Scots staying at Hampden - seems like a good move although going by early reaction most of the fans want the ends to be re-developed and ensure the stands are closer to the pitch.

The threat to move was the most blatant negotiating tactic ever, and they have effectively bullied Queens Park into giving them ownership.

Right decision but gone about in an unnecessarily public way.

It should be noted that England, Wales and Ireland all have (at least one) brand new huge footballing stadium and all are less than passionate footballing nations than Scotland (two are far less). We should have our own new stadium built, use some of that corrupt money wasted on West Hams stadium, but in lieu of that a significantly redeveloped Hampden would suffice.

It is the home of football after all, just a few miles from the site of worlds first ever international, and hosting football matches a full 20 years before the first Wembley stadium opened.

Bingo.

Even though Albania were being built up before the match as a decent side (which their recent record and playing squad clearly shows) ever since losing to Scotland they are dismissed as no hopers.

You couldn't make it up. If Scotland beat France Saltire would insist they weren't trying, are over the hill, not that good anyway.

"Papering over the cracks".

That will be 5 wins and 2 draws in our last 7 competitive games.

Read it and weep you self hating Scot.
In all my time on these forums and beyond, I've never met anyone more deluded than you, and I follow Liverpool! The chance would be a fine thing these days if we even got a draw against someone like France, nay even someone like Switzerland; the days of us getting results away in Paris or in Germany (which I remember well) have long gone, and will certainly not be coming back any time soon under this fud of a coach.

Except for the last time when we beat France and our coach was.,,,McLeish.

The current incumbent.

As it is, I'm no big McLeish fan myself. The guy appears to be quite ill in every press conference. He did pull out an excellent result vs. Albania so deserves credit for that.

I would have rather kept Strachan.

That said, whatever you think of the coach, unbeaten in 7 competitive games, winning 5, is far better than the mass of self hating Scots would have you believe.

Worst team eva. Rip it up and start again etc. etc.

They are a horrendous self parody and have existed since the very founding of Scottish football.

As I've said on numerous occasions I have no great interest in internationals but unknown to me, until today, the wife had recorded the Scotland v Albania game. I thought Scotland played well (you can only play who is in front of you....#overusedphrase). I watched the game up to ex Ranger Stevie Naismith got the 2nd but overall I enjoyed the game. Tell you what though....John McGinn is a serious player....hard, direct but he was played too deep for me!

At home to Dundee yesterday in front of a sell out 50,000 crowd & after the Celtic game a win really had to be achieved......and it was. Didn't see the game but going by radio reports and what I've read it was a decent performance with goals from Coulibaly, Kent, Tavernier & Middleton resulting in a 4-0 win. However, the overall performance (especially the first half didn't have Steven Gerrard singing from the rafters. He is of the opinion that there is better to come...I hope so. Glad to see Coulibaly back from injury because, imo, he is going to be an engine in midfield along with Arfield and Jack (when he returns). Hope to see Eros Grezda in action when he gains full fitness. Just for Salty's info....had a tidy £70 on over 2.5......:2thumb:

Why are Falkirk doing so badly in the Championship? They’ve lost all 5 league matches and at home to Connahs Quay (who aren’t any better than Scottish League Division 2 level) in the Irn Bru Cup. They were always challenging for promotion until last season.

Really couldn't tell you. Apart from looking out for their results (I stay in the area) I don't know enough about the ins and outs and goings on at the club to make an informed judgement. I certainly know that the ground used to be a difficult place to go to when they were in the top tier. Probably due to financial restrictions, they axed their 'academy' at the back end of last year so 'may' just be relying on journey men types and loans but I'm just hazarding a guess there. I thought they had perhaps turned the corner yesterday when they went 0-2 up away to Ayr but ended up losing 3-2. Ayr Utd, it has to be said are doing great so far....2nd equal on points since being promoted from league 1 at the end of last season.

A Tremendous result for Rangers in Spain yesterday evening against the Group favourites. Going behind 1-0 within a minute was a bastard of a start but although it was a great strike for Villareal's first I must say that it came courtesy of a very unlucky deflection (for us) and landed perfectly for the striker. Having the majority of first half possession Villareal just couldn't add to their score and Rangers albeit defending well were very limited in their attacking chances. Once again a different attitude was noticeable in the 2nd half when we started passing better and pushing forward more and that play deservedly got the equaliser. But by fuck Rangers don't do things easy as they were 2-1 down almost immediately. Around 15 minutes from time Gers got their 2nd courtesy of big Kyle Lafferty after a great cross from Barisic. We rode our luck a bit from then onwards but Villareal couldn't get a winner but Rangers almost snatched a victory after some excellent work from Dorrans to play in Scott Arfield who really should have scored but the keeper saved his shot. A bonus getting a point in Spain. Gerrard is doing a tremendous job so far!

Pedro Caixinha after 6 games in 17/18 - 11 points Brendan Rodgers after 6 games in 18/19 - 10 points Last minute goal for Kilmarnock ended Pedro's reign as manager. Will the same thing happen to Rodgers?

Just watched the Rangers highlights from the weekend, cant say I'm surprised by the standard of performance ,Gerrard will insist on his players putting in displays of that ilk until they reach their zenith.

I think Gerrard being a born and bred Scouser is perhaps the only thing deterring me from throwing in the comparison with a young and hungry Alex Ferguson when at Aberdeen, but I'm expecting a similar kind of impact from an equally driven Gerrard.

Not a chance mate. I'd imagine Rodgers is there until he decides to move on.

Considering the result and efforts against Villareal on Thursday this was a fantastic performance, a great team performance which has been installed in them by the boss and an attitude to do their utmost to destroy opposing teams. This is what I and every other Bear want to see when we get Celtic at home in December...none of this giving them respect and room to play the ball as they want. Anyway, that is about 3 months away and a lot of games before them. With Hearts drawing at home to Livingston on Saturday and Celtic losing away to Kilmarnock this was an ideal opportunity to jump into 2nd place and by God did they take that opportunity. 2-0 up at half time and ended up 5-1 with cracking goals inbetween some great passing football. Long may it continue!

Another decent result last night at Ibrox where we beat Ayr Utd 4-0 in the quarter finals of the league cup. The young lad Middleton whom we got from Norwich is coming on a treat and got two of the goals. Only down side was that Morelos, once again, let his petulance come to the fore and he was booked for dissent after a heavy challenge on him. Result is, and this may make him think about his actions, he now misses the semi final against Aberdeen in October plus Lafferty is cup tied so a bit of a problem for the gaffer to consider up front. Celtic managed a 0-1 at Perth and Hearts beat Motherwell 4-2. Aberdeen beat Hibs on penalties on Tuesday evening.

AND.....at the same venue - Hampden. Gers v Aberdeen ko noon. Hearts v Celtic ko 7.45pm. Heaven knows why they didn't even consider playing one at Murrayfield. Around 25,000 (if tickets are 50-50 and all allocations sold) fans of each club will be in Glasgow and around the ground itself that afternoon. There is the time difference but with Rangers & Aberdeen ending (& if it goes to extra time & pens that could be after 2.30pm) & a %age making their way into the city centre where no doubt early starters from Celtic & Hearts will be there is every probability of flashpoints due to a certain element with each support (I sincerely hope not) but Police Scotland say they can handle both games (bet the rank & file officers are spitting feathers because I would imagine there will be no days off permitted). Both are tasty ties and should be great games and I hope that's what were talking about after the games.

You are so right SH, so fucking right. Ever felt so deflated, watched a game with your jaw dropping at what you are witnessing? Well that was me on Sunday....indeed I think I'll have to book an appointment with my local optician because as sure as shit is shit I DID NOT recognise that team as being the same which has played some excellent football prior to this. That was abysmal....couldn't pass, not wanting to shoot, slipping all over the place....simply as poor a performance as there has been this season. I'm not going to use it as an excuse but that playing surface is atrocious with every movement and bounce of the ball throwing up black pellets constantly. How clubs get away with this is mind baffling. The Rangers players actually looked as if they were playing on ice and didn't want to commit. I've said it before but for some reason they are fragile on surfaces as bad as that. Anyway, the game.....deserved win for Livingston with a well taken goal thanks to good build up on the right aided by shocking defending. Rangers just couldn't get any momentum and try as they might they couldn't influence the game. Nothing positive came out of this. Steven Gerrard will have to have serious words with his players before our Europa league game on Thursday against Rapid Vienna.

Having made my feelings know about the game on Sunday, I can't and wouldn't let this go by without mention. Some fucking arsehole masquerading as a Rangers supporter threw a coin from the stand (caught on mobile phone footage.....I've seen it) and struck the linesman on the head causing it to bleed which was attended to by medical staff. True supporters don't act like that, true supporters have the interests of the club at heart and for that c*nt to do what he did shows he is only interested in himself because it gives the club and the rest of the support a bad name. Rangers have asked Livvy for cctv footage in an effort to identify him.....he has been totally condemned on Rangers social media sites for his actions and is basically unwanted. I hope he is identified, charged, convicted, jailed and banned from EVERY football stadium for LIFE! Fucking rat!

Seems like the SPFL are considering an alternative venue for one of the semi finals.

Murryfield ?

Not so sure that is 100% accurate SH...seen reports that is to do with the transport situation. Regards Murrayfield, I agree that one tie 'could' be played there but.............the SPFL have stated that they are 'contractually obliged' to use Hampden for these semis. That however is not quite true I believe as Hampden had to move games in and arournd the period of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

Yep, you were correct SH despite my previous post. Only heard about it at teatime while watching the news. Yeah, the other venue will probably be Murrayfield as long as the SRU agree to it being used. The previously mentioned 'contractual obligation' has been waived on this occasion. Let's hope they get this sorted out sharpish because no doubt there will have been Rangers & Celtic fans who will have already booked flights/ferry & possibly accommodation. Tickets will have to be printed, allocations decided....Rangers and Celtic will certainly have to prioritise to which season ticket holders semi tickets will be allocated to.

CELTIC’S Scottish League Cup semi-final against Hearts on 28 October has been relocated to Murrayfield with a 1.30pm kick-off.
BBC Scotland adds that Rangers will face Aberdeen on the same day at Hampden three hours later.

Tad more sensible although Celtic aint happy with it. Apparently they say Hearts will be advantaged having played there for a few games during Tynecastle's upgrading, mind you that was last season & Celtic had no problem playing CL qualifiers there in 2014 due to the Commonwealth games.

Man charged for assault of Assistant Referee in Livingston
Published 15:10
A man has been charged after an assistant referee was struck with a coin during a football match.
The incident happened during the game between Livingston FC and Rangers FC at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday 30th September.
The 30-year-old is scheduled to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Friday 5th October.
Superintendent Craig Smith, Event Commander for the match, said: "As a result of this incident we received an overwhelming number of calls from the public, who shared our position that such behaviour was totally unacceptable.
"I'd like to thank both sets of supporters, the respective clubs and the general public for their assistance during this investigation."

What a second half for Rangers ,I thought Ejaria was brilliant ,his gait may look awkward but that belies the control the lad has over a football. Delighted for Gerrard ,this team under his tutelage seem to be moving forward in terms of quality with every game they play .
