit the result and was fairly fortuitous.

If we are serious promotion contenders then we should be going to places like Stevenage and getting a result. With four ex Pompey players in their side, they'll be right up for it.

Yengi out injured has meant we've lost the ability to switch things up top and put teams under increasing pressure at the latter stages of games if we're pushing for a winner (or equaliser), and was evident against Cheltenham (and Fulham u21's to a degree). Our new wide men in Scully and Whyte need to now start making a real impact in games, after fairly quiet starts.

Positive hat on though. 1-2.

First time in ages we've not had a "sell out" home crowd - Slowly drifting back to our old ways after a slow start

The games with Cambridge are always good ones (M11 Derby), hoping we have a few bodies back after a week of no midweek games. Players getting concussed, illness and 3 are long term injuries - including Dan Agyei which has clearly been a huge blow to us have hurt us so far.

We have pace in our team, but loan striker Joe Piggott has struggled to fit into our side IMO, he's not a quick high pressing striker which we've been acustomed to under Wellens, we're working on signing Charlie Kelman but QPR want a certain fee for him.

Sam Howes was alot better in goal last week for us, but he's still nowhere near as good as Sol Brynn who needs to get fit asap. I don't think the defence truely trusts Howes, was always likely to happen after the last 3 seasons of having such a good, steady and imposing keeper in Vigs.

We've only scored in 1 game so far, so if we want to get anything we will need to take our chances and take more risks. We will no doubt get caught over playing by pissing around with it at the back too much like we always do and Cambridge are probably more likely to punish us than Blackpool did last week. Alot of our younger players are learning about this level on the job.

I'm still not to confident of us getting anything unless our luck changes tbh.

Fleetwood away.

Much needed firepower up top has finally arrived after going the first 5 games with just two strikers, I expect one of Mata or Phillips will start tomorrow afternoon up top alongside Dan Udoh.

We need to bounce back from a disappointing result last weekend, and on paper this is certainly a very winnable game (I’m sure Fleetwood would say the same), reckon first goal is important in this one as I can’t see it being high scoring.

Fleetwood 0-1 Salop (Mata)

Yep agree with all of that, we need some good fortune at some point - still fuming about the stonewall penalty not given up at Blackpool, but nothing to be done about it. Hopefully it averages out over the course of the season but it's been nothing but injuries and bad luck on the pitch so far.

We will narrow lose tomorrow, 1 point from 5 games...

A sell out tomorrow, should be a great atmosphere. Nombe should get a good reception and hopefully a hat trick!

Tbf to Lofty, he was class in L2 and especially that 3-1 win at Vale. That final goal at 3-1 wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Prem.

L1 he’s looked ok at times but just a bit off the boil. There’s a L1 player in there, just not sure we have the squad/time to develop him into one.

Without a replacement I would not be happy to let him go

As you say, great finish for that 3rd goal, so there's obviously a decent touch in there somewhere. I think he would benefit from some one to one coaching and with the greatest of respect, I don't anticipate that Barton is one to really look to develop individuals.

He didn't do too badly with rookies Harry Souttar, Elliot Anderson, Luca Hoole and Connor Taylor. As for Loft he doesnt make any sort of impression the rare times he starts or from the bench, need better for top end of L1.
You would think someone who plays football all week would have basic ball control but alas its severely lacking with Loft

Fair point, although they were already very technically gifted players who didn't really need coaching. Perhaps I've got him all wrong but I can see him being frustrated with players that were not as good as him.

Maybe, although the likes of Connor Taylor and Luke Thomas have signed for Barton permanently after loan spells here so he can't be all bad, plus we have Bogarde back on loan from Villa who is developing well.

Tbf I’d say that’s really wrong with Barton. Most players he’s brought in has performed better under Barton than previous.

Think it’ll be another defeat today.

But hopefully we will finally get the player we need over the next week as like I’ve said i think we’re one quality attacking player away from being able to cope at this level as in staying up.

Hopefully, Carlisle concentrate more on the defensive side today.
All this talk of lack of goalscorers but our defence needs shaking up too.
As much as I like Huntington, I feel he's a yard to slow nowadays.

Couple of injuries today, no Jones or Grant which is a blow so young James Plant covering LWB which isn’t ideal.

Garrity dropped is a surprise but looks like it’s to put Massey as a more offensive line up. Devine on the bench who could be one of the signings of the summer and despite big worries Chislett is fit to start.

Ellis Harrison not starting or on the bench despite training this week suggests he is off pending a new striker coming in.

Defensively that’s a bit worrying. Plant isn’t a wing back and Cass has struggled. Need a LWB and striker this week.

Imagine both teams will be circling this fixture today thinking they can win. Noticed that Cheltenham have yet to even score so far this season, lets hope that continues past today. Narrow Cobblers win today.

That him off you reckon? To be fair Reading we’re extremely toothless against us.

Interesting one. Holy was awful for us but loved Edmondson, not necessarily the best striker but his attitude along with Harratt as a loan player was outstanding and gave everything for us. Would get a good reception if he comes on I would expect.

Notice Butterworth not starting too.

He's on the bench so assume he has a knock somehow. If we weren't sure about needing extra fire power today has just proved it.
