We are garbage didn't start playing till we were 3 nil down and there's no coming back from that score the majority of time. Cheltenham are a decent side and should get promoted but they didn't even have to play that well to do and we gifted them there goals. We actually had more shots on target than them according to BBC stats. We only scored our 2 goals late on due to Cheltenham slacking off making a couple of substitutions to give fringe players some minutes. We are a bigger club than Cheltenham yet they will be in league one next season and us in the national league. Once we hit the national league we will never get back into the football league as all we are is a failure club.

I’m just getting tired of it all to be honest, 4 relegation battles in 5 years, 3 of which at this level is a disgrace for a club this size, it’s a huge failure, the thing is before we had Smurf, now we’ve got decent owners and the team has been heavily backed in such tough times, far more than most clubs yet the outcome Is the same or worse.

Getting no breaks with injuries and just seems drama at every corner. Even being at this level I consider a failure for the club let alone struggling at it.

Looks like it’s going to come down to huge games at Barrow and Grimsby... felt like I was having a heart attack against Chesterfield and not fancying the stress of it all again.

As you say go down it’s a long way back and I wouldn’t be confident, we’ve simply got to get Worrall and Pope back ASAP got a run of winnable games aside from a toughie against Bolton.

The only way I can describe how bad Grimsby are is by pointing out that we’ve scored 3 goals in 8 games (see first quote for context) and have only won one game in that spell. It was on Tuesday against Grimsby and we should have won about 7-0.
Colchester hadn't even taken the lead in a game since December when they beat us 3-1.

Morecambe have been low-scoring nicking games all season (remember when they were top of the table on negative goal difference?), yet they went 3-0 up today and could have been 6-0 up with the number of times they should have scored.

your defence played well.....if you finish higher than us you will be promoted
As others have stated here we have played no one on our unbeaten run.

You are certainly no better than those teams we beat.
Would take a wembley play off game against you all day long.
Teams are allowed to have poor games, likewise with you I thought Exeter were a far better team than us both yet aren’t in the playoffs.

One thing I will praise Bolton on is fitness levels, it’s easy to see why you’ve come from behind in games and get late goals. Your players ran all day while ours were blowing out of their ass after about minute 55, although a number of City fans did point out early in the week about our lack of fitness in games.

Likewise I’d happily play any team in this league at Wembley, including yourselves.

Morecambe looked a good side when they beat Crawley on Tuesday.

Scored 3 and could off had a couple more. One off the post followed by a blinding save from our keeper springs to mind.

I think the days of them winning 1-0 followed by a 0-3 hammering are over for this season.

thinking seriously about it, we’re beyond abysmal

It's ok you're not alone, we now know how you both feel.

A poor performance from us, with all of the outfield players below par with the exception of Spearing. Crawley were the sharper side and deserved the victory.

Our home form has been patchy all season and this result in isolation would not concern me, but the lack of a focal point to our attacks without James Vaughan does worry me. We have got plenty of quality elsewhere in the squad, but he is our talisman and we are really going to struggle without him.

It's actually getting quite funny now

The defeat against Oldham got me feeling depressed, the defeat against Colchester had me fuming and the defeat today off Morecambe has me laughing.

Yes it is getting funny now..

Wait till Grimsby beat us 4-0

In hindsight, yesterday was half expected.

Mansfield have a long history of losing to sides who haven’t won in 17 years and the like, we’ve always had this knack for doing that in the time i’ve followed us. Also, whereas the result doesn’t do us any favours realistically 3 wins out of 14 will take us to 46, and i can’t see all sides reaching that.

Also, out of the 3 barrow are by far my preferred option to stay up, though i’ve absolutely nothing against grimsby and southend - in grimsby it’d be sad to lose another east midlands side to the pit of misery below.

We’d have to play you at least 8 times, in which you’d have to promise not to go into our half.

Even with those rules Hurst will pick 9 defenders and Joe fucking Bunney

In peace

I can see what you mean about a lack of focal point to your attack. Woolery or Feeney would do something clever, break down the channel/wing and have to go backwards because there was nobody busting a gut to get into box to finish something.

I was a tad disappointed with Nugent. He appears to no longer believe in himself. Maybe that miss in the first half affected him?

Crawley played really well (for us). A bad day at the office for Tranmere but the quality is there for you to put it behind you and go on a good run.

It's called football Jonny. We were much better than Scunny in midweek- their manager said we were by far the best side that Scunny have come up against so far this season - but ended up losing the game. We didn't deserve the win today but we got all 3 points today thanks to another great strike.

Still, your comment on our goal coming after 3 and a half minutes of the 3 mins of AT is a tad dishonest considering that as soon as the 90 mins were up, one of your lads spent a good 90 secs on the ground receiving treatment.
Most of him on the floor happened whilst the game was going on! A tad different to twice during the game that the ref stopped the play immediately when one of your lads went down when it wasn't a head injury either. That's where it gets annoying for me, no consistency. Felt the ref was pretty abysmal yesterday, haven't seen it back but we should have had a pen that was ruled outside the box and we got blown up for a foul when through on goal very harshly.

But yeah it's football, I pretty much said as much in my post. I've seen it against us so many times and for us a handful of times when we were good, it's just how it goes. It's mostly a dead rubber for us anyway.

He is having an operation for a knee injury on Tuesday. Probably out for the season.

Ugh, horrible news for you. Easily the best player on the pitch last weekend.

Probably the best player in his position in the division. There is so much more to his game than scoring goals. He is a nuisance, no matter where he is on the pitch.

Its a big blow but these things happen and its only a game when all is said and done. I don't know if anybody is aware of this but Tranmere and Sunderland supporters have been raising money for our clubs charity funds because we cannot go to Wembley. They are on about £116,000 and we are about £22,000. There are a lot of people who need help at the moment with this pandemic so its the least we can do. There is no specific target for each of us but it all helps.

pretty laughable that we somehow get back into the game after being 3-0 down, we get a free kick in a crossing position, attempt a quick one down the side of the box that goes harmlessly out for a goalkick without a vale player getting within 10 yards of it. Not the only time we failed to cross the ball into the box in that time frame either

But for a fairly tame effort from outside the box we didn't land glove at 3-2 really.

we're getting to straw clutching time now, hoepfully swan can dig us out of the hole we're in. if we don't get a win in the next couple of games then i honestly think we're doomed.

people can laugh all they want, but we've won 3 games in 4 months or whatever it is now, only grimsby in worse form since the start of december. we're relying on there being 2 worse teams than us currently, and it's touch and go.

It frustrated me that free kick, at 3-2 then 7 minute injury time Chuck Legge up top load the box. May as well lose 4-2 and try but we kind of didn’t get them on the ropes at all.

Don’t get me started on Conlons cross when he did get in down the flank either which went into the stand!

That said if we defend like a standard EFL level team we probably win that if we score two late goals! But we didn’t.

The Dubious Goals Panel have awarded our second goal to Alfie May, somehow. Definitely was an own goal but I suppose both him and Brown would rather it was his.

Yeah odd one that! Hits bar and goes in of Browns back. To be fair Brown made enough of a balls up for the first not to take the second.

Yeah - really odd decision. The ball was only ever going out after it hit the bar, but as you say, I'm not sure either would dispute it.

another great one when we had men over at one point, played a lovely intricate passing move right back to scott brown under no real pressure.

i'm definitely not saying cheltenham were on the ropes, or that we deserved a point at all, but to go for about 15 mins and manage a long range shot and 1 corner crossed in to the box, ever likely weve strugged for goals

the amount of late goals we've conceded, we're due a few ourselves, but if you aren't putting the ball in dangerous places you wont score.
