They need a root and branch review and copy the English model.

Definitely. They need to find the German Jordan Henderson, John Stones, Kyle Walker.

Özil was an absolute disgrace in that game. He just stood around watching his team implode

O....M.....G......the studio are now talking about the England v Belgium game for a couple of minutes. Salty....justy ? Over to you......
Thankfully came up here to see what's being said on the forums. Never listen to punditry at the best of times anyway, there is never any salient points on it; and when they start referring to matches that haven't been played yet and aren't due to take place until TOMORROW, its time to switch over.

Every country does this to be fair. When Ireland are playing at tournaments, they have features on the squad every day they are not playing. The vast majority of BBC and ITV viewers are English Salty mate.

Doesn't mean I have to like it! They should have a Scottish and Welsh studio for the rest of us, so we don't have to look or listen to monotone boring Lineker, and smug Shearer. Maybe hosted by the Krankies or Nicola Sturgeon; that'd be a lot better. ;)

Son of Cod : Congratulations. This match should make your fans proud although in the end it's a bittersweet win. The 2-0 win would be enough for Korea when Mexico didn't fuck it up for your team.
I already wrote it in the Sweden thread (because Bilo quoted my post from the other match and so I was lured into this thread) that I am not disappointed that we lost.
This was a very painful watch (again). For the 3rd time in a row we played shite at this World Cup and we deserved to go out.

Anyway, congrats again.

And he's been very good, him and Champion have been the best commentary duo by far - I mean we had Pearce and Kilbane today wasn't it, and Phil Neville on the other side - painful.

Yeah McCoist and Champion have been the sleeper commentary hit of this tournament.
Anyway, here’s a fun fact...
The last time that England stayed in the finals longer than Germany was in 1966! A sign that football’s coming home?!

Have to say, above all else is that Korea deserve a lot of credit, they played that game perfectly. Also massive respect to Sweden, to hammer Mexico is superb especially after having to pick themselves up.

As for Germany, lol. How the fuck has Löw made such a mess of that set-up? They have more then enough depth of quality players, their reserves won the Confed Cup and u21's won the Euros last year, but instead of intergrating them he sticks with the old guard who are past it and playing like crap. Add that to Erdogate and the whole thing was a hilarious clusterfuck.

Tbh it's a bit of a shame they went out, think of how amazingly their suicidal tactics and lack of pace would have played into our hands if we'd ended up playing them? Could have been a proper hammering.

Commiserations, Dirk. Can't have been easy to watch that. Like you say, a shame Mexico couldn't help Korea out but as I said earlier they were so lucky to even be in with a shot at 3pm today our time. My wife, bless her, thought that Korea had made it through when they went 1-0 up then had a momentary few seconds of disappointment before declaring that she was just delighted to see Korea cause an upset. I think Korea were definitely in line to have candy and sweets thrown at them upon arrival back in Incheon before that performance, but they've probably saved themselves today.
