A lot of African Americans are uncertain of their precise ethnic origins and as such don't have the same connection to a tranche of names that you or I might. Hence coming up with random stuff they like the sound of. Makes sense I guess.

Yep they are all stupid as they are brainwashed into thinking their country is the best in the world at everything when its really worse than North Korea for the amount of shit that goes on there. They are also lazy fat bastards with entitlement issues and have such low IQ levels it really beggars belief.

I'm also extremely intelligent and I know it, cheers! ;)

Unlike real names like Jane or Kevin, which aren't "made up" and in fact emerged out of the quark soup.
Most traditional names actually have meaning, my real Christian name is John which means 'God is gracious', so to giving someone a traditional name back in the day you were saying something about your beliefs and values and would try to pass them on to your children. I don't necessarily agree on that (for example I don't think children should have their parents religion forced upon them, or even in fact a football team that the family supports - let them make up their own minds), but I can understand it. Calling someone Tasheka or DaShawn is narcissistic and vacuous and its no wonder their progeny then become dafties.

People moan about facebook but if you click a few buttons, turn off people that annoy you, defriend the idiots, then it turns into a decent enough experience.

Come on Katie Hopkins! ;)

I'm not too sure if names necessarily need to be founded on meanings. My real name is one of the most bogstandard on Earth. My forename comes from old Germanic Hrodebert meaning "bright fame", but my parents didn't have that in mind when they came up with it. My middle name means I'm a lover of horses and I'm not, neither was I intended to be and neither are my parents. They just wanted a name they thought pleasing in sound and spelling, and because many people they were close to shared said name. There will be similar reasons behind the majority of Christian names, whether common or unconventional African American names. And while we're at it, I personally quite like the name Tasheka. But I'd be surprised if you can wrack your brain and not find there's someone you know with a weird name who's actually perfectly intelligent and sorted.

Sorry to quote Tumblr, but this reminds me of a pretty good thing wot I saw recently online:

It's not uncommon to find inspiration for your child's name in popular culture these days, same as people would find inspiration in Biblical figures before.

I don't really see the problem here. Tasheka's Castle was a great programme.

Ha I loved that (well Takeshi's Castle anyway! ;) ) as I do almost everything Japanese. Still remember the Bridge Ball tune and 'happy clappy Jappy chappy!'. :D

Some kid I went to school with has just made an account on Instagram pretending to be a girl. He had the fake profile picture and bio set up and everything. Little did he know that it alerted (including me) all of his Facebook friends with a notification. He realised when someone he knew followed him, and then panicked and tried passing it all off as banter before deleting it :fl: All happened in the space of about 10 minutes :fl:

This one is circulating on my feed again. Just don't have the energy to point out all that is wrong with it.

Opposing the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre!!!!
At least s/he got the punctuation and spelling right SUTTS. Something those types usually struggle with.

Maybe s/he just pasted it from a UKIP document though.

Take if we've all seen the vid doing the round of the lad wanking on a train, completely oblivious to the fact he's being filmed?
