He was bang average at Crawley until their, err, let's call it super-funding, miraculously appeared. He's never achieved anything without a generous (for the level) budget.

Regular top table finish with Crawley, even threatening the play-offs with fuck all money so nah he did a good job.

The ‘no players have a good word to say’ is a weird one too, because they do work their bollocks off for him - we never lost a local derby/rival while he was manager, he’s got a weird ability to put in some brilliant performances for important game.

You’ve got to have a bit of balance, plenty of criticism and positives re his managerial skills but on the personal level it’s all bad.

Hahahahahahahahaha!

Seriously though, sorry Gills. Cue the inevitable sending off next season at Kingsmeadow, we have a long history with that odious clown and our supporters know what buttons to press.

Looking at the latest pictures of him, I still think that he's a heart attack waiting to happen. He's the same age as me but he looks way older.

The women employees at our club will be happy we've been relegated, knowing they won't get flashed by the c*** next season.

That's the sad thing - we have as much history with the prick as anyone. Tried to get Gills fans arrested for racism, despite Fat Scottish Wanker being a pretty accurate description, tried to get one club legend in hot water when Hessenthaler was our boss, and has just completely undermined another club legend in Lovell, forcing him to walk.

That's before you even start on him as a person and his criminal history, or his bullying tactics, not to mention his laissez faire approach to spending clubs money. Part of me thinks Scally has appointed him to divert some of the negative attention from himself - for those that haven't seen it yet, take a few moments to read his press release yesterday. Sounds like a man on the edge to me. The pair of them together are highly combustible, and it wouldn't surprise me if in 18 months time neither were involved in the football club in any way.

It's sad because we actually have a young, talented squad now. Brandon Hanlan was really coming into his own towards the end of the season and ended on 9 goals in his first senior season, with several others coming through and making their mark in the first team - Regan Charles-Cook, Elliott List and Connor Ogilvie to name a few. They were all improving under Lovell and his softer approach to management, so how are they going to react to Jabba? Can't imagine this appointment is going to make Tom Eaves or Tomas Holy any more likely to stay - why would it?

Then there's the money issue. We had the second lowest budget in the league last season by all accounts, and finished 13th. Quite an achievement really. Evans spends money - everyone knows that. If we suddenly DO have vast sums to spend, then where was it last season when it was clear the squad needed investment? Ok, we got some loanees in January, but only Ricky Holmes had any pedigree and he didn't play a minute for us - can't imagine it cost us too much. If there's money suddenly available then it does stink a bit. Good for the club to not be in financial woe, yes, but trusting it to that man? Not for me.

I've seen a lot of people saying they won't go under Evans. I get that, I really do. Truth be told I didn't go to that many games last season anyway (think it was about 14, whereas normally I'd do about 30) as it's just too expensive for what it is and I can't warrant that cost anymore - nearly 30, other commitments etc. I don't know where I stand on a blanket refusal to turn up though. I'll support the players wearing a Gills shirt til the day I die, but the club around that is diminishing in terms of importance to me. The occasional away day can still be fun, but against a backdrop of anger, neanderthalic away fans and him in charge, I'm not sure if that's an environment I can see myself going into too regularly.

Not a good day for any Gills fan yesterday. Will automatically become the most hated team in L1.
To top it off, the Mail ran an article about a match that was played 20 years ago.:ffs:

Unsavoury bloke but a good manager at this level, I wouldn't be too disappointed if I was a Gills fan.

No but remember the fucking lardy bastard running down the touchline when Bowery put Rotherham 2-1 up against us on 89 minutes, the roly poly was soon sat down when we won it on 97.....flashing prick

I'll start Evans bingo off by his two favourites.

"My good friend Paul Ince" and "When I had a meal with Sir Alex, he said to me..."

He is human effluent. The way he has been welcomed by some of our fans leads me to believe they would accept Jimmy Savile as boss if a) he wasn't dead and b) could guarantee a top 10 finish with some nice passing football at home.

Fuck Steven Evans; Fuck Paul Raynor; Fuck Paul Scally for his pathetic last roll of the dice and fuck any Gillingham fan welcoming a "man" handed a ban for exposing himself to a female member of staff.

Supporting Evans means your moral compass is fucked.

January/February is when he left the last two jobs.
Signed 17 players at Peterborough and got rid of a similar number, the king of churn.
Especially now Holdsworth isn't managing these days!

Well we had quite a few players off contract that weren't offered new ones (probs on Evans say so) that have left. Most fans thought none of them were worth keeping anyway, so there's a fair hole in our squad for him to fill anyway.

As for "churning" through players. Good luck with that on our "budget". We won't have much of that at all, let alone the amounts that Peterboro, Rotherham or Crawley had.

Oh, and both Holy and Eaves WERE offered contracts, but Holy already gone and Eaves will be off.

I still reckon Evans' best season for Crawley was when he had no money at all. Cant recall the exact season but we had a squad of lower league kick outs after the Majid brothers left us (thank god). Players such as Kyle Blackburn who after leaving us went to play for Kings Lynn! The chairpersons son was a regular sub, not because of patronage but it was all we could get. With that ragtail and bobcat Evans managed to get us challenging for a play off place.

Then, just before the money, he had a bit extra cash and was persuading good players to come to Crawley and it was on the up. I sort of felt sorry for Lee Enver-Marum. An excellent signing suddenly blown out of the water when we could afford Tubbs and McAllister.

With constraints, Evans can do well with not a lot but his other side does make you cringe.
