Having researched a little:

Years in top flight:

Sunderland - 86
Bolton - 73

Top flight Championships:

Sunderland - 6
Bolton - 0

FA Cup:

Sunderland - 2
Bolton - 4

All-time Average Attendance:

Sunderland - 25,811 (10th)
Bolton - 17,110 (26th)

All-time League Table (top flight):

Sunderland - 10th
Bolton - 13th

Seems fairly obvious to me; Sunderland are bigger overall. Perhaps Bolton sell more iFollow tickets?
Sunderland fans incoming for more fun with our deluded friend.

Not forgetting Manchester United are their biggest rivals.
They drew away to Bayern Munich once but Norwich City beat them away so they aren't as big as Norwich City. We have a 100% record against Arsenal. That must make us bigger than them. We beat Everton the last time we played them so that makes us the 2nd biggest club on Merseyside, however Everton are ahead of Liverpool in the league so Masi51 logic makes us the biggest club. Technically we are we are the reigning champions of England by line of succession. Is this how it works?

Sarcevic is not in the same league as him.He was Shef Wed best player for the last 8 years in the championship
Lge 2 is a walk in the park for players like him and Hoolihan

Hey no issue with the dig, but look at a players career before you make a call.
He is with us because he cannot play 2 games in a week and he has turned 30
In the latest edition of Masi Talks Shite, Kieran Lee hasn't even won Sheff Wed player of the year once...

Oh, and Sarcevic is quite literally in the same league as him.

On a more logical note, when you have a realistic sense of your place in the order of things you can work out a plan to improve that standing. If you have an unrealistic sense of it you will never improve because your expectations will always outweigh your capabilities. Unrealistic expectations will lead to a club spending more than they should to get to a place they do not belong. Slow and steady might upset the more impatient supporters but its a hell of a lot better than going backwards due to trying to run before you can walk.

Genuinely, never on this forum have I ever had to read a post 3 times.

Did you just say Bolton Wanderers are bigger than Sunderland?

Is there a punch line to that joke, or?

Easy getting a rise out of many here, the usual suspects liked it i see the 3 stooges from Birkenhead
caught a few stragglers from Bradford in the net
Only one from Barrow, Crawley and Vale and none from Grimsby, Exeter or Mansfield.

Will try harder on my next fishing trip
Have a good Friday

Hoping to hear about Ollie Clarke red card being overturned today or I’ll be much less confident tomorrow.

In a strange way, tomorrow's game defines the rest of our season for me.
Win away at Exeter and it will be a decent scalp, and 3 points that keep us in the chasing pack, lose or draw and I think we leave ourselves too much to do. I don't think we will realistically challenge for 7th, but it's nice to keep it in mind with 15 games to go - if we string a few wins together over the busy Easter period, who knows?

For some reason, Orient are 3/1 to win, which feels very generous - we're only 5 points behind them.
Exeter probably have a little more than us, but they're having a minor wobble, Parkes will still be suspended at CB for them, and they've had a busy fixture list recently - they still have several dangerous players though and are favourites for a reason.

That said, we have Jobi Mcanuff, the UK's most bangable manager, boasting a 100% record from the dugout.
Hard to know how much of a corner we have turned, as Grimsby were unfortunately very poor on Tuesday but I think we have a chance tomorrow.

You think Masi is bad on here, you should see some of the Bolton whoppers on Twitter.

Gary Neville had the temerity (that means boldness Masi) to say that Cheltenham are the best League 2 team he's seen this season and they all went off on one because they beat us with a last minute goal (their first shot of the game) and scored a late equaliser against us in the return fixture.

As for our game, on paper we should be putting Vale away comfortably based on form, etc... Football isn't played on paper though and Vale seem to have our number a bit. We should win, but I certainly won't be expecting it.

We are a different animal now under Clarke than the one conceding for fun, only problem is it’s the polar opposite! We barely look like conceding and have been rock solid bar a worldie and a break when we should score but it’s come at the cost of us being one of the league highest scorers to having virtually nothing in the final third! That said injuries are ridiculous again, set to be 6 key players out tomorrow. We will high press, probably make it very hard for you but likely huff and puff to a 1-0 defeat.

We usually have your number with the wingers targeting your full backs but they are virtually all injured and Rodney is being played down the middle! So likely be Hurst as a LWB and Mills who’s a crap defender expected to be the RWB (although he was ok against Cambridge) although Clarke doesn’t disclose injuries so may have the odd one back.

your league position says you are a better team than us so far. Nobody from Bolton gives a flying f... what Neville thinks. He is a part owner of a club in this league nothing more nothing less.

Jesus christ we have made countless mistakes...Completly got it wrong last summer we signed some for whatever reason are not good enough to play league football. We binned our DOF last Autumn and give Evatt a free hand at recruitment. From August right through to christmas we were shite bar one little spell.
Evatt brought Miller and Isgrove in but they were not match fit. From January onwards we have changed our team completly. Williams,Lee,John and Afolayan are a level better than lge2 and with Miller and Isgrove getting match fit have rejuvenated the squad.
We have 7/8 players who we signed last summer who will not play this season and will be released inthe summer......very costly mistakes.
Those signings in January happened because the Salary cap has been abolished.
Whatever league we are in come august i expect us to be competing
We haven't signed anyone since the salary cap was scrapped. So our squad must still be under the original rules.

Yeah it's awful. That facebook banter group is just as bad too. Unfortunately, as we're one of the better supported teams, we get more idiots too.

I will bow to your superior knowledge. If you are saying we brought in 8 players in the transfer window and released Taft, Mascoll and loaned out Gordon to balance the books who am i to question it, i am sure the codfather will be along shortly

It sounds a lot like the Sunderland fans, who if you look at their posts on twitter are just now coming round to accept that 13 goals in 14 matches Charlie Wyke might be good enough to wear the red and white stripes, and for some of them (he's out of the contract in the summer) whether to offer him a new contract or release him is still a discussion point but at least they're accepting that keeping him on might be an idea. Not that long ago when he had only scored a pathetic 11 goals from the previous 18, when I looked at what the Sunderland fans were saying, most of them were still describing him as the worst striker ever to wear a Sunderland shirt and they'd never get promoted if they were relying on a donkey like Wyke to get their goals.

Think it tends to be a thing with armchair supporters, of whom big clubs have more, that they never adjust mentally to being in a lower league, as in they still think they should be competing in the transfer market with the likes of Newcastle and Burnley.

You will win.

Although despite how shit we are, hardly anyone has really comfortably beaten us. we just lose narrowly all the time.

that being said, i thought Cheltenham were very good at vale park and so this could get messy if we don't keep our our recent defensive improvements.

you don't really have to worry about losing the game, the only concern there is that rodney hasn't scored a screamer for a few games so he is due one.

Tranmere v Crawley

Crawley won the reverse fixture 4-0. Tranmere then sacked their manager and have improved...couldn't get much worse. If the team that floundered into to The People's Pension Stadium turn up tomorrow we will win again. Unfortunately for Crawley Tranmere are playing like a proper side and we are pushovers.

I fancy us to grab a goal but a point will probably be beyond us.

We will be in it until Josh Wright comes onto the field. Obviously I'm hoping he regains his Championship level as we have him for two seasons but he looks in need of a pre season and a serious talking too.

Craig and Dalison have been out injured. Tsaroulla looks good at left back but, as much as I like McNerney, we have missed Craig's organisation at the back.

Hear me out and to be fair to Masi he may have a point:

Bolton Wanderers FC
Sunderland AFC

Bolton have more letters in their name therefore they’re a bigger club. I think that’s as strong of a case as any and everything else is irrelevant.

#TeamMasi

Oh and by the way, hope Bradford win 6 zip tomorrow :bg:

Hi guys, Bolton fan here. Lurked for a while but after reading the last few days I wanted to let you know we aren't all as bad as Masi makes us look. Was at the Allianz for the Bayern draw away, at Burnden in the mid 90s when I was 7. Seen some ups and downs. Watched every game this season on Ifollow and really looking forward to the Bradford game. Most pumped up for a game I have been in years. I think it will be tight. We are a completely different side to the side that played them last time. As I am sure they are. The big difference for us (as well as the additions in Jan) is the change of shape. A lot of us were calling to drop the 5 at the back a lot earlier than it was and we have been so much better with the 4. I hope we edge the game as I truly believe it is a season defining game. If we want automatic promotion we can't afford to lose it and I would take a point now.

NB Sunderland are a bigger club than us.
NB2 Agree on the point that Kieran Lee is far too good for this level. Without the injury issues he would still be in the championship I'm sure. We just need to keep him fit.

Salary caps were ended after the window weren't they? So everyone is still on a pretty level playing field. The gap will widen next season so those wanting to spend more (Salford, Bolton and a few others if still in this league) will have a big advantage next season
