But we have cover all over the park now, and on preseason would be hard to leave Dion, Ugwu etc out so I may well be a million miles away with that line up and formation.

ODLs line up seems more like it with Weir in place of McCourt. Weir and McCourt on the wings like that doesn't seem likely. Its a shame we can only realistically play 2 of our strikers at a time! At least we've got plenty of forward options on the bench if it's not working

The midfield was just the 4 I think will be picked, I agree Weir and McCourt are unrealistic wingers.

I'd swap Dion and Reed around in ODL's line up though, I honestly can't see DD sitting behind a front 2 can you?

GC probably will go for his preferred formation, but on all accounts the 442 diamond / 433 looked fantastic on Tuesday night.

I think GC has done a fantastic job on the recruitment side this PS, I just hope the players implement his wishes.

I thought he'd put DD left wing back? That's where he should play at least! Until Jerome gets back that is. Shame about that injury, he looked the business

Nah, he's got Reed at LWB and DD behind COG and KD

Agree about JBW as well, looks like a find!

Very surprised no L1 clubs were in for him if I'm honest, which is why I think we've actually got to praise GC (won't go as far as the club) for how he's gone about things.

If you had that then why the need to edit?? Fuckin ell let's not argue, the way you had it set out originally looked like you'd got DD in the hole and Reed at LWB

Hahaha were you the Chesterfield fan on TFF who didn't ever forget that? Even when Chesterfield were in L1, didn't you used to come into the L2 forum and complain about Danny North's dive?

If I did it was under this username. No, not me. It wasn't the cheating itself that annoyed me as such, more the wankers celebration when he got the decision.

I like my cheats to be coy and self conscious.

6,600 sold so far. I think they'll be at close to another 1k from both combined on the day - So a good turn out. Well done folks.

Glad our return to league two won't be a poorly attended, atmosphereless affair.

I'm still willing for us to go balls deep and play 3 up front and 4 at the back, but I can see GC playing more safe.. Going wingbacks and dropping Ugwu and Reed to the bench.

6,600 in total or just from you lot? We've sold over 2,500 as of today apparently, so only 200 more left.

Total. Was thinking you might shift another 100 of them before we start, and I think we will get a few hundred turn up on the day who haven't got st's, aren't organised, or are deciding last minute.

Gonna plump for 7,450. Something like that.

Though we still have a lot of stay aways, so who knows.

I'm in the stay away gang but kind of wish I hadn't purposely made plans so I couldn't go now..much to my girlfriends amusement.

Must admit I don't know much about Grimsby's squad, so who should we look out for as your main threats?

Only one I've heard about is this dembele signed from the Nike academy that has been doing well in pre season. What type of player is he then? And which wing does he play on?

I won't comment on the shitness of Grimsby, as I personally haven't seen them play this season. Thanks for the tip though.

Good start for chesterfield because Grimsby are absolute shite and will struggle this year
I wish you'd have let me know this earlier as I wouldn't have wasted my money on a ticket for this one.
Might as well just go shopping with the missus instead now then.

Taking the choochoo and got a few hours to kill tomorrow. Gonna check out the wonky spike and probably go to the Royal Oak for an ale (I've seen it's got mixed reviews but I'm a sucker for old pubs). Anything else within vicinity of the ground worth a gander Chezzie fans?

Hi mucker despite some of our fans doom and gloom we will be fine this season. Mid table for me with outside chance of a play off push if we get a good no.9 in the door soon and when we got back in the League I thought to myself that I'd be happy with 3 years or so mid table consolidation building up to hopefully challenging promotion so I'm very content myself.
Sorry to hear about your Cancer mate I hope you've caught it early enough to beat it again?
Not sure what video you mean though? :dk:

Opposite the ground? It's a new boozer now called 'The Spireite' [Edit: ignore me, you're on about the one in town right? I'd give it a pass and try the others!]. It's alright, decent choice of ales. There's boozers up and down the moor, depends what you want really, or plenty more in town which is a 20 min walk, or a shuttlebus brings you down to the ground.

The doom and gloom isn't because I expect promotion and we don't have the side for it.
I would have been happy with 2 or 3 years of mid table and steady progress, in fact isn't that exactly why Bignot was brought in? To consolidate us as a league side with steady progress and eventually promotion in a few years.

It's Fenty who changed all that because Slade became available, and has said his remit is promotion.

So the doom and gloom isn't because fans expect promotion it's because we have been told the remit is a promotion push and the summer releases and signings don't back that up.

I don't expect us to go down, far from this season at least, but I don't expect us anywhere near play offs either, and if that happens then Slade has failed, and so if Fenty remains true to form will sack him, and the pre relegation cycle of manager/players comes back and eventually we end up in non league again because of one man who put short term success above everything.
