Our IFollow commentary team can be a bit exasperating spent a good 5 minutes on Morgan Ferrier’s latest hairdo for example. Most home games have Rovers legend Dave Higgins, who feels like he kicks very ball and offers some good insight too.

I’m a big fan of Higgy myself. Makes a refreshing change to some of the big name co commentators on the BBC and Sky.

Ours tends to be any 2 of 3, and in the main they're ok. If anything, they try too hard to be impartial.

Peter Matthews and Mark Halliwell tend to be the traditional two, and whilst I like Halliwell on a personal level, he can tend to be quite annoying. Peter Matthews' inability to pronounce opposition names correctly drives me insane. I remember listening to a cup game a few years ago and he kept referring to Courtney Senior as Senna. WTF!!!

The other guy, James Young, often starts rambling about something that happened in our Southern League days when the vast majority of our fans didn't even know the club even existed (or weren't even born) and you end up missing what's actually going on during the game. As others have said, this is ok if you're watching on ifollow, but a pain in the ass if you're listening to it.

On very odd occasions, the club secretary, Paul Godfrey will be the co-commentator. He's usually good for club updates and dealing with any texts from fans to the station, but is very slow to criticise (understandably) what may be happening on the pitch.

Our club commentators Dave Victor and Matt Hiscock have both been covering our games for a number of years now, both very good club commentators. Matt Hiscock is excellent though, he calls things straight down the middle with his analysis and is quick to praise opponents when they deserve it. Dave's an older fella who can occasionally mix his words up and get player names wrong, but he's a good club commentator.

I recommend the Morecambe lot if you fancy listening to two blokes in a pub.

Agree, Blakeman’s knowledge was very poor. I blame Blakeman for my over the top reaction on this forum when we won at Vale Park.
i'm really not precious when it comes to local radio commentary, it's always been the only way to follow your games if you can't get there and it is certainly a job I couldn't do.

But I just cannot stand Blakeman. You should hear him when he does the phone ins after matches..."Praise and Grumble" the feature is called. he's often patronising and insulting people, openly mocks them, cuts them off before having a final pop.

I totally get that his role is to host the show and that he can put an opposite view across to the caller to further the discussion, but he goes so far past that. I remember him doing to many vale fans who were calling to complain about Aspin in the final weeks of his tenure.

Luckily he's somehow been "promoted" to stoke games over the past year or two it seems, they're very welcome to him. We still have to suffer him every now and then.

Our other guy - Sandoz is far better at doing the host role - he can put opposite views across without just completely trying to make the caller look like shit.

Ah Roy....... an aquired taste. He's been with the club forever it seems, he's seen it all, the old Jimmy Frizzell days and then the fantastic Joe Royle era, premier league, cup finals, semi finals and now the current era.
He likes to tell a story and i think he forgets hes commentating lol
great guy. I'll be listening to the oldham commentary in the return game if we're still locked out of games just to check in on him.

I'm glad you like our commentary cause our own fans despise it
Might be biased because they seemed very complimentary about us.

I remember one of them absolutely loved David Worrall, every time he put a cross in he'd reference the amount of assists he gets

Best commentary i've heared is orients, very unbiased and they do their homework on the opposition.

i did listen to the first 10 minutes of theirs recently as the Radio Stoke stream wasn't working to begin with.

They did get a few vale players names wrong...Tom Cannon instead of Tom Conlon (maybe something in that as Valefan16 says, Sproey has a weird way of saying his name).

They also had 3 different variations of Manny Oyeleke including Omeleke and Oleleke. I can't be too critical on that as the vast majority of vale fans get his name wrong. I'm not sure my dad has ever got it right to be honest, he just calls him "Oleke".

Even my six year old daughter can sing the Oyeleke song! Despite him being injured 95% of the time she still knows it!

Well they got our players names right including micky demetriou which is more than i can say about our commentators who have so many variations on his name its mind boggling.
