We put a fair case for the rearranged game to happen not at 6 days notice, the safety of the players and aid of the fans getting there has been overlooked and has been done tactically which unfortunately the EFL have backed Barnet on. The fact Barnet tried to avoid refunding fans when rearranging at six days notice is diabolical.

Hopefully we back fire it for them on the pitch but we will see! Two wins and we will likely be out of sight of Barnet and hopefully Chesterfield!

Genuine question, but what do you mean by 'the safety of the players'? What is unsafe about them playing next week?

A few games that were called off last weekend were played last night, the timeframe is no different to a cup replay. In non-league the cup replays are played three days after the original tie so having 10 days is nothing strange/scandalous at all.

I must agree with you, i posted similar earlier.
Not quite sure what the Vale fans are getting at, it is re-arranged 10 days after the initial game was called off. Seems to me petty in the extreme, maybe the date didn't suit Vale but not sure all this scandal and unfair whinging is relevant. Get on with the game for god sake. It is bloody Barnet who are bottom for a reason, get on with it.

The issue Vale have raised in their unusually for us very damning statement is that six days notice is way too short for the fans and our lack of ability to train adequately due to the conditions in the past fortnight means a late re arrangement isn’t considering the safety of the players. That’s in the statement released.

I’ve never known us to have a match re arranged for six days after the announcement. Even cup replays are usually 10/11 days later.

Our fans will struggle who were going to get time off work at late notice etc so lacks complete sense when multiple Tuesdays available in April. (Believe some of the games postponed are arranged for 10th).

Ours v Accrington is rearranged for 24 April - it’s the only midweek fixture either club has left this season I believe.

i do agree about the fans, but fans count for nothing these days as per the reason for the thread.
Anyone going Grimsby and Barnet deserves a medal or sectioning :bl:

Two massive games, win them both we will likely stay up. Lose them would be unthinkable.

I always thought both clubs had to agree on when the rearranged game would take place?

There must be a procedure though where the two clubs can't agree, otherwise they could both just dig their heels in and the game will never get played, which is probably where the EFL come in with their preference for it being played as soon as practical, and you certainly would expect them to side with 'we want to play it ASAP' over 'we want to play it when our top scorer is fit'. Injuries causing players to miss games is just something clubs have to deal with. We've had an awful time with injuries this season.

How unfit are your players that they can't play a match with six days notice? And have they just not been training since the snow cleared up because they thought they wouldn't need to?

I don't think the thread starter did himself any favours typing the title with the caps lock on, which just makes him sound very shouty, angry and lacking some perspective.

To be fair he had been told by Barnet's ticket staff that he couldn't have a refund and had to get the FSF involved to make Barnet change their minds. If that doesn't warrant caps then I don't know what does. I know under normal circumstances, caps lock should be reserved for such serious matters as genocide, child abuse, Luton's net spend and Steve Evans otherwise they risk losing their effectiveness just like antibiotics, but I think this is one of those extraordinary times.

They’ve been at St George’s this week but hasn’t trained on grass for two weeks before so raised the concern that they weren’t prepared enough to play 5 games in 14 days after having no game time and little training in a fortnight.

Had Pope not had his operation i imagine this game would have been played in April which is the thought most at Vale hold.

I'm sure the club would have had more notice than six days, as presumably they'll have been having disagreements over the date since the original postponement... so it's not been sprung on them as a complete surprise even if less than ideal for supporters. They'd have known that it was a possibility.

Again though, there were quite a few games rearranged for Tuesday night just gone with three days' notice, and if you don't beat the drop then any FA Trophy replays next season will basically be played within 72 hours of the original tie. Unless you get someone like Chelmsford who play their midweek home matches on a Monday, and then you would be playing the replay 48 hours later!

I don't particularly think it's fair to ask a club to travel on a 280 mile round trip on a Saturday to Grimsby then a 340 mile round trip to Barnet 3 days later especially with the importance of these games. You can pretty much guarantee vale will have to rest and use other players because of this so barney will be playing against vale reserves side. Also giving just 6 days notice means that it will be a sub 100 away following as basically unless your an oap or unemployed I doubt you would be able book a holiday at that short notice. The weather has been really poor training pitch frozen waterlogged ECT so haven't been able train properly for a few weeks now but that could be the case for all teams. Other clubs who had there game called off that same day rearranged it for in April apart from Notts county who did it just a few days later but as there near the top of the league they are probably happy to play games every night if they could.

Our last season in Non League we had Cheltenham away on the Friday night then 4 days later Aldershot away on the Tuesday night.
Then later that season we had Dover away on the Saturday then 3 days later Woking away on the Tuesday night.
The shortest round trip of those being Cheltenham at 380 miles, the longest being Dover at just over 500 miles.

The reason it's only 6 days notice is that the FA had to step in and make a decision because the the 2 clubs couldn't agree. Had Pope not been having an operation last weekend ruling him out for a month then I doubt we'd have objected to playing next week and it would've been announced last Friday or Saturday.

I do apologise unreservedly for putting capital letters on the thread. Maybe the fact we were heading towards 160 quid out of pocket and the complete non-league fobbing off attitude from the pathetic lot who work at The Hive contributed to that.
Sorry Rudebwoyben if it offended you :brill:

Yeah, well Tony K has just added another scalp to his "people I have pissed off" trophy board so I'm pretty blasé about it.

We were basically Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday from January to the end of the season last year. Our final game in hand was played on the Tuesday before the season finished on the Saturday!

Going back to the original point - this issue should something which is laid down by the EFL (if it isn't already) rather than being at the discretion of each club.

I wouldn't expect it to be too difficult to implement a mandatory choice for any pre-purchased ticket holder (ie; refund or acceptance at the rearranged game) and it seems to be in every clubs interest to look after its own supporters.

I've just had a scroll through our games the season we went up and out of 23 away games, 10 of them were 19:45 evening games, a lot of them proper whoppers too like the 4 I mentioned in previous post and also Barrow Wrexham Chester and FGR. The only night ones that weren't huge treks were Guiseley and Altrincham.

Boy I do miss non league......... :bg:

We had Plymuff away on a Tuesday night a couple of seasons back. Think they visited us on a Tuesday night recently too.
