Hello Friends

I just want to establish a consensus between the relationship between the largest two countries within the union that form the modern 2016 United Kingdom.

Following the 2014 No vote and being from the northern partition of this imaginary border what the general every day Englishman thinks about Scotland,

Myself personally, i voted NO in 2014 because i feel that the every day person either side of the border would have suffered economically from a YES vote. However, when discussing every day issues on twitter and Facebook have been the victim of angry Englishmen telling me i am a skirt wearing rabid jacobite when i voice my disapproval of the modern day Tory "Austerity" Britain that we all find ourselves in.

I really want to know is - do you (presumably) English gentlemen hate everyone north of this border due to the right wing propoganda, or do we still have a good relationship that is limited to football only?

I personally want a more united United Kingdom where people at either side of the border have a respect for one another and realise each others achievements as a country and i feel that people at each side of the border descend into a bitter feud when this is really not necessary and these insecurities have been hijacked by SNP and Tory propaganda that has made us hate each other.

I'd prefer it if Scotland didn't leave the union because it seems pretty pointless and almost wholly fuelled by some Braveheart 'freedoooooom' sense of nationalism, which I don't like. It is very easy to dislike the Tories, but the Scots have shit loads of devolved powers now don't they? So meh. Way more than the local authorities in English cities and counties. Although I can see how Scotland might look at us the way England looks at the EU.

I do think that the SNP is bad for Scotland though in the sense that they spread discontent and division, and bad for the UK in that Sturgeons entire manifesto seems to just be to be a Contrary Mary to anything England does, which is kinda annoying. You get the feeling that Scotland would cut the UK'S nose off to spite Englands face

Scotland is very nice and so are the people in general. I'm glad they didn't vote to leave but honestly wouldn't blame them if they did, and could still see it happening at some point in the future.
Edinburgh is easily the best city in the UK outside London as well.

I like the Scottish but then my job for the past 8 years has involved working with them, the Welsh and the Northern Iron heavily. I like it up here, just the distance home that's a killer. And the temperature, fuck me.

Edinburgh and Aberdeen are two of the best cities I've been to in the UK, great places. Me and the missus have done some cracking weekends up here.

I've had a few issues in small town's/villages where there seems to be a narrow mentality that some places can have, regardless of country. As soon as your accent is heard it generally causes a few heads to pop up and pay you a bit of attention. On the main they're alright, apart from the one that is no doubt ploughing through my Mother back in Derbyshire tonight.

The rivalry is good but at the same time when it comes to sport I really couldn't give a fuck who Scotland are playing and how they're getting on. Unfortunately we can't say the same when England play. It's a pain in the arse trying to watch England in Scotland.

I was in Edinburgh for business once and a bloke I was working with was a massive Celtic fan so he took me one weekend. I have never felt so scared in all my life. The pub beforehand was packed and as soon as a guy heard my accent, he shouted out "hey, there's an English c**t over here" and I was then bombarded with abuse for my whole time there.

In fairness, they were a great laugh and it was all in jest but I was shitting it for a long time. The east end of Glasgow is not the best!

I also discovered the Scotch Pie on that day too. Lovely.

Went to the Rugby League, KC Stadium, lots of angry fans who moan a lot - it was a bit strange. A girl behind me brought a bottle of vodka in her handbag too. Odd bunch.

I love Scotland. I've had a few great holidays up there and I have family there - aunt in Dundee and daughter and her partner in Fife.

Erm quality of life? Apart from some of the well known ned areas that we've all heard about (and lets be honest are abound in most English cities as well), the quality of life up here is superior to a lot of places in England.

Generally, when we've driven past many villages going from city to city, we haven't seen a school for miles, suggesting may of the kids have to go pretty far each day. Compared to many of the villages in England, which have bigger, admittedly nicer housing, the villages in Scotland are nowhere near as nice. Mind you, individual houses, set aside from the rest, usually do look better than England.

I get slightly claustrophobic when I'm in England due to the amount of people and stuff that is squeezed into the place. You notice it as soon as you cross the border on a train coming back though that we can just breathe a bit more here.
