Well this thread has certainly lost interest. Shame on you Dessy & Stagat for letting it die!

Group A saw the historic qualification of Equatorial Guinea as they beat Gabon 2-0. A shame that there first goal came from a joke penalty. Second goal was as clean as they come though. In the other group game, Congo beat Burkina Faso 2-1 and finish top.

Yesterday, the final Group B games were played in what was another boring set of results. DR Congo drew with Tunisia 1-1 while Cape Verde could only manage a goalless draw against Zambia. That means that DR Congo qualify ahead of Cape Verde on goals scored. Really scrapping the barrel here.

So the whole country will be supporting EG as they play Tunisia in the quarter-finals but the good fun is the other QF which sees Congo play... DR Congo. Some kind of Congo derby if you will. How cool is that?

Group C on this evening. Cmon Senegal!

Well Senegal were shite and Algeria were good so Algeria won 2-0 and deservedly so. Not sure what happened against Ghana but when this team plays, they are the best I've seen so far. Too bad they lost to Ghana (who beat South Africa 2-1) which means they lose top spot.

The 1-1 group is up tomorrow. Will someone have the temerity to win?

I can't see past an Algeria win tbh and would be actually disappointed if they don't win it. They're by far and away the best all-round team in the competition (which isn't saying much given the drivel we've been served).

CIV v ALG in the quarter finals. I'm guessing that will be a good game but can see Algeria just winning it.

Dr Congo come back from 0-2 to BATTER the other Congo and reach the semis and the players are finally starting to get realistic about the potential in the squad.

DR Congo forward Yannick Bolasie believes his side can become unbeatable after their 4-2 win over Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final.

The Equatorial Guinea game was remarkable. I've not seen such poor refereeing at a major tournament in my life. The players were also disgraceful. Too many issues and moments to cover entirely but it's worth seeking out a video. Stinks of corruption...

Should be a Ghana v Ivory Coast final. Finally the two most talented nations in the continent would face off in a final at a time where they are not as good as they used to be...

Unless they don't beat the Guinea and Congo B teams...

Good game between DR Congo and Ivory Coast with the favourites winning it 3-1. Yaya Touré scored the opener, a shot from outside the area, but DRC equalised 3 minutes later via a penalty (a legitimate one) scored by Mbokani.
Game was really flowing with both teams going for it. Crystal Palace's Bolasie was doing great on that left wing and so was Gervinho on the opposite side. His header was cleared of the bar by Peterborough's CB Gabriel Zakuani but he still put Ivory Coast ahead just before half-time after a poor possession loss by RDC.
Second half was a bit less hectic and frankly no real chances for RDC. Gervinho had a couple of chances but Ivory Coast put the game beyond doubt from a corner. An Aurier header was parried by the arse-jumping celebration goalie only for Kanon to knee in the decider.

Well done Ivory Coast, after a slow start they seem to come around. Let's see if they face the hosts or Ghana in the final.
