Guiseley
The team that starts off great but then falters as the season progresses?
Wrexham
The team that will be up there all season then mess it up right at the end?
Grimsby (if Bogle gets injured)
The team that will be fighting against relegation when they really shouldn't be?
Cheltenham
The team that will be first to sack their manager?
Tranmere (if they have any sense)
The team that will pretty much dominate the league for the full season?
Barrow
The most hated team in the league?
Eastleigh
The team that plays the best football?
Barrow
That team who just seems to have been mediocre all season, stuck in mid table?
Chester
In the 'Predict the final table' thread, you have Grimsby 1st and Barrow 5th, which contradicts this post big-time!! :dk:

Don't think I agree that we've been mediocre all season. Started really well, even having lost Scott Rendell to injury. Then Ismail Yakubu and two others got injured against Boreham Wood and everything started to fall apart. Recovered over the winter period and were up to the play-offs again. Then lost Dan Holman in January and haven't recovered since. The mid-table bit is right, sort of.

DontBringBertie should have a read of this thread and he might notice it was supporters of nearly all clubs, not just GTFC, that were predicting Grimsby would win the league.

They only thought that because of the EXTREME BULLISHNESS of the Grimsby fans.

Apparently you were unbelievably awesome in pre-season or something.:fl:

Grimsby's poor form, especially at the start of the season, was entertaining for about 5 mins. I'll be honest here and admit I was also waiting for the first defeat to come so I could post something silly like 'but I thought Grimsby had won the league in pre-season?'. To which Frealaf (IIRC) replied something along the lines of 'how long have you been waiting to post this?' And he was right.

But the point I want to make is this. I can perfectly understand why their fans were bullish at the start of the season. Not because their pre-season record was very good (I don't think pre-season games are a good indicator of what's to come), but only because they have managed to make the top 5 year after year, getting stronger in the process IMO, and also because they were unlucky versus Rovers. Add to that the very decent players they attracted in the summer.

Now, if the Cambridge fans(myself included) were optimistic at the start of the 13/14 campaign, then the Grimsby fans certainly had more reason to be. Hell, even the Man Ure fans were optimistic back in August  :ffs: And what is footy without a bit of optimism eh? And oh, one last thing,I'd rather the Grimsby fans predicted what they were really thinking (ie being honest) than seeing them posting rubbish saying they'll finish in 10th place or something. Like some fans do for some reason.

Rating your teams season so far? :fl:

I've bet on you to win the play-offs btw, just in case you fluke it or something.I wouldn't hold my breath given my betting record though lol.

Master D and ChrisFGR think that I am, I guess everyone else has better things to do than discuss something so pointless.

Talking of pointless, at least the point of his existence was to produce the worst banter ever seen with an overload of shit posts and an abuse of the smiley feature.

This account is like the shit alcohol free version.

I do hope you understand the enormous amount of irony in that statement Chris.

Is this argument really happening again? It's just tedious and irrelevant.

Every fan is hopeful I'm sure if you look back through my posts I didn't think we'd be relegated.

So why quote 5 different Grimsby fans as part of your argument, but nobody else?
#deluded

Because my argument was that Grimsby fans were overconfident in their own team. What's that got to do with other fans? Are you really that thick you don't understand that?

Lads please keep it civil. I dont want to keep locking threads left right and centre.

Take any grievances to PM. Thanks
Just make a class joke about suicide, like your schoolmate, and that'll do it.

Yes. Any further references to suicide and I will issue warnings.

We had every right to be overconfident in our team. We just forgot we had a clown for a manager

I had us down to be the mediocre mid table team and to be fair we have been. Other than our capitulation in March we have beaten pretty much everyone below us but lost most games against teams above us.

Also correctly predicted that Woking would start well and then collapse, although I didnt expect the collapse to be quite as bad as it has been!

That said, I had Lincoln down to fight relegation and Boreham Wood as the suprise package. I guess the less said about those 2 predictions the better....
