A target man that scores goals - invaluable. He'll get between 10-15 and green will hit 20+ now that he feels loved again.

One more striker to come in, if it's someone like Amond then we're laughing.

If Matt Rhead gets 15 goals next year I'll donate £20 to a your beer fund! If he doesnt, you donate to me - deal?!

Seeing as I said between 10 and 15 I take it the deal stands at 10 also?!

Agreed there's a few in there that have it all to prove at this level and they'll be bursting to do so after being knocked back before.

But there's also a few there that are too good for this division in my opinion so nice blend
Who on earth in that line up is too good for league 2!!:ffs: None of those players would stand a chance in league 1, get real mate, you're not up against Solihull moors or Bromley anymore!

The bookies tend to give a heavy bias to who fans are backing when setting the odds. Could just be that Lincoln fans are all lumping on themselves to go up and so have been given short odds.

If they're all deluded enough to think Pub league striker Matt Rhead is going to get anywhere near double figures then I think you might be right !!

That and the optimism that comes from the season they had last season and the fact they haven't played at this level for a while, it's not unusual for fans of promoted teams to think they'll pass right through.

Raggett Habergham Woodyard and Maguire-Drew.

You've forked out a wedge for O'Grady to do what he does best and put himself about whereas Pub player Rhead does that better AND scores goals...

Raggett and Woodyard.

Knott's already done it in L1 but admittedly lost his way the last year.

Is anyone saying that?

We were, bizarrely, placed at 2nd favourites initially so we've actually drifted since the odds came out.

All?

It's got a very non league look about it, with a sprinkling of proven league quality.

It's hard to predict how you'll do, a lot of them have a lot to prove at this level and it could go either way.
A very, very thin sprinkling in Knott and Green. That's about it, really. If any of the others have FL appearances, they've been a very short spell as youngsters.

Raggett and Woodyard are comfortably L2 level, hence the interest from L1 and Championship Clubs in them. 4 of our side were signed last season from PT Clubs (Raggett, Woodyard, Habergham and Whitehouse (or are Nuneaton FT?)).

I'm particularly intrigued about Habergham, who's probably the best LB I've seen in a Lincoln shirt, Arnold because he's been binned off before having a chance and Maguire-Drew who was exceptional last season for Dagenham with 15 from the wing (similar scoring to Arnold).

2 or 3 concerns in that earlier line-up for me and that's before any depth.

FWIW, I'm pitching us around mid-table having either fallen away from a realistic PO push or leaving it too late (bearing in mind L2 mid-table is always congested with few points between everyone).

Our squad is littered with proven league 1 players such as Wiseman, Evatt, JBW, Reed etc, aswell as O'Grady who is proven at championship level as being a fantastic target man... That is the difference

You're just utterly deluded if you think Matt Rhead is a better target man than Chris O'grady, simple as that

How can Lincoln fans say JMD, Raggett, Woodyard and Habergham are too good for League two. When they haven't played a season in the bloody league!

I do find it funny when these clubs come up from non league and think they're going straight up! Cheltenham last season springs to mind. They were a shower of shit last season.

Difference between Cheltenham and Lincoln is that Lincoln have players with potential that have interest from higher up. Cheltenhams players were top end of Conference level at best. Not saying Lincoln's are all League 2 standard but Raggett, Woodyard and Green definitely are, Knott, Arnold and Habergham probably are. Not sure about the others, especially Farman and Rhead.

Chesterfield are putting their hopes down to a striker that has scored 5 goals in the last 3 seasons. Don't know about the quality of the rest of their players but having the same defence that got you relegated in L1 maybe isn't a good idea?

Tbf, it can work both ways. You've probably never seen them play (although I've said Raggett and Woodyard, not the other two).

People are forgetting we've only been away for 6 years. L2 football is in-grained into the club and fans! We've not never played L2 football or been away for 10+ years.

I do find it funny when these clubs come up from non league and think they're going straight up! Cheltenham last season springs to mind. They were a shower of shit last season.
Lots of people are saying this all of a sudden, but I'm struggling to find too many, if any, posts along those lines.

It's because they've had a season smashing part time club mates.. You see it every season when the team who won the conference comes up!! Crawley achieved back to back because they spent above there means and Bristol Rovers achieved it as they were a big club for league 2 anyway, so we're able to attract the players capable of getting you out this league!

I just compare our squad that won this league last time to Lincolns squad and they are absolutely miles apart! Think they just need a reality check!

Who's rattled your cage recently? But no, we're not, and no we haven't.

Tbf, all my arguments are directed at OneDecentLester because he's the one making these points. He's going on ignore now though, he's ruined this forum for me in the last couple of days.

Got a feeling you don't like chesterfield Paul mate...

Wiseman, Barry and JBW all new signings and straight into our defence... Evatt was injured for last 3 months of last season, and Sam hird has been one of our most consistent performers for year. Oh and also our number 1 Tommy Lee missed the whole season but now he's back... So yeah a completely different defence to last year hehe.

And we're not pinning all our hopes on Chris O'grady. We've got Kristian Dennis who managed double figures in league 1 in the god awful team we had last year. With O'Gradys service he is capable of 20+ imo. We've also got our exceptional youngster, 17 year old Joe Rowley who's had premier league clubs sniffing around him since he broke into the team in the last 3 months of last season... He is going to be a player! Add to that Gozie Ugwu who managed 22 goals last season for Woking...

Don't worry about us Paul. I'd be more worried about first game of the season if I was you..:whistle:

It's a pointless comparison because no-one's saying we'll win the league.

Ah, when you said "...they just need a reality check", I thought you meant Lincoln fans not the bookies.

Don't be so touchy Paul. It's just a bit of banter, I can tell you didn't like the comment I made about not knowing who any of your players were but I was just being honest.

Barnet fan trying to act like an established League 2 side. Can't get anymore non-league than Barnet!

He's not playing against Solihull Moors and Bromley now he'll be lucky to get 5...

Your cash is safe mate. Rhead was dog shit for the scabs 5 years ago and embarrassing for them in league football. Be amazed if he gets 5 goals all season.
