Going to be a tough game and not sure our record of only team in the 92 not to be defeated in an away league game this season will survive.

Snap your hands off for a point here but a win will start too put pressure on those above us.

I'm not as confident of a home win as you two. Mansfield will be on the best form of any of the teams we've faced in this little run by some distance. You'll also be very difficult to break down where against the likes of Colchester and Oldham we've filled our boots somewhat on the back of some fairly poor defending. We'll also be without Jerry Yates, who had become possibly our main goal threat in that time.

I'd consider a draw a very good result for us. 1-1 I think, I'd be happy with that.

After starting a thread about 9am and getting distracted by work (how inconvenient when in work) I was mentioning how this is the 3rd game in 4 where we're playing the team in the best form. I didn't even realise there was a thread!

Would take a point after a long but successful Christmas, a point would be ace

As north stand says, now we're the only unbeaten team away in the 92 with such a long unbeaten run in general, it's so going to happen tomorrow!

Carlisle is a decent day out, decent folk also so should hopefully be a good one!

No idea but I’ve already got a horrible thought that we could lose tomorrow with Holdsworth in the opposite dugout.

I'd feel more sorry for the Carlisle fans with him in charge - couldn't manage in the conference, got no chance in the league. If he gets the job Carlisle fans better be happy they've enough points to stay up!

Fuck sake, how little respect must he have for himself to quit a League Two promotion challenge and go to some struggling shithole club like fucking Chesterfield.

Well, that's our season fucked then, I can only breath a sigh of relief that this has happened with us all but safe, and I must lay some of the blame at the door of our incompetent owners who have now had two managers quit on them in the space of six months.

It at least looks like Tommy Wright has not gone with him, so he'll take charge of the club tomorrow. Don't know much about Wright but he has seemed fairly well liked in his time at the club and I just presumed he would be going with Sheridan since they arrived as a pair.

Fucking disgrace though, I hope to god Chesterfield get relegated into the Conference North, it'll serve him, and them right. Then Sheridan gets sacked and no club in their right mindt would touch him with a bargepole after this.

Holsworth will only be one of two assistants to Tommy Wright at least. Can't fault his attitude or performance as our head of recruitment / DoF but have only heard bad things about his ability at actually managing.

Can't imagine Gerrard will stay now, and any hopes of getting Yates, Sowerby and Nadesan for the second half of the season are probably dead in the water.

Liked for the suggestion that Chesterfield get relegated again.

I'm sure it won't take long for the Mansfield fans to give Holdsworth a warm welcome

Sheridan has resigned and is off to a club struggling in the league below?

Ok well GOOD.

So let's quickly move on and look for a new manager.

Isn't Mansfield's manager that smug fella who used to manage Bury?

I hope we send him home with sour grapes.

Nailed on away win here. For a few reasons.

1. We’ve just lost our manager a day before such an important game, preparations disrupted etc.
2. I read that Mansfield have pace in attack. That’s not what we like, we won’t cope.
3. We haven’t yet replaced Jerry Yates who had been excellent until Rotherham recalled him.
4. There’s a possibility that Anthony Gerrard (been our best defender) won’t play because he’s out of contract and isnt signing a new one because Sheridan has gone. So a shit tip back 4 (or 3).

Would take a point right now but can’t see it, but really this match isn’t significant in the scheme of things, the most important thing for us is getting the right manager and in time for him to do some January transfer business. If winning or a point tomorrow makes them think “we’ll take our time, the caretakers are keeping us in good hands” and we fart about for months like last time then it might not be good in the long run.

Well you’d hope so, but when Curle left it took us 2 months of farting about with Hopkin and Slade and fuck knows who else before finally appointing Shitidan.

Two of the poorest teams I have seen at the Mill this season were Grimsby and Carlisle, now we play them back to back and both are the in form teams of the division at the time.

1-1.

You probably won't see much of him, he'll be on our bench apparently but doubt he'll venture off it much and he'll be the opposite side of the pitch from the away fans.

So you base your opinion of teams in the league off of one match?

No, try it again.

I’m just saying Carlisle were one of the worst performances at the Mill this season, no more no less.

We will get hammered today as we have no manager.

It’s not just because we have no manager. We’d have lost this game with or without Sheridan

I know it's weird due to our form but we are the 'draw specialist' we will create enough chances to win this game a couple of times but it's rare we are actually clinical.

A draw always seems like a good shout, but if we do manage to finish one of our obvious sitters early on I think we will go on to win it.

Would love a draw here, I reckon Carlisle are a great side with some dangerous players.. thought they deserved a point earlier this season.

Here's something embarrassing for us.

As our programme went to print yesterday before Sheridan quit, it still contains his notes. Ending with the phrase:

'It's important that at this time, we all pull together'
