What happened? Last we were in L1 he signed a load of good players and took you from relegation certs to a solid L1 team.

The early red didn’t help you today but you were absolutely terrible. Honestly playing like some of the lower league 2 teams we faced last season tbh
When he took over he won games by scoring early and shutting up shop. He used the loan market well and also it was the honeymoon period where he tried harder and had a goal to achieve.
Barnsley turning him down for the job this summer was a turning point. The fans were turning anyway as last season was dogshit boring. Fans turning away from going. Gates back to conference days.
This season, you can tell he doesn’t want to be there. And we want him gone. The fitness levels ( supposedly under the stewardship of mamaria ) is below par. The players are out of position, and look disillusioned.
However, sack him - get someone in and we will be ok. The squad is capable. It’s the pair of them that is the problem.
Ben needs to do something he has not done since Pesch, and sack a manager. And now. Before we get cut adrift.
I won’t go again now till he is gone. Will go to the bescot with my mate for football fix.
Never left a game at half time but could not face that again. It was so bad.
I hope we lose next week so he goes. Hopefully he will get sacked tomorrow.

I can’t believe we lost that one. Could and should have won it.

Disagree, you didn't have a shot on target, we at least forced saves. A draw would have been fair but what a lovely goal from 18 yo* Academy product Tyler Goodrham to win it. His interview on Radio Oxford was refreshing to hear as he was buzzing so while he said the 'right things' he was clearly enjoying himself.

And we witnessed the new Trevor Kettle today; remember the name Tom Reeves as you'll be cursing it soon enough.

*He turns 19 tomorrow.

Not sure that I entirely agree.

Sam Smith was a really good outlet again. Paul Digby I too thought gave solidity in midfield and acted as a real enforcer.

We really weren’t great. In fact we were pretty toothless. It looked like two sides incapable of scoring to be honest. In reality I don’t think either side did anything remotely enough to win.

I’m so happy for Tyler Goodrham. What a moment for the young man.

not a chance in hell will he make it at Liverpool a Burnley,Brighton all day long class
How can you possibly make that judgement that he won’t … He’s only just turned 19 a few weeks ago and is head and shoulders above anything we’ve seen at full/wing back in a long time.

Pretty shameful antics from Accy to get the Shrews bloke sent off. Are they always like that?

Great team performance from us today. Vale clearly had an off day as most expected this to be tight prior to kick off. I think we had 6 academy graduates play for us at some point in the match today which is amazing frankly for league 1 level football

You've got some very good technical players and it showed against team that are massively unprepared. We had to be an 8 out of 10 today to get anything from the game and as our manager said, we were a 3.

We're patching together a team 2 games in which isn't ideal and our team is currently weaker than our league 2 team.

Exeter took us apart quite easily in the end. Poor penalty decision mind!

Have you seen who plays RWB for Liverpool....TAA who was playing in the world cup with England and won the Champions league at 19
Bradley is class unless we go into the Championship he will be off to a decent Championship/Premier league team on loan but he aint moving TAA anytime soon

Probably ignorance on my part but was really surprised at how good your pressing was today. Pretty much beat us at our own game.

We were the strongest today, but it’s a funny old game, and our keeper made a brilliant save just before halftime and as you say, the penalty was a tad fortunate. If those two events turned out different I suspect you would have set yourselves up differently in the 2nd half. You had to chase the game and that definitely helped us. I think both of us will be fine this season (and by that I mean not bothering the relegation places). Good luck for the rest of the season

Yes I think we got the tactics right today. We will undoubtably have our off days, but in terms of tactics our manager is getting better and better. Helped that we knew a lot about you from the close games last season

I didn’t say he would displace Trent. I said he has a chance of making it at Liverpool. It’s a squad game.

We were just completely on it today which won't always be the case, certainly not in the return fixture. If we'd have had Dion Charles in the team it could've been a whole lot worse.
A new keeper, couple more new faces in maybe and I am sure Wycombe will be fine, still tipping them for a playoff push. They're a physical side who will always cause teams problems. I have a lot of time for them, good club.

Give over!

We were the much better side in the first half and should have had a penalty. On reflection a point would have been a fair results but no way were you the better side today.

Look at the stats. We had 56% possession to your 44%. Outpassed you, and with greater accuracy. Six shots on target to your none. Seven corners to your three. Your keeper made five saves, whereas ours didn't have to make any.

Not sure where you think you should have had a penalty, but we also felt aggrieved not to get one when Browne was pushed over in the box. Also Findlay, our centre half, was yellow carded early on when he fairly won the ball, whereas the ref (who was fucking useless by the way) allowed your players to get away with all sorts, especially in the first half.

Having said all of that, you were a well drilled side, but I get the impression that's as well as you can play, whereas we were well below par and are still a work in progress, and three or four players short of where we'll be at the end of the window.

There might be an argument to say a draw would have been a fair result, but to say you could a should have won the game is absolute bollocks.

Depends on his ambitions 5/10 games a season with Liverpool or a full season in a bottom half premier team or top half Championship team
Dont think Morley and Dapo will be to far behind him

just seen the replay of Smith genuinely getting his whole shirt ripped off on a corner, will we ever get a penalty again? supposed to be clamping down on that sort of stuff and i can honestly say i don't think ive ever seen a player get his shirt fully taken off him before.

the exeter pen looks worse every time you see it. contact is fully stopped by the time they get near the box and the guy just chucks his feet from underneath him. same player had chucked himself down a few times in the game and obviously went unpunished.

early contender for worst ref of the season. maybe good to get him out of the way during a rubbish performance where we were not likely to get anything, although survival in this league is a lot harder if we don't get awarded free penalties like that.

Yep, they've always been like it under Coleman and it's always McConville that's first on the scene. I can't work out what the Shrews guy was sent off for? He got a yellow for the push but then what?!

Poor penalty decision in the Exeter/Vale game. Have to say though, the fourth was the worst of the lot, how can you allow a long throw to land at the feet of a striker a few yards from goal?!

Hard to see us actually losing a game this season.

David Earl is correct - we are simply too good for this league.

Based on two games only if we don't get Eisa back soon (which we won't) or sign a decent striker we are going to struggle this season. Ah well, funny at half time yesterday when we are sitting bottom but 1 in the league they played 'The only way is up' :ffs:

I wasn't impressed with Wednesday either, I expected more from them but hey, they got the points so will be happy.

See Kyle Dempsey scored 2 yesterday. He was a stand out player when he was at Fleetwood, his weakness was never scoring enough goals, indeed few and far between. Good to see him on the score sheet and hope he remains injury free, quality !

Strange game for us. The first 45 was as dominant as I remember seeing for long time - created a number of good chances and played nice football but just couldn’t score. Charlton came out in the second half and we were just flat on our feet, scored on a counter attack and we continued to waste good possession by failing to convert.

Plenty of positives, sure, but frustrating. I feel like this could be a blueprint for our season, where we have 60% possession in most games but struggle for goals. Towards the end of the game yesterday Wildsmith was nearly in the centre circle as we put 6 upfront but still couldn’t get it to fall. We certainly aren’t adverse to taking risks in that regard.

The penalty will be Charles Brakspear at his 'best'. He isn't as bad as Trevor Kettle but it's a close run thing.

Been very stop/start for Demps at us since joining on deadline day but he arrived with a niggling injury so it was hard for him to come into an in form team not fully fit. He's had a very strong pre season, missed the opening game vs Ipswich but yesterday he started & was absolutely magnificent. We've been crying out for somebody who makes his type of late runs from midfield, he should have had 4 goals really but with the amount of energy he put into the game you can't fault him running out of steam a bit when he was through on goal another time for his hat trick. Proper old school, all action centre mid can do a bit of everything... fingers crossed he kicks on now, solidifies his place in the team & has a big part to play for us this season.

I was right close to the penalty decision and he clearly clipped his foot, so nailed on for me. The TV clip doesn't always give the best angle.
I think by the fourth Vale had given up.

The Findlay booking was annoying as Paul Digby only got warned for cynically tripping Marcus Browne right on the edge of the box just before when Cambridge were in real trouble. Quite remarkably Digby got warned twice more as well but didn't get booked.
