I saw that the other day and I didn't even think it was a foul. Then yesterday the exact same thing happened and the ref didn't give it. Naturally, having got one the other day, the MK team and fans were furious.

Was very soft and changed the game, we go down to ten and MK go 1-0. You’re always up against it from there.

Tom_ITFC Actually just seen it back and your player (Woolfenden?) shoves Thomas first straight into your other defender.

You’re right, couldn’t see that from the sky camera view, a lot further back.

Think your manager needs to get over himself though, saying we had 12 men. The ref had a poor game for both sides.

Yeah. Just emotions taking over I guess.

Difference being, Vale staying up would be an achievement with only just getting promoted last season.

We’ve been here 8 consecutive seasons now so it’s fair to say we’re an established League 1 club. We spent a tidy amount in the summer (nowhere near to the extent of your Sheffield Wednesday’s, Derby’s, Ipswich’s, Pompey’s, etc) but still it’s a big budget. Club openly came out saying that they wanted at least a top half finish with a push for play offs. If we weren’t decimated with injuries (especially losing our top scorer Udoh for the season very early on) then I’d say that we would probably be even higher. We’re not happy with just staying up anymore as supporters as we know we can be up there as we have done in the not too distant past.
To be fair we’ve not exactly been stingy ourselves, we’ve spent fees on many of the signings (all be it undisclosed) and 100k on a loanee.

The difficulty for Shrewsbury and the play offs is that last year was a freak year and most years you’d have survived by the skin of your teeth on 50 points and 33 points off last season is a huge turn around to make them in 12 months.

At the moment it’s a big ask be it for Shrewsbury or Vale with our realistic budgets compared to the big guns but as fans we have to dream big I guess or what’s the point!

It does look at the moment like this season is going to have a more even keel about it, three of the four coming up look far stronger than the four who went down and the top group who went up seems stronger than a couple of the relegation sides, add in a far weaker MK and Wycombe (crazily MK have already lost more this season than in the whole of last season!) so it’s set to be more open.

I’m surprised at how quick we’ve settled, as you all saw we were quite a nervous set of fans a few weeks ago but a decent 5 game spell has settled the nerves.

This is the table from this point game wise last season.

It seems very similar to this seasons table

Illustrious…hmmm I’m not so sure about that.

Bankrolled with fraudulent money isn’t something to be proud of. Once the fraud has enough and by the sounds of it that could be next season you’ll be heading down the leagues.

When was he convicted of fraud? Or is it just you being a bad loser just because you lost your cup final?

Not much difference at all to last season. This league will start to have a big split towards Christmas where the top 14/15 will drift away from the bottom 9/10.

With a couple of home games on the spin, we need to be taking a minimum of 4 points or we just won’t ever catch up.

Looks like the top 3 or 4 will boost away from the rest. The other places are up for grabs right down to about 18th. Think it will be a tighter league other than the top 3 or 4 this season.

I wouldn’t write us out of the title race just yet. If it wasn’t for bad luck, bad refereeing and injuries we’d be winning every week, apparently.

Not sure how well we played against Bristol Rovers, honestly. They wanted to play out from the back and it led to a lot of opportunities for us so it was hard to judge. I'd have been a bit frustrated if I was supporting them. It seemed like a system that is put in place to bring on the development of players rather than getting a result on the day. McGoldrick had a good day.

The worry is that we seem to hell bent on setting the record for penalties conceded - we've conceded more penalties in the last 4 games than any other club in English football has all season.

Poor starting line up from Barton tbh. We have had a lot of injuries in the last week but he played a 2nd choice RB as CB when there were 2 CB's on the bench.
We looked more assured when Connolly came on but the game was lost at that point. Fair play to Derby though the front line was the difference

There was a lot of Cambridge fans on here before Saturdays game...all very quiet now apart from one extra strange one accusing the Posh chairman of being convicted of fraud?

Poor losers perhaps....personally I enjoyed the game. A comical own goal by an ex-Cobbler to win the game, being the highight.

No sore losers on this site, we’re all straight talking and call it how it is.

As for the game, not a lot between the sides and the way our luck is going at the minute was summed up by Jones own goal.

On another day we have drawn that but it wasn’t to be, up front your very good but can see why you concede so many.

Perhaps you are too busy fighting toilets to notice, but we are 10th best in the division in terms of goals conceded and have conceded 10 less than the toilet smashers?

You make your own luck. Why on earth would two players on the same team challenge each other for a header?

Given the chants by some of the Posh fans about Simon Dobbin, I'd suggest taking the high ground over some vandalism is a bit rich.

I wonder if those chants were, worse, on the same level or not as bad as the sex offender / partying when Barry Fry dies chants ...or indeed whether they worse than smashing up the toilets at the stadium?
