That Pelle chap is rather blimmin good. Next on the top 6 pickings list I'd say.

Saints unlucky at the death not to rob an equaliser.

Shows how little you've seen us play. He isn't anywhere near top six quality and we are the best he can hope for in England.

But he was quite clinical today though. He did well considering he was cut off from the rest of the game for most of the second half.

I may add that Depay wasn't any good today either. However, I reckon we should give him time before we all start criticizing him, the talent is there.

Missed a sitter to make it 2-0.

Not convinced at all by Depay yet. Though obviously it's early doors so I'm by no means writing him off or anything. Rooney doesn't really bring anything to United's side at the moment and I say that as somewhat of a fan of his ability.

We played, for the most part, the combination of players I wanted to see. Rooney behind Martial in particular is something I wanted to see us play, because I think Martial has the talent to be a very good Premiership striker, but he looked isolated against PSV. If he received the ball and Depay or Herrera weren't immediately right there next to him, he had two defenders on him and he'd lose the ball. Rooney gives him that little bit more space and someone to play with who can also hold the ball up and let him do what he wants to do, which is play off the last defender.

I pointed out at the start of the game, the ridiculous situation that Blind, who started his career as a left back and moved to holding mid, started as our centre back, and Rojo who is naturally a centre back, moved to left back by Argentina through a lack of options, who offers nothing going forward, started at left back. I understand the idea that we play better with the ball when Blind is at centre back, he's a calm presence with the ball at his feet and it links well with Carrick and Schneiderlin, it's a very Barcelona/Ajax tactic to play a holding mid at centre back. But I knew from day 1 that Blind is our tactical weak spot defensively, and it was picked out again and again. Rojo at left back was okay, he did a job, but then you have Darmian and Rojo as full backs, neither of which offer much going forward, so you suddenly have a very rigid back four who can't help out on the attack. One thing I would be interested in seeing is Darmian playing on the left with Valencia on the right, but I don't think Van Gaal will do that any time soon. Rojo needs to get match fitness.

I think we should be going all out to sign a number 10 in January. Either that or move Mata there and get another wide player in.

The first thirty minutes were dreadful. Saints should have been two up. Thankfully we got our shit together and controlled the game from then on. Martial took his two goals very well. Already he's nearly passed how many goals Falcao managed for us. Very exciting player. Pelle caused problems in the first half, perhaps bringing back some of the question marks held over Blind at CB. Rooney was terrible again. I'm not sure how much longer Van Gaal can keep protecting him. He literally offered nothing going forward, which is totally unacceptable in the no.10 position. De Gea was sensational.

Schweinsteiger just knows how to take the sting out of the game. He always seems to make the correct decision and we look much more assured when he's on. Rarely loses the ball and knows when to keep things simple. £6.3m? thank you very much, Bayern.

I watch bits and pieces of saints most weeks and speak with plenty of your lot living here. As an onlooker I disagree. He's always the focus of what saints do, always provides a platform. Even through a draught he is effective for others. And he's very good in the air, which is increasingly rare in modern football.

I know Mane has been hawked around at bigger clubs but as talented as he is, he's hot and cold for me. Pelle impresses and id worry about him far more in a few weeks. Just imo. If Spurs lost Kane for example, they'd be banging saint's door down.

Age isn't on his side. I'm surprised with his start of the season and fully expect him to go on a scoreless run soon.

A pity Memphis didn't cap off that run of passing. The papers could have run with 'Ant & Dep.'

Oh my Martial, the composure on this guy! He's literally exactly what we needed. Strong, skillful and such a composed finisher. Couldn't have got off to a better start to his United career.

We were all over the place for the majority of the 1st half but we were far more assured in the 2nd, especially when Schweinsteiger came on (thespus' assertion that he's just a rich man's Arteta is well off the mark imo, he's got FAR more about him than fucking Arteta). Deserved winners in the end I thought.

Special mention to Schneiderlin, his best game for us so far, so strong in the tackle and good at reading danger. And that de Gea save was incredible.
He was pretty non-existent for the first 60 minutes, didn't help at all with the Mane/Pelle threat and was far too deep and safe when United had the ball. However when Schweinsteiger came on and Schneiderlin played more as traditional holding midfielder he looked a million times better.

Impressed by Martial. He showed his composure by finishing both chances. Rare attribute from a teenager, especially considering he just came to a big club under such high transfer fee. There is huge pressure for him to perform.
