For me, people hate Benitez because he took Ancelotti's place. And he has failed

After one press conference, Benítez told Carragher he had said he was better than John Terry. A fine compliment, had Benítez not proceeded to mime the nose of Pinocchio.

Scumbag club, no wonder they are so inconsistent. Total soap opera.

Apparently Rafa and Perez pulled a Christmas cracker, and the joke was 'You're sacked, mate - now fuck off you fat c***.'

Such a flagrant lack of class, wouldn't you agree Saltire?

When a president gets elected he or she should be held responsible for their decisions. Perez has shown time and time again he doesn't have a clue how to run a football club let alone the biggest one in the world. There just doesn't seem to be any accountability of him and the farce of it gets ever more laughable. Ancelotti shouldn't have been ousted and Benitez comes in and is doing OK enough where they are still in with a hunt in the competitions they aim for each season, they win 8 - 0 and 10 - 2 the other week and thats not enough for Perez or their spoilt fans. Zidane will flop as well and where does that leave them?

Only one club I detest more than them.

Don't understand the Rafa hate.

However, as said, his style was never going to fit, especially when you have the egos that Madrid have in that squad.

I hated Rafa at Napoli. Its not like I hate him for no reason. I thought he was stubborn as hell and I wasn't happy how he took us down to 5th considering all the money he spent.

I also think he's bad at motivating his players.

I think there is a bit of Liverpool bias here, but despite that I fully agree with the comments about Perez. I also don't think Zidane is ready. I can see him promoting a bunch of players from Castilla for them to just flop.

Its nothing to do with any Liverpool bias Lib, the way Madrid treat their players and managers over the last couple of decades particularly under that oaf Perez, frankly stinks. I mean they sacked Del Bosque right after he delivered them the CL! One trophy a season for them is about par, any more its a great season, but if they just miss out on them all, even if the have played well and there are signs they could become a great side, is not good enough and the coach gets punted, only for them to start again from square one.

I'm just glad Madrid get what they deserve. I have nothing against Real if I'm honest but I don't like Perez and agree that he doesn't have a clue what he's doing. They are getting exactly what is expected.

A lot of people praised the job Benitez did at Napoli, let me just run down what we achieved under him.

The good

2 Trophies: The Italian Cup and the Supercup. Its always nice to win honours.

The players he brought in the first season: After the sale of Cavani, the team was always going to need to reinforce. Higuain isn't quite what Cavani was but he's still a great player. Callejon proved to be a revelation, Mertens is also really good, and Pepe Reina had a great season on loan in 2013/14.

The bad

His stubbornness: He was stubborn as hell. He wanted to keep playing the way he wished for, and it didn't end well a lot of the time. A bit like Van Gaal at Manchester United. He just refused to change despite the problems being very noticeable. One of the issues was the awful defending. Rafa himself said he doesn't believe "the defending was a problem and that he won't do anything about it" and that to me was the straw that broke the camels back as there were so many problems with the defence. A part of it had to do with Miguel Britos and Federico Fernandez just being terrible defenders, but another part of it had to do with Rafa's defensive style. We conceded a bunch from corners if I remember correctly. Also the unwillingness to admit that the defence needs to be fixed, whether it was an issue with the players or the style, he didn't want to change it and I can get so many videos of Britos not showing competence in marking his man.

He spoke shite: I don't remember a lot of things he said aside from the "we don't need to change defence" but he said a lot of things that just pissed me off and thought that whether they were mind games or not, he wasn't helping himself and as I said, some of the things he said just showed his stubbornness.

The signings: One some days, Napoli were deadly like against Wolfsburg when we won 4-0, other days we were awful. And that usually happened on winnable games. Now this was mostly a problem in 2014/15 but that had to do with poor reinforcements. Michu ended up being terrible, David Lopez was a really random signing, De Guzman ended up being a good signing but he wasn't really the player needed to move forward. I was very happy with Gabbiadini and Koulibaly though. Koulibaly ended up being a relevation, despite being somewhat inconsistent, and Gabbiadini was actually a player we need as we needed a second striker to play alongside Higuain or a back up or rotation. Duvan Zapata didn't cut it. I didn't get why Eduardo Vargas kept getting loaned out which baffled me as he can be a very good striker if he wants. He hasn't done it at club level yet but has done it at international. The signings in the first season were very good however, but in the second season there was a need for more high profile defenders, even if I do rate Koulibaly, but we didn't get that and most of the players weren't even needed. Its not surprised we finished 5th. Now all this said, I'm not 100% sure if it was Rafa who dealed with the signings but judging with some of the things he's said, big chance he did.

He didn't achieve anything: People, especially Liverpool fans, always defend Rafa's job at Napoli for winning the Italian cup but he was hired to win something else! Mazzarri had already won the Italian cup with Napoli and the Supercup isn't really that important as nice as it is to win it. Nothing Rafa did took us forward and his decisions in the second season took us backwards. The first season wasn't terrible but it didn't feel like a movement at all, second season we went backwards. After beating Wolfsburg 4-0, we got Dnipro in the Europa semi's and it was pretty much a free ticket. Dnipro aren't a BAD team but Napoli in reality is a far superior team and they managed to lose it. Some argue that the offside goal cost Napoli in the first leg, but Napoli should have scored more than 1 goal, so that's really no excuse. It came back to bite them and playing in Ukraine isn't easy. Of course, with all the money spent, Rafa took us down from 2nd to 5th in 2 seasons.

So in short form

- He won 2 cups but it wasn't 2 cups that he was hired to win
- He was stubborn
- He spoke shite
- He signed players we didn't need in the second season
- He lost to a far inferior team in the Europa semi's
- He spent millions and went down from 2nd to 5th in 2 years.

Now see if anyone can relate that to what happened at Real, as I'm not too sure but if anyone wants to know why I hate Rafa, I'm just saying its not random hatred. I have a reason for it.

Having a go at Rafa's style. They've scored the most goals and got the best GD in the league! What's there to complain about!

"Oh... it's the way we've scored the most amount of goals in the league"

I think that your whole assessment of Rafa is very harsh IMO. His team selections can be frustrating sometimes. But I don't think you can hate him! He bought a defender in his second season? [Koulibaby like you stated - was a great signing. You had a problem in defence, fans wanted a defender ??? he got one. ] .. The semi final stage of any tournament can be/mostly are decided on small margins - an offside goal has cost you, not Rafa. And the big teams where always going to come back and push harder too once Napoli finished 2nd the season before he joined. Just very harsh IMO.

Unless Granada can score 4 goals in 4 minutes, Neville has got himself another win. Can only do it in the cup it seems.

Forgot all about them playing last night. Watched the dreadful first half of the league cup semi before going on the ps4. It finished 4 - 1 I believe. Espanyol were hacking bastards apparently.

He's received a two game ban from the cup for "provoking" Espanyol players.
