It wasn't a 5-2 game at all. Harsh on you that scoreline. I thought first half you ran allover us and pressed superbly. Just a bit of quality missing when it matters, and naturally tired later from the effort put in. I've seen a lot of Marcus Dackers in the national league and whilst he looks the part and tries hard, he's not a goalscorer. Did give Araujo a torrid time first half though and Cook wasn't afraid to make that change early. I've seen worse teams than you this season though, and I think if you can just tidy up a bit in both boxes you'll be fine. Our subs changed the game, and I think could carry us a fair way this season.
You are right about Dackers definitely not a goal scorer has had a few good chances in previous games and fluffed them all ,upto that 3 rd goal and your substitutions it was a fairly matched game ,must say thank you to Tom Naylor he must really hate playing us ,I think upto now he has scored 4or 5 own goals conceded 2 penalties and been sent off 1 time hope he plays when we meet again

Every week I think it can’t get any worse and every week it does.
Biggest bunch of poofters I have ever seen wear our shirts.
Hutton is great going forward but an awful defender. Just look at how he is jogging back to the goal when its obvious the balls going to be stood up to the back post for Smith. He didnt even make an effort to challenge Smith which is exactly how he defended for us.

He’s talking about a DVD for Grimsby fans. The fact they only lost 1-3 should be celebrated as we said. Our fans don’t give a shit that we beat that nonentity yesterday really so doubt they would buy such an item, especially with DVD’s in decline as people have moved to streaming.

In other news, surprised there were no half and half commemorative scarves on sale yesterday given the occasion. A hell of a turnout of 5,500 home fans deserved something to remember it by.

Yeah, fully agreed. Crowley is clearly our best player, but it smacked you in the face today how much sharper we moved the ball forward without a guy getting on it and doing four pirouettes and three Cruyff turns before passing it on.
He's not our best player. Bass, Jatta, Abbott, Bedeau, Platt are all consistently better. Crowley has drifted his whole career, having one stellar season in L2 where he had a defined and specific role just behind the strikers.
Maynard needs to get Crowley back in that position and make sure he sticks to it and not let him play like a schoolboy doing whatever he fancies all over the pitch.

Don't forget the large proportion of 'no shows' which would bolster the home attendance to comfortably over 6,000 if they could ever bother to turn up.

Tbh that's a decent Town attendance and about par for the course this season.

It isn’t t just him though mate.
The last few weeks the players are strolling round like they don’t give a flying fuck.
The manager has been backed and it looks a very good squad for this level.
It is a an attitude thing for sure.
Something at the club is clearly not right and it needs fixing quick because the very least us fans demand, and deserve, is the players showing some effort and desire. Not too much to ask is it?

I only know because I have got into the sad habbit of counting the seats on the online ground map at 2pm every Saturday because i'm interested in the disparity between seats sold and people in the ground i think i will continue through the season just for my own curiousity - I reckon Accrington on a Tuesday night soon will be a new low and maybe less there than season tickets

Looks like a nasty injury for Wyke.

That was never a red lol. Just a regular mistimed tackle and unfortunate injury
I’ll have to see it again, but from where I was sat he looked like he came straight through the back of Wyke with both feet. Even if it was just a yellow, he should have had another before his substitution.

Don't knock them. It's money the club wouldn't have if they were casual attendees who bought tickets for each match they attended.

If only football was that simple.

Anything can happen in our game. All form goes out of the window for me. It's a local game that can have a multitude of outcomes.

As for Walsall. We may as well give them the points now. We could be 20 points clear at the top and they'd still beat us. If we beat them, then I'll truly believe.
We are in great form but it has to end sometime, we can’t keep it up forever and will have bumps so always a chance, we won’t take anyone lightly though. Every game as I keep saying is tough it’s in own right, no gimmies.

Fairly routine win against a shite Tranmere. As soon as we realised that the way to beat them was to never let the ball go above waist height, it was stupidly straightforward. They're all 6 foot 3+ cloggers so once we started playing our actual game it wasn't really difficult to score past them at all. The only surprise was it took so long to seal the deal.
Saunders is a midget and neither Jennings nor Patrick are giants, we'd have been better opting for an obvious target man up front given that approach. Sadly have to agree with the rest.
Comfortable win in the end vs a poor Tranmere. How there opening goal was aloud to stand il never know. Looked like a massive push in the back to me.

After the FA cup game next week its a really interesting run of fixtures for us that will test to see where we are at this season, Walsall (A) Notts County (H) Vale (A) if we can get through that with around 5 or 6 points I'd be over the moon.
Agree that more often than not there would be a decision in favour of the defending side for our goal. Possible foul in the build-up to Crewe's third too, so at least the ref was being consistent in letting things go.

Surprised the number of SWA that travelled given the £28 admission and our dire record at Crewe. I saved my money and was glad when saw the starting xi. Adkins had chopped and changed again and none of the better players v Grimsby [Wood, Morris and Norris] were in the team. Predicted the outcome earlier on the thread when I saw the Rovers side. Think there is potential for the atmosphere to turn toxic if we lose to Micky Mellon's Oldham side in the cup next weekend.

Really?! God. Think it’s his first own goal for us. You’re his personal bogey team!

Well and truly beaten yesterday, full credit to Doncaster though from our point of view to compare us to school boy footballers would’ve been an insult to school boys.
I wouldn’t be against a shift in formation after recent weeks, the lack of a second central midfielder when Corey Evans is sat on the bench whilst another wobbly pass out of defence gives the ball away for the umpteenth time is getting beyond frustrating. I did enjoy the Cook/Oliver/Kavanagh direct play combination that won everything when finally thrown together at the end although probably not a trio that will ever start together. The number of injuries whilst allowing us to put out a decent enough starting 11 is most noticeable from the standard coming off the bench, similarly if the answer is starting the likes of Tyler Smith then you can’t look any where near the automatic spots.

Yep not really interested in comment's like we should've got something out of the Port Vale game . We didn't and it was the same at Notts County last week. The bottom line is it's 4 defeats out of 6 away game's. Not good enough .

You've had some pretty tough away games in fairness and you'll easily beat some of the shite away from home.

What I would say is that your manager did that typical thing of bigging you up. He said you were the better team for 80 minutes, which is just not true. Certainly for the last 10 minutes after we'd taken off our best forward and our captain but after half time, until your goal, nothing really happened. We could and probably should have scored 3 or 4 in the first half too. I'd say it was probably a game worthy of a draw but when a manager starts making stuff up I would be a bit concerned.

We didn't really play anywhere near our best yesterday but still found a way to win...bodes well.

Is it an attitude problem Gary? I remember thinking when you came to us that you came not to lose(and succeeded). Your organisation was impressive but another top team, Donny, came to beat us(and succeeded).

Possibly but we had a go at Notts.County last week. It's true to say in earlier game's we probably set up not to lose. I suppose you could say that 3 of the six teams we've played away will be up there at the end of the season in Notts County,Bradford and Port Vale. On the flip side we've won all our 5 home game's but 3 of them are poor sides in Carlisle, Morecambe and Colchester. MK as expected due to their budget will be up there and Fleetwood are decent. Our squad is ok and I still expect us to be there or thereabouts.

Felt like you gave it a real go yesterday but you simply can't concede 3 goals against top of the league and expect to get anything from the game. Hippolyte is very good, expected more from Tilley, he was quiet on the day and got subbed. Stevens as always does nothing but then was inches from scoring. Bugiel a handful but didn't really look like scoring. Some absolute monsters in that team that are going to out muscle a lot of teams.

Fair play to you though because a lot of teams would have conceded 5 or 6 after going 2 down so early.

Your manager should have been talking about the defending really and the poor goalkeeping display. A few long balls to really physical lads and a bit of penalty box pinball doesn't really make up for the 3 goals.

To be fare up until yesterday our keeper and defence have played well and conceded very few goals. I didn't watch the game but I believe Johnson had a poor game and was at fault. He'll probably be on the bench next game. Sometimes it happens and you have a poor game defensively. Anyway onto MK in the cup next Sunday so another easy game !!!!!

The only thing I'll say, and I aren't trying to wind anyone up, but if you finish above us this season, enjoy League One.
I don't think anybody will be disagreeing with this to be fair given your current form and your knack of beating other top teams seemingly every week.
Although I do remember in 05/06 we played Wycombe at home of a Friday night and at half time in that game (they tore us a new arsehole for 45 mins) I said anybody finishing above that Wycombe team would be going up.
They finished 5th, we finished 4th, and Cheltenham did us both in the play offs and went up instead.

Which is funny because I remember being completely outplayed at Blundell Park in April of that season (1-0) and praying Grimsby went up automatically so that we didn't meet them in the playoffs.

It helped that Russell Slade had already made his escape plans and didn't give a shit about taking Grimsby up by the time of the playoff final.

On a similar vein i was happy to be playing Cheltenham in the final instead of Wycombe because I thought we would lose to Wycombe but beat Cheltenham easily.

We have played 8 of the top 11 already , Town fans seem to forget how difficult our start has been .
I am still in the camp who think our points haul doesn’t reflect our performances. We probably have at least 6 more points than we should.

These ‘easier’ games on the horizon doesn’t sit well with me. Every game can be tough, even more so this season. I just can never see Grimsby scoring enough goals to be near the playoffs, coupled with an error prone defence makes me think 12th would be an outstanding return
