How did Yann Songo’o get on?

Well that was an unexpected success. Looking at both our goals, which were from swift counter-attacks it looks like we are going to cause teams problems away from home.

And therein lies the conundrum, we won't be able to play like that at home. For the last 3 seasons we have been absolutely clueless at home and have lost to some very bad sides. The game at home to Carlisle will be a good barometer of how we are likely to be able to get on at home this season.

Tbf, Bob last season we had no proper winger to get out wide.

My worry is that, atm, I can’t see us scoring many goals from balls crossed into the box. Yates doesn’t seem like a ‘header’ kind of striker. I hope it’s not more of the fannying around, walk it in the goal build up.

But if our pace up front means teams are a bit more reluctant to put players up for corners, free kicks etc we should let fewer in.

Anyhow, the new striker, when/if he arrives - who’s going to make way for him?

From the clips I saw from the game, Isgrove was putting in some good early balls but Yates (as you rightly say) does not seem to have that game in his locker. It will be interesting to see who we do bring in to play up front. Good to have options thought for sure!

Plays just as described. Excellent ball winner and not much gets passed him, terrible passer though. He wasn't the issue on Saturday though. He played alright but there's definitely room for improvement.

Yeah. He’s decent in a dogfight but wouldn’t want him in a footballing side or a team chasing promotion.

His passing improved massively last year, so you can see how bad he was before!
