There's rumours all over Twitter right now linking HelloGregory with the position of ratchety doom and gloom spouting mega fan at Chesterfield. Anyone care to comment on this?

I’ve heard nothing about this. It’s probably just people putting 2 and 2 together, next thing you know I’ll be linked with Oldham or Plymouth. No I know nothing about that, there’s been no contact to me or my agent.

Whereas it was nice while it lasted everyone kept banging on about this run - including myself - and hopefully we can push on with a new one. Harnessed correctly a loss can do a lot of good in the long run.

It’s going to be a right one this year, that’s for sure

A couple of seasons ago, we were the team who had only lost once before the New Year. That was the time we had a terrible run of form and slipped from comfortably within the autos to fighting for a playoff place, and from being one of the last teams to have scored in every game, to going seven without scoring.

Don't think that'll happen to Mansfield though, there were a number of factors in our slide. Injuries to key players, a small squad, loss of Charlie Wyke being the main ones, and we'd been riding our luck a little through December. You could see we were due a run of poor form, but Mansfield didn't look like an overall bad team on Saturday, you could just see that they were better than the performance on the day, in the same way you can sometimes see that a team who outplays you on the day are playing out of their skins.

The Carlisle lad put in a really rash challenge which looked dodgy as from where we were but given the away end is in the next town I couldn’t be as accurate as a Carlisle fan.

It evidentl upset him and was booked for backchatting the ref, it must have continued from there.

It’s really out of character, he’ll probably get fined, serve his ban and come back stronger - he’s enough credit in the bank by some margin.

Will need Mellis to put in a better showing though, he was gash today.

Watching the highlights, Grainger's initial challenge is a bit of crop which many on Stagsnet were fuming about. Rare to get a straight red though if it isn't outright dangerous, it was Grainger's thigh which collided with Bishop and he came across Bishop rather than into him boot-first. They had a bit of previous though and as Grainger goes to help Bishop up he probably said something and the red mist just descended. With that happening so close to half time, Bishop seemingly hadn't had chance to calm down, you see him chasing Grainger down the tunnel. Who knows what happened down there (apparently it was a second booking rather than a straight red, so probably not the elbow to the face some are suggesting) but Bishop gets a second yellow.

This is what Grainger does all day long. Nowhere near as dishonest as the likes of Hylton and Rhead but he must be an absolute twat to play against, and probably in John Sheridan's case, the sort of character that a manager like Sheridan doesn't like having in the dressing room with him.

For what it's worth, despite picking up a few bookings, we're still top of the fair-play table.

The worst tackle your guys did was the the one 15 seconds into the match when Mellis was scythed down and he was never the same all game. Looked to me a deliberate plan to nobble our two good midfielders.

Bishop is talented ( at this level) , very committed 100% effort but not the brightest to say the least , so no real surprise
