It's pretty clueless to take off one striker for another when you're against 10 for the entire match. Plymouth fans i've spoken to have all said Jephcott needs to play with a partner. The club should know that when they bring him in. Perfect opportunity to put him up there with Wakeling today and take a midfielder off. Didn't do it and we barely threatened.

The lack of urgency is baffling. Should have been putting them under as much pressure as possible. Players either unwilling or instructed not to take any risks.

Pretty dire stuff. Will get ugly quickly i think.
if you put Jeffers up on his own, as you are implying I’d be gobsmacked if it works. Give him a striker partner, get him in the box, cross the ball and voila.

Gills fans how did Ryan Law do?

We handled Cook well today apart from switching off once and he scored he didnt cause us the problems he usually has in recent years need these 2 new players we have some very raw young players at the moment.
Fair play today and credit where it's due, you turned up trying to win the game and for most parts of the game you were the better side without doubt. Unfortunately you seem to lack a striker to take advantage of some of your good build up play. We were definitely under par today without doubt, but in Cook up front we have a striker who's far from the best footballer but just knows where the net is. It was an entertaining game today despite us being on the back foot a lot and a refreshing change to what we've seen at VP this season with teams parking the bus. But having said that it was your attacking approach today that cost you the game as both our goals came from a break away attack, and based on our performance today if you'd have turned up and parked the bus you would have easily come away with a point. But as I said full credit and a good performance from your side today, and if you play to that level every week you're in the play offs for sure.

Really enjoyed the game today; we never win in Newport! Best I've seen us 'live' for some time.

Newport very one dimensional with long throws and pumping the ball into our penalty area at the earliest opportunity all afternoon; percentage game not working today for them; out played and out gunned (by a 'rampant' Grimsby side).

There was a foul. Fair play Mansfield we’re a yard quicker and outplayed us, no argument the best team on the day won

Yeah that’s fair; I think the game was won in midfield, Clarke, Maris were dropped for Sutton which was a ridiculous decision by Clough but they along with Hartigan were superb, seperate mention for Lapslie who was clearly the best player on the pitch. Still wasteful in front of goal but deserved winners on Saturday.

Nice to bounce back with a win after a defeat last weekend. Not sure we really deserved it, first half we just weren't at it. Previously composed players looking panicked, going in with stupid tackles, far too many misplaced passes, nothing was sticking up top.

Crewe led 1-0 at the break and it probably should have been more. They had a penalty after 20 minutes, Vancooten needlessly taking out Agyei, probably an overreaction to being drawn out of position moments earlier. Definitely a penalty. Was a good save by Ashby-Hammond to keep it at 0-0. Their opener came from a corner, poor from us defensively, for a side with so many strong aerial players we've looked vulnerable from corners this year.

We managed to get to half time at just 1-0 and Evans made a couple of tactical tweaks and we instantly looked better for it. We managed to level through Jamie Reid, was a scrappy goal, the ball was fed into Taylor who did his best to get a shot on goal, the blocked effort then fell to Norris who guided the ball towards the bottom corner, not sure if the keeper was unsighted but he parried the ball straight into the path of Reid who tucked the ball home unmarked with the goal at his mercy.

Reid went close with another effort before he grabbed the winner. Not sure if you'd blame the keeper for the first but he was definitely at fault for the second. Earley played the ball into a crowded area, keeper comes to claim it but only succeeds in taking out his own defender and getting a limp fist to the ball, helping it into Reid who guided the ball into an empty net.

Was a scrappy game which probably should have finished a draw. Plenty of positives though, won despite being below par, great spirit to bounce back from both the loss last weekend and from a losing position today. Nice to see the manager alter something and for it to help change the game, spent the last few seasons watching like for like substitutions and no plan B.

That implies Lindsey has a fucking clue - which he hasn’t. 76% possession blah, blah, blah. Them having a player sent off after 10 minutes didn’t do us any favours blah, blah blah.

This bloke is so far out of his depth he’d drown in a puddle.

Oh dear. Given we have loaned him out because we have gone to a one up front and Schuey said iit does not suit him. Personally I thought that was a monumentally large clue, but what do I know. I take it Luke had no chances.

Why are you calling him rubbish?

If you are hinting that I’ve called him rubbish, then you must be getting me confused with somebody else.

I think some barrow fans maybe said it.

He was shite for us but that was in a team that had it's confidence completely destroyed by Mark Cooper.

Every sympathy for individuals but surely people have been taken ill during play since time immemorial without it being stopped? Obviously there must be exceptions when access to the pitch is needed, but Isn't it mostly just a way to dramatise things for breathless match reporting?

Managed to sky one from a yard out! Tbf, he replaced Wakeling who went off through injury.

If Walsall play like that, they will win more than they lose and in doing so will accumulate more points than draws will. Frustrating for them but on the day, they came up against a very good keeper and the class of goals they conceded would have beaten any teams. Supporters who have seen all of our games say they are the best we have met so far and if they continue like that , I see them as top 7. Get over your frustrations and look at the many positives Sadlers.

Your manager must be on the brink?

Not only are you not picking up many points but most opposition fans are picking you out as the worst team they’ve faced.

The chairman is typically very patient, but always has an obsession with budgets - if he has said we've got a top ten budget, he'll be expecting us to be in the top half so I would expect his patience to run thinner this season.

All you have to do is search his name and yours and Shoddy's user names to see a swathe of sneering and sarcastic comments regarding a player we all told you was a top left back at this level about three years ago.

Had a quick look and as suspected nothing but praise from me for his qualities. I even referenced him in the best players in this league thread just a few weeks back.

It was barrow fans who said he isn’t very good.

Totally agree, you beat us in midfield and Lapslie was the best player on the pitch even though he should have got a second yellow before he was subbed but that would have spoilt an excellent performance

It was never worth it. Average death age higher than the life expectancy was an absolute giveaway.

As for the game, I can only echo the above.

Walsall came to win - honestly, so refreshing to see.

We didn’t deserve the win. We didn’t even deserve a point.

On that showing alone, Walsall will be up there.

We’re very lucky to have Harris Lewis. He’s the best keeper we’ve had since Jordan Pickford IMO.

Can I also say, Donervon Daniels is a fucking mister. We were scared shitless of him.

I think the ref got some really big decisions wrong.

Your penalty was soft at best, but then didn’t give the one down away from us which on closer inspection does look a penalty.

Ours was also questionable tbh, one where you could be like, i can see why he’s given it but on that basis there could be 5 a game.

Nope, we didn't deserve the win. Sorta balances itself out over the season, doesn't it? Like Walsall going to Newport, having 0 attempts at goal and winning due to an own goal.

Hope your right think both clubs could do with a better season after recent years and Daniels and Monthe are beasts both been good for us.

Good first half for us. Average second half. Deserved to win but needed to make it count more. Never know at 1-0 and I thought Wimbledon had a very good shout for a penalty turned away 5 minutes from the end.
I thought you were fairly average to be honest. It might've been a penalty. However that would be just papering over the cracks. We were hopeless .

I wasn’t at the game, but from our commentary it sounded like the crowd reaction to both sets of fans shouting for it to be stopped was affecting the players. Football doesn’t get played in a vacuum. There may be some merit in your point about the media, though most sports journalists are more interested in the football than things peripheral to it.

Yeah not great are we. Hard to watch at times compared to the stuff we played (or were allowed to play) in the NL last season. First 30 minutes yesterday was probably our best so far that I've seen. Although that was possibly down to how poor you were. Don't think you improved that much either, second half more even because we lost intensity.

One positive for you was that you were a bit better than Colchester.

Supposedly the chairman has said today that we've got a top ten budget this season... about time they started playing like it then.
Ours gone even further and said we have a play off budget. Based on yesterday both sets of fans are having the piss took out of them. You were the worst side I've seen this season, granted we are probably yours as well.
