Possible 4-4-1-1 as we are lacking strikers.

Aye, you definitely need strikers if you’re relying on JCH at this stage.

Ryan Allsop.

Steve Harriman.
Anthony Stewart.
Adam El-Abd.
Joe Jacobson.

Dom Gape.
Luke O'Nien.
Sam Saunders.

Paris Cowan-Hall.
Adebayo Akinfenwa.
Nathan Tyson.

It's pretty much the same XI as last season but for Allsop in goal and Stewart in central defence who missed the 2nd half of last season through injury.

That Wycombe side is certainly experienced.....

Or just plain old. El-Abd will get the runaround for certain.

Plenty of youth as well in Stewart,O'Nien who will start and more on the bench plus Ainsworth is looking to bring some loan players in. El Abd was shit for the first half of last season then suddenly realised he's supposed to be a pro footballer and was immense for the rest of the season, will be harder for him this season i agree.

Looking at that Wycombe team it will be a miracle if they stay up

He'll be a sub as he's just coming back from an injury, when he's back if Cowan-Hall is dropped our front 3 have a total age of 103 i believe.

Bloody hell!

Not meant as a slight on Wycombe but surely 20th place will be a successful season with that squad?

Definitely the weakest part if the team. We also have the rapidly improving Maxime Biamou and Jordan Ponticelli. Neither of the two have played this level before.

I think we might surprise a few people this season, i'm not saying we'll be anywhere near promotion but with our never giving up attitude and great team spirit lower mid table looks a possibility it all depends on which players we get in on loan one of which plays for Spurs and another for QPR. I imagine for most Wycombe fans staying up is themain target but i do believe we can do better than that.

I think this would be my team, although I think Wyke will be gone so his replacement.

However it wouldn't surprise me if the powers at be go 3 at the back. I'd also have Gibson on the bench for one of the CB's as Vincelot can play there and the other 2 are left sided, better to have more attacking options.

So, based on what I've seen of pre season so far, I'd go with this side if everyone was available and fit (this won't be the case for Portsmouth on the first day of the season). Although I don't think we'll stray from the diamond which worked so well last season, I'd go with the fashionable 3-5-2 formation.

GK Marek Stech

RCB Matty Pearson
LCB Alan Sheehan
CB Sonny Bradley

RWB Jack Stacey
LWB Dan Potts

DM Alan McCormack
CM Jorge Grant
CM Luke Berry

CF Danny Hylton
CF James Collins

In a 4-4-2 diamond, I'd swap out Pearson for Elliot Lee.
In a 4-3-3, I'd swap out Pearson for Harry Cornick who would then play LF.

There's a lot of very good players who are missing from that side: Harry Cornick has clearly improved as a player this summer and would be a certain starter if we went 3 up top. James Justin could easily fill in at either full back role; subject to a bid meeting our valuation not coming in. Andrew Shinnie will do better in L1 I'm certain of. Elliot Lee will probably fill in for Hylton on day 1, but would be disappointed he's not in this side as he has been banging the door down. Jake Jervis was bought for big money in January and needs to prove himself; Glen Rea just signed a new deal, Pelly Ruddock has been a long termer all could argue for a place.

Is that Micheal Harriman at RB for Wycombe? He was not league 1 standard during his loan spell with us, but I think he was only about 19 at the time.

Looking at these squads there is no doubt in my mind that we will at the very least make the playoffs.

Yep he was outstanding for us last season after returning from breaking his leg,for most Wycombe fans he will be starting every game at right back as he scores some cracking goals as well.

He was very good for us on loan a few seasons back too, certainly a very decent right back at League Two level at least.

We're still looking for another keeper and two more midfield players, but as things stand in a 4-4-2 it is probably something like this.

GK: Steve Arnold
RB: James Bolton
CB: Mat Sadler
CB: Toto Nsiala
LB: Omar Beckles
RM: Shaun Whalley
CM: Bryn Morris
CM: Jon Nolan
LM: Abo Eisa or Alex Gillead
FW: Stefan Payne
FW: Fejiri Okenabirhie

Overall that's looking fairly good.

We still have last seasons back four intact, which was clearly a strength last time out. We also still have our most creative influences intact in Nolan and Whalley plus last seasons top scorer in Payne.

Otherwise Eisa and Okenabirhie are very talented and I'm excited about how both will do this season.

I don't expect us to get close to hitting the heights of last season but I also don't expect anything in terms of a struggle as some, strangely in my view, seem to think is likely.

Looking very lower mid-table with little to no depth and only one fit centre half. Still need 4-5 players, but Dean Keates got us looking very tough to beat and organised so we're all worried at the lack of activity but still trusting of the manager to get the best out of them. Questions are more for the board.

Just checked, and Andrew/Henderson/Wilbraham are a mere 102... :)

Easily. Quality still very poor in this division.

Yep, if I wasn't a season ticket holder there's no way I'd be forking out the £25 a game that it's going to cost at Oakwell this season. Joke prices for poor quality football.

Honestly if you support Barnsley (or Oxford) and quality of football is anything more than a secondary concern then you made a dumb decision

if you had a decision to make in the first place. Does anyone follow Oxford (or Barnsley) by choice? Honestly.....
