Can someone please explain the Forest Green-Halifax hate-in for me.

I've not enough knowledge of this league yet to have a stab at this.

They don't belong here. Take away the tax payers subsidies for fairy fart farms and they're a regional side at best. Everyone else here knows it but are too polite to mention it.

How come that we were at this level for more then a decade, were full time and built our new stadium all BEFORE Vince was anywhere to be seen?

I suspect a fair proportion of said dislike may be aimed at a certain poster/vision rather than your club itself.

From what I've seen you're a progressive, friendly club, and I enjoyed our game at your place, especially as it was free entry.

To clarify, I don't hate anyone*. But I think Eastleigh are the most disliked club in this league. Same as with Luton in L2.

*OK I may be lying there, but Pish are in L1.

And another thing, I certainly do not hate FGR. We spent 9 years here and we played them every year, so I consider them as an established conference club. I'll even go on and say it's their turn now, if one applies the queue system, even though they were never a league club.

The thing is, FGR won't win promotion until they appoint a manager worthy of the budget. Exactly the same applies to Eastleigh. Strip everything away and both Pennock and Hill are average Conference managers (which is still better than Moyses, don't get me wrong)

It's why I think certain people were maybe too critical of Mellon when he was down here with Fleetwood. Having a massive budget brings its own unique pressures, but he got them over the line, and again with Shrewsbury in L2.

I don't think we will be as bad as last season but considering we don't even have 11 players yet I think it's a bit too early to say we will suprise everyone and play the best football. Most of our signings except for Saville and our new strike partnership were part of the side that under Barker showed mid table form for the last third of last season.

One of the promoted sides seem to suprise people. This season I'll go for Boreham Wood.

Do teams "pretty much dominate" this league? I think Grimsby are marginally the likelier winners.

Hating is a waste of energy. Tranmere won't be liked by their many north-west rivals.

Define "best". Hopefully it will be Tranmere that play attractive and winning football. However, I'd accept winning football for one season at the expense of the aesthetics.

Mid-table isn't mediocrity if you have the lowest wage bill. But Wrexham look like 8th place material at the moment.

A lot of people are saying that we really shouldn't be lower down the table, but prior to appointing Burr, our positions since being relegated were 15th, 10th, 13th, 6th and 13th. If anything, we overachieved for the last few years with Burr in charge and are now reverting to our natural level. Unfortunately, the fans expectations have generally become higher over the last few years.

We were only reprieved twice in 13 years, pre Vince takeover. Lots of other teams have also been reprieved down the years. In that time we also finished in the top 12 three times, including an 8th, until last season our best ever finish. Given where we had come from and the fact we built a new stadium and went full time in those years, we did remarkably well to establish ourselves for so long at this level.

You could also argue that had Northwich (04-5) and Salisbury (09-10) not been basket cases and actually paid their bills, they wouldn't have finished above us as they would have had weaker teams.
