And how many of these interviews have you watched in depth or indeed watched at ll. I've explained how these TV interviews work and feel no need to repeat myself. You are adamant that Gerrard is unintelligent....I ask you again.....show positive evidence that backs up your claim. You obviously have a preconception about this particular chap so put up or shut up.

Your post is simply a rehash of the previous nonsense you have made, and has been shown up to be such, with another couple of additions....Ibrahimovic, Lampard, Flamini ? Go and take a lie down mate, you are truly losing the plot. Rooney (again)...WHY? These posts are about Gerrard so why you feel the need to deflect by mentioning others only you know but my guess is that you know you're on the run with this and trying like a clingy thing to cling on to some corner of normality.

And your list (I did look at it)....what the hell does that prove.....'Huh...say it again...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!'

I wouldn't give up the day job if I were you....cos psychoanalysis aint your forte.....:cool1:

Hard to respond when you have made absolutely zero points above.

I've watched enough interviews to conclude Gerrard is not intelligent, it didn't even have to be that many. Indeed, in football intelligent people stick out like a sore thumb - they are obvious and treated as such.

Nobody has ever claimed Gerrard is intelligent.

Lampard, by contrast, a similar player in a similar era has frequently being lauded for his intelligence. In many ways, he was a far less talented player who achieved a lot more.

As for using other players as a comparitive measure, um, this is obvious surely? You say I have no evidence, than claim to not understand why he is being compared to other players.

What positive evidence exactly are you requesting? His IQ test? A written summary of his words? I have no idea what you are looking for. You are claiming his intelligence is a mystery - he has been in the public eye for 20 years - it is no mystery to anyone but you.

Do you think Rooney is intelligent or do you have no idea?

Do you think Ibrahimovic is arrogant or do you have no idea?

Unless you are willing to answer probably no point in continuing on.

Gerrard, to be fair to him, may well be more intelligent than you and most Rangers fans.

But you still felt the urge to..... I have no need to make any points. Tis yourself that believes he is making points which I have shown to be full of bull and self indulgement.

Okay, as I said previously (I seem to have to repeat myself to you...do you have some kind of mental block with certain aspects of certain posts?) put up or shut up....positive evidence please. Saying you have seen enough interviews drives you to your conclusion is simply not good enough. I could say by reading numerous posts on here by yourself that I have come to the conclusion that you are deluded, an egotist and a poster of total nonsense who foolishly believes that he is right and everyone else was wrong (even FIFA when they reversed the decision re wearing poppies.....remember that classic ?.... ). On that basis I'd say that I was correct but you never know.

Nobody has ever claimed Gerrard is intelligent.

"What makes him so good? Well, there is nothing he can't do. He is clever. He sees the game quicker than anyone else. He sees the picture. He can play the ball first time round corners that aren't even there. He has got intelligence. He has got physical attributes. He can bomb past people. He is quick. He is a proper, powerful athlete. Give him a header, he will score. He can play in behind the front man. He can get the ball off the back four and control the game from the quarterback position. He is just an immense all-round footballer. I have never seen anyone put it all together like him, never seen someone with so many qualities. I have played with a lot of talented players, but he was better than any of them."

“The intelligent players adapt and Steven Gerrard has the ability to do that," the Juventus midfielder said. ...Andrea Pirlo (yeah, the one you mentioned in an earlier post.....:cool1:)

“There are not many players who can do what he can – be one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe and then switch to be up there as arguably the best controlling player. You look at the holding players in European football, players with top teams and top clubs, and I wouldn’t swap him for any of them because of what he can give the club. He’s a playmaker, unique. His intelligence and reading of the game allows him to orchestrate the game with those playmaking skills from that position. But he can also defend, tackle. And what he probably doesn’t get enough credit for as well is his reading of the game situations.” — Brendan Rodgers

Well, well....there are three to be getting on with.

As for using other players as a comparitive measure, um, this is obvious surely? You say I have no evidence, than claim to not understand why he is being compared to other players.
Obvious only to yourself. the discussion is about your assertion that Gerrard is not intelligent. Comparing him with others has absolutely no bearing on the subject. Because, in your opinion others are intelligent/unintelligent does not make 'whomever' either or. Surely a disciple of egotism like yourself would know that for a fact. Oh, and just an aside.....when did 'arrogance' enter the sphere of 'intelligence' ? Another faux pas by yourself!

What positive evidence exactly are you requesting? His IQ test? A written summary of his words? I have no idea what you are looking for.
Positive evidence that will back up your assertion. I don't give a monkey's chuff what it is....but something/anything that backs you up will suffice. Playing with words & deflection does your case absolutely no good whatsoever. How many times do I have to repeat myself? I never claimed his level of intelligence is a mystery....I said I had no idea. Once again you show yourself up by not understanding what is put to you.

Do you think Rooney is intelligent or do you have no idea?

Do you think Ibrahimovic is arrogant or do you have no idea?

Unless you are willing to answer probably no point in continuing on.
See a few paragraphs back. This has no relevance on the subject so I have no intention of indulging your deflection so venture on to pastures new son if that is your want. Personally, it makes no difference to me!

Gerrard, to be fair to him, may well be more intelligent than you and most Rangers fans.
And there we have it....i wondered how long it would take you to show the real reason for your ill fated gibbering.

PS......as for my & most Rangers fans' level of intelligence.......You'll require positive evidence for that otherwise....etc etc etc......:bg:

Sorry, if you don't realise there is a difference between footballing intelligence and actual intelligence then we are done here.

I'm....just shocked. Shocked at it all.

Well, footballing intelligence (how I would define it, and how it is defined by Leo) isn't relevant at all.

It relates to a players concept of space, vision etc. It's useful when you are playing football, but not for anything else. Rooney clearly has footballing intelligence but he is frequently lambasted in the media for being notoriously unintelligent. Indeed, despite being an intelligent footballer he probably can't even articulate how. He can make a good pass, but not explain how he did it, it comes naturally to him and many top level footballers.

You can think of any example you want. Gascgoine was an incredibly intelligent footballer, but he is not an intelligent person and would be an awful manager. Ronaldinho too.

FWIW, Gerrard had less footballing intelligence than similar top level players and it probably held him back a bit. But this isn't a valid criticism of how he would be as a manager. Rather his lack of actual intelligence is.

I do wonder how you thought footballing intelligence could apply to budgeting, planning etc. that I referred to earlier.

You can make a case that an ability to adapt to different circumstances, positions / cultures can be indicative of thinking deeply about the game which would lead to someone perhaps making a good manager. Indeed, I made this case earlier with regards to Lahm and Xavi. However, this would be blown out the water if that player was pretty dim in every other respect (e.g. Gascgoine).

As for claming Gerrard is intelligent because some ex team mates said he has footballing intelligence, this is something that has been applied to most professional footballers and indicates nothing. Anyone who knows anything about Gerrards playing career will understand that he was frequently criticised for his lack of positional awareness and discipline.

But that's hardly the point. Certain ex players are lauded for their actual intelligence (rather than footballing intelligence), Lampard, Guardiola and those in the link above and but absolutely not (and never) Gerrard.

Leo and others seem to think he is a great intellect (or they have no idea), with the available evidence I have come to a very contrary position. Like most ex footballers he is a bit dim and this decreases his chances of being a good manager.

Maybe I'm wrong and he is a member of Mensa and good friend of Garry Kasparov. Maybe in addition to attacking DJs he takes a keen interest in theoretical physics, the world economy and is a proponent of the philosophical school of existentialism. Guess we will have to wait and see.

No they didn't....read the quotes without putting your own spin on it. You stated quite categorically that 'NOBODY' has ever said he was intelligent. A statement that I showed was utter bullshit!

FWIW, Gerrard had less footballing intelligence than similar top level players and it probably held him back a bit. But this isn't a valid criticism of how he would be as a manager. Rather his lack of actual intelligence is.
Once again....let's have it....some positive evidence, not some crap that people have said this or that during his career....you know, something/anything that backs up your assertion or are you unable to ?

Leo and others seem to think he is a great intellect (or they have no idea), with the available evidence I have come to a very contrary position.
I said I have no idea, unlike yourself I have never felt the necessity to scrutinise any players' interviews via press or tv to gain a foothold on their level of intelligence. As I said previously...interviews are simply soundbites and are answers to journalists questions ie: give them what they want. And once again.....let's see all this positive evidence you have to back up your assertion ?

Maybe I'm wrong and he is a member of Mensa and good friend of Garry Kasparov. Maybe in addition to attacking DJs he takes a keen interest in theoretical physics, the world economy and is a proponent of the philosophical school of existentialism. Guess we will have to wait and see.
Oh for fucks sake......:lol:.....Keep taking the tablets son.

PS...why do we have to wait and see as you know better than everyone else ?

PPS....Is that Kasparov the Russian astronaut?

They completely bossed Partick, whose season-long problem of scoring goals certainly came to the fore again.

Yeah, I was glad to see them win. They had the desire and belief that they could do it whereas Partick really looked lost....tbf I haven't seen a lot of Thistle on tv this season but I was shocked at how poor they were in the final third. And as for that twat Sammon....I was on to a nice return from Laddies it he had stuck away that penalty....grrr!

Seems like Celtic and Rangers are going to cut down greatly on away tickets - won't do much for the atmosphere between the 2 I guess.

Yep, just read 900 allocation at Ibrox now and Rangers fans are bizarrely celebrating the fuck out of it. I've always admired the huge amount of away fans they allocated eachother. Give it a season or two and they'll be wishing it back the way it was.

Being a blue nose and having been at many of these (OF) games over 40 years or so I've got to say that imo it is farcical. All that happens is tit for tat. I realise a club should look after it's own fans first & foremost but this is a step too far.

Not all of them mate.....the ones I personally know are not for it. I'd hazard a guess that it won't be a majority that are. The ones that are celebrating, well they're the ones that would probably celebrate anything anti Celtic. As I said to SH....farcical.

Hopefully a signing that goes a way to solving our central defensive problems of several seasons....

RANGERS Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old Croatian defender Nikola Katić from Slaven Belupo on a four-year deal.

The 6ft 4in former Under-21 internationalist is highly rated in his homeland and was capped for the first time by Croatia’s senior side in a friendly against Mexico in May 2017.

A towering centre-half born in Ljubuški, Katić started his football career at HNK Stolac in Bosnia and Herzegovina before moving to Neretvanac in Opuzen, Croatia, in 2014.

In February 2016 he joined Slaven Belupo in the northern city of Koprivnica, a club that finished seventh in the Croatian First Football League in 2017/18.

Katić made 34 appearances last season and for several games took on the responsibility of being captain in the absence of the experienced Vedrun Purić.

After signing his four-year contract at Ibrox today Nikola becomes the fourth Croatian to play for Rangers, following in the footsteps of Dado Pršo, Nikica Jelavić and Niko Kranjčar.

Where did David Hopkin go then? A bit of a gamble by Livi but then they don’t have much to lose.
Hopkin quit the day after he got Livi promoted. Think he was after a job down south, dunno whether he got it.

might be off beam here but something in my head is bringing up Barnsley job. Anyway he isn't with any club at the moment.

It was a strange decision on his part. Maybe he thought the Barnsley job (I think he has solid links there so that does ring a bell) was in the bag if he quit Livi.

We made the journey to Shielfield Park tonight to watch the friendly game between Berwick Rangers & Hibernian. I couldn't fault the game for entertainment with it being 6-0, well especially on Hibernian's behalf. Would have been even more if it wasn't for some excellent goalkeeping from Berwick's Sean Brennan.

Hibernian ran the show possession wise from start to finish, with some cracking goals hitting the back of the net. In the end they were far too superior, and ran out comfortable winners on the night against Berwick.

Manage to get chatting to a couple of Hibernian supporters in the clubhouse as they watched their team coach pull in, I was somewhat surprised entering the ground it was segregation.

Then again we didn't know the attendance which was an impressive 1,410.
Hazard a guess their must have been close to a good 1,000 Hibernian supporters in the ground on both sides including the seated stand.

Decent game enjoyed it

Good wee run out at Ibrox last night against Bury....a 6-0 win but that really counts for nowt in the grand scheme of things apart from giving the squad a decent run out (albeit a pre-season friendly) and allowing Gerrard to see how they performed and had taken his ideas and philosophy on board. The majority of the incoming players got game time under their belts. By all accounts it was a far better attitude from the players and a different type of structure to their method of pressing and closing down. No chicken counting but hopefully this will continue into competitive games.

Watched a recording of our Europa league qualifier earlier against Shkupi at Ibrox which was won 2-0. A decent performance and could have been easier in goal terms as there were plenty of decent goal scoring opportunities created. Morelos, our main striker, gets into decent positions but his goal scoring boots must have been left in the dressing room plus I'm still concerned about his dismal ability to get caught offside far more often than he should plus he MUST get rid of his 'hot headedness'. What I was impressed with was....a far better attitude, better movement, better passing and closing down the opposition far far quicker than in the past when they'd stand off and allow the opposition possession. First competitive game of the new season so all in all a decent showing in front of 49,000 fans. I hope it continues and improves.

I watched a fair but of it. You should've won 8 - 0. Created so many chances but very wasteful finishing. May need to get a striker in who'll finish them off.

Hibs got a big win as well last night, 6 - 1 I believe. Maybe some Scottish sides will actually qualify for Europe other than Celtic this season.

Yeah I agree....Morelos blows hot and cold....goes on a run & bang, bang, bang.....then duds, duds, duds.....I'd love a poacher a la McCoist.

As for Hibs....great result but I can see them possibly with a void in midfield if McGinn goes to Celtic. Had a giggle to myself when I read about the bids that Celtic had made....especially when we get slaughtered for derisory bids for players when it is from another Scottish club.
