The best defence in the league are being split wide open with ease, options

1. Carlisle are world beaters
2. Mansfield are wank
3. Mansfield have not turned up
4. Carlisle are playing well
5. A combo of #3 and #4.

Totally outplaying Mansfield. You’d expect a Mansfield fight back. Next goal very important, needs to be ours or I can see Mansfield coming back if they make it 2-1. You don’t lose only once all season and not have that fight in you. So we need to be on it second half.

Bishop needs to calm down, he’s lost his head.

Oh no I hate this being 2-0 up a half time and against a unbeaten team,

Better than losing yes, but damn this next 45 minutes is going to be nervous.

Mansfield will know they need to step it up so we need to get at them right away and not back off. If Mansfield want something out of this game then they should have to work very hard for it and we make it very hard for them.

I expected a reaction from our players and it looks like we've got that. My worry was if Mansfield had gone ahead, Wright and Murray wouldn't have the experience Sheridan has to address things. That could still be an issue and not to undersell the role the caretakers have played but so far the players have managed themselves pretty well.

As long as they have told them not to get carried away and that we have won nothing yet then there may be some hope.

You can guarantee Mansfield will throw everything at us.

If we’re going to fuck a game up we may as well do it in style!

Perfect storm 1st half, Carlisle sat back and broke well for their goals, literally everything fell for them and our balls into the box were absolutely abysmal.

Keep it down to 3/4 write it off. We’ve Yeovil and Crawley next

What a disaster today has been, completely unacceptable from Bish and he should be fined if he's got himself a second yellow in the tunnel.

Yes, the managerless team with no money to spend who go on and win the league, would be a fairy tale.

Kelvin Etuhu is becoming a machine, keep him and Sowerby fit and we’re laughing.

After 6 straight wins our squad will get completely ripped to shreds and weakened now. In typical Carlisle United style.

First half was madness, not seen us anything like that this season, it was utter toss. Carlisle’s goals were so basic, we were lethargic the set pieces were shocking and we looked knackered, then bishop goes and does that. Quite literally everything bounced for Carlisle, we were laughing at it (it happens, and has bounced for us this season - and isn’t an excuse for the loss).

The 2nd half showed why we are where we are, we played how we have been even with 10 men.

I was impressed with Carlisle, I don’t think they have the quality for a top 3 side, they’ll certainly be within a chance of the playoffs, but that’s just me opinion.

We had to lose sometime, we did today. We’ve Yeovil and Crawley in successive home games, get back on it boys. Onwards.

As for Carlisle as a town, nice lads again very welcoming as always and good banter in town, all the best for the rest of the season.

I saw Bishop going after Grainger at the tunnel. Hadn’t realised he’d been red carded until they came out for 2nd half. It was a mistimed challenge by Grainger which he rightly got booked for, but for such an experienced player Bishop completely lost it.

I expected a response from Mansfield and they gave one. They certainly didn’t roll over like some teams would 2-0 down with 10 men. However the chances and situations we found ourselves in second half, we really should have put the game to bed. We’d have only had ourselves to blame if they’d nicked a point with the chances and overloads we wasted. On clear chances it probably could have been 6-2.

We’ve been excellent recently. The midfield 3 have been key but the movement in the final third has been deadly. My worry now is that with our shower of shit owners, the squad gets weakened, we lose players, fail to replace them and we let this glorious opportunity that let’s be honest has sprung out of no where, slip away by drifting down into mid table.

The board will probably be thinking ah we’re safe from relegation so we can save a few quid over the next 5 months.

No complaints with the result and despite the first half being completely shocking we more than made up for it with the second.

Only the second loss of the season and our first away, so it's all about how we react against Yeovil at home which is pretty kind to be fair.

Is there an account anywhere of exactly what happened in the tunnel? If I see a full account I might change my mind but calling for a fine seems harsh. Given the quality of Bishop's performances this season I get the impression that he is professional enough to know exactly what went wrong without needing to fine him. Would just leave a sour taste given how excellent he's been in my opinion.

Disappointed to have lost but we have only lost twice in the league and we won the second half in this one with ten men so we're already back on track!

The Carlisle lad put in a really rash challenge which looked dodgy as from where we were but given the away end is in the next town I couldn’t be as accurate as a Carlisle fan.

It evidentl upset him and was booked for backchatting the ref, it must have continued from there.

It’s really out of character, he’ll probably get fined, serve his ban and come back stronger - he’s enough credit in the bank by some margin.

Will need Mellis to put in a better showing though, he was gash today.

I think he pushed Grainger in retaliation for the tackle and there was a bit of six of one which saw both players booked. According to someone they continued arguing in the tunnel and Bishop elbowed Grainger. Graingers pretty good at winding people up so I'm sure he figured out what buttons to press, there'd already been a bit of aggro where the Mansfield #4 lunged in on Grainger after a free kick had already been given and that saw bishop and Grainger square up a bit.

If that's what happened then that was stupid.

Without checking the match reports and barely attending any away games this season I don't recall any other examples of serious indiscipline (by that I mean red cards that could have been avoided). It doesn't seem there is a theme emerging so maybe just write it off as a freak day and pick it up if it happens in future rather than calling immediately for disciplinary action?

I don’t know if Bishop has had a bad couple of days or something but for someone so experienced he was just a red card waiting but to happen today. Maybe his tidy little apprentice bird has put him on a sex ban, I don’t know. It was like he’d turned up with a chip on his shoulder and was looking for trouble. As shoddy says he was involved in pushing in an earlier incident, then later on completely lost it and it boiled over at the tunnel.

It’s just such a bizarre game, that simply wasn’t bishop or mansfield. There’s no shame in the loss as Carlisle played well, broke well and were up for it. Again, I’m not entirely sure they’ve the quality to go on for the top 3, but they’re in form and anything’s possible.

I was pleased we came out in the 2nd half and really gave it a go, we were open and had to be to chase the game so to get to the last minute and still have a Chance was an excellent showing.

25th game of the season and it’s the first time we’ve conceded 3!

was one of the strangest games I've seen us involved in in a while. Mansfield just didn't turn up for the first half, didn't really arrive until they got that first goal which came through a free kick. Not the first time recently either that a team on good form haven't turned up against us. We passed it around really well, exemplified by the second goal where we took it up the left wing to the edge of the area, then went all the way back to our Keeper. Then took it up the right wing and scored. Mansfield were chasing shadows at times. Then we lost some of that discipline in the second half and Mansfield got back into it. Credit to them, I thought when we scored the third they'd crumble but they kept playing as though they were still only one down. Strange from Mansfield really though, they were very gung-ho, the lack of organisation, mixed with determination, they played like a team fighting for their lives down the bottom of the table with nothing to lose.

What a team we've got, at the moment that is, that was the best I've seen us play in years. First half it was two good teams and we took our chances, second-half we played some absolutely wonderful football, obviously helped playing 10 men but we looked so confident on the ball. Mansfield were a good team and battled right till the end, but the best team on the day won.

Couldn't pick anyone out as having a bad game, Nadesan will be a big big loss, so fast and never seems to tire, Sowerby has become a real influential player, Devitt was just unbelievable once again.
