Foolish of Tranmere to blow all their goals for the month just before we visit if Mr Mellon wants to keep those stats ticking over. Still, the law that Norwood will get one still stands.

That's why we hit the post 3 times and missed a penno. Saving those four for Tuesday.

I know you're not being entirely serious but the last 'successful' season we had was 2006/07 when we were challenging for automatic promotion from L2 until February/March and our average attendances then were more than they are now.

Since then, we've failed to finish in the top half of a league season, so the last 4 or 5 years of attendances actually aren't the 'norm'. Yes, obviously there are bandwagon jumpers, but not as many as people think.
Yes, I know you had decent support when you were in the League. I was just saying that an average gate of 5,000 in non-league football is good by any standards.

We have been in steady, then rapid, decline since we reached the League One play-offs in 2004-5, so our supporters have been incredibly loyal. That said, we averaged 9,000 that season so there were also a few glory-hunters who have now disappeared !

Neither Lincoln or Tranmere have beaten us this season, granted the second leg is Friday, but we are 3-1 up from the first:bg::bg:. Id fancy us against either of them, its FGR I'd like to avoid
Was impressed with you at your place. Game could have gone either way tbf, but I'd be most worried about facing Aldershot in the play offs. If we're still level with Lincoln on Friday, I'll be amazed.

Agreed. Torquay in good form and Chester tricky opponents on their travels.

If we can't put away the second worst team in 2017 away at SB on Tuesday then we may as well just giftwrap Tranmere the title. No excuses not to pick up the win, the conditions are perfect.

Torquay may be a little more awkward but they're fighting relegation for a reason. Six points is the only acceptable outcome, and we'll see if Tranmere can match that - if they do then they fully deserve to still be in contention for the last two weeks.

This is now very reminiscent of the Barnet/Bristol Rovers title tussle of 14/15.
I wonder if this season's play-off winners will go straight through League 2 like the Pirates did?

Decent enough yesterday in the sun, Cassidy red harsh. Understandable angry reaction from the home fans to the ref at the end, I'd be fuming with that hopefully they can appeal it. Guiseley will stay up, good side, and a nice club.

Pressures off now, everyone seemed more relaxed yesterday. Need 2 more wins to pretty much nail down 3rd, given we play Chester and Southport in our 2 games after Tranmere we should manage that. Those games are more important then Tuesday tbh, that game is pretty irrelevent to us, so no point risking injuries or suspensions to our key players against a Tranmere side that will be going all out.

We don't seem to appeal any red cards. I've not seen any video footage yet so can't be 100% certain but I never expected a card at the time so was amazed when the ref pulled out a red. Cassidy and Ellis had a tough physical battle all game, the ref let a lot of fouls from both players go unpunished so I'm baffled about this one.
Overall I think we created just enough chances to claim a point but didn't have the composure to take one of them. Rankines free kick at the end, Cassidy's blaze over from ten yards from Hursts cut back in the first half and Williams peach of a ball across the six yard box which nobody bothered to tap in! The Asamoah penalty claim late on - I thought he lost his footing rather than being tripped. He should have done better five minutes earlier when he wriggled his way through three close defenders before scuffing a toe poke through to Russell.
I enjoyed the game apart from the red card, we will only be left with either Rankine or Boyes as cover for Cassidy neither of which is consistent enough.

Agree it was a physical game, Ellis does like a scrap, but at times I feel he does go down claiming an elbow a bit easily, similar to what happened with Angol in the box at Lincoln, he got nothing and Angol scored unchallenged. This time it was on the halfway line near the dugouts and led to a red, typical inconsistency.

You arguably looked more threatening with 10 men, couple of real scares for us. That Hurst ball should have led to a goal, he looks a good player. We aren't great at setting up our walls to defend free kicks so thought that would be your equaliser tbh.

Anybody know the rules if we can't put out an XI?

But it's fine because the owners have chucked in half a million since Christmas (allegedly).

RE yesterday, I find myself disagreeing with the Shots fans here - the whole incident re the 'unsportsmanship' - the injury was more severe than cramp and so while it took time for Moore to throw out - it did look from where we were the ref had stopped it as he went over - turns out he hadn't.

He and the lino on our side were both absolutely awful, the linesman was 10 yards behind play on numerous occasions - having done both roles for a few years at local level I know it's tough, but they do themselves no favours. All you want is consistency for both sides but unfortunately the majority at this level cannot even do that.

Should have had a pop at Rendell from the free kick and felt that Aldershot should have come at us more once they equalised, and was surprised they didn't. If anything we threatened more in the final 20 minutes.

That is the spirit. Just make sure your manager is on-message.

We don't owe Lincoln anything after the way their players rubbed our noses in it when they beat us. Wont be too bothered if Tranmere win, as long as we don't get hammered. Our gd is important in the race for 3rd.

The Forest Green TopLadz - great at dishing it out, but do not like it one bit when it goes the other way.

Be under no illusions, Coopz will be wanting proof before the play-offs that his players can turn in a performance in a big match, because he probably has little evidence of it so far.

This isn't a big match for us though. Why go all out and show them our hand with our best team now? Better to stay unpredictable in case we play them again in the play offs. In many ways being shit on Tuesday could be an advantage later on.

Chester and Southport are the bigger ones for us, we need to be making sure we win those to secure third.

Woking were a bit unlucky yesterday with the disallowed goal in injury time - but the match highlights clearly show the striker winning the corner clearly handling the ball - so justice was done... and after Woking cheating their way to a draw in the game at their place it was justice

One thing I'm struggling with is what did you think it was originally?
In my defence, the Beeb were comparing it to dog pitch invasions so I had the image of something RUNNING on in my mind

You do know that Barrow only drew yesterday?
Just that you normally only post on here after a Barrow victory.......

It's still the same season as their historic FA Cup win over us, that's reason enough.

Highlights posted but the red card incident is too far away to see anything clearly :(

Listened to both managers afterwards, Lockwood clearly thinks it's nothing like and Cooper saw no card in it so sounds like it was harsh. As I say, couldn't see the incident from where I was stood but was assured it had been an elbow by someone down by the barrier. he was further away than either bench though.

All I saw was Cassidy putting his arm across Ellis to hold him off, the same thing players do countless times in every game. From reading other reports of Mr Johnsons prowess as a referee it seems strange decisions are common place. He likes a card -

Diarra's foot was up head height in the box, it was a penalty regardless of whether Ugwu made a meal of it or not.

Assume handballing on the line to stop a goal isn't cheating?
