Having just beaten high-fliers Birmingham away from home, a week after turning over Cardiff City at home and ten days after giving league leaders Brighton a run for their money. And the week before gained a point at Charlton.

The board wanted to go upwards. Management didn't mind which direction as long as there was a cafe.

Strange decision, because love him or loathe him, Evans did a good job with Rotherham. Took them from being a small Sheffield club in League 2 to being a small Sheffield club in the Championship with aspirations to being a small Sheffield club in League 1.

I'm looking forward to reading the views of Lee Gregory and Millwall fans, anyway. Pity there isn't a vacancy up in Bradford, as well.

Who is going to be the man to take Rotherham back down a division? Ronnie Moore? Sep Blatter? My money's on Carvalhal.

Umm, the guy lifted Rotherham from League 2 into the Championship on little money and with a small fanbase. Would like to see any number of Premier League "special ones" do that. You make it sound like he's had huge amounts to play around with. He hasn't. Not since the Revenue had a sniff round his capacious underpants some years back.

Also when you won the League one 2013/14 they definitely had a top 6 budget and spent a load of money. Rotherham had pot loads to spend in League 2 and also spent plenty in League one, by pot loads i mean in comparison to majority of clubs not in comparison to Championship budgets hence why last year they punched above their weight.

Decided to elaborate on this a bit.
When they won the playoffs in League 1 they didn't have "a top six budget" and they actually spent very wisely. They had the highest turnover to wages ratio of any club currently in the Championship (by quite a margin) so they were spending well within their means.
Although the 2014/15 accounts are not yet out for clubs and their financial performance may not be as good in the Championship, Rotherham were one of the three best run of the current crop of Championship clubs. When they jumped out of League 1, they had a lower wage bill than five other Championship teams that were then in League 1 and probably at least a handful more.

You may not like Rotherham and you may not like Evans but they are a well run club with what appears to be a stable financial footing (at least until 2013/14).

Yes i am not disputing Championship finances, i am saying in League one and Two with both Crawley and Rovrum he had loads to spend hence they rightly were expected to go up, now they are a small fish in a big pond and one of the lowest budgets and spenders.

Gutted. What a manager he's been for us. Will go down as a RUFC legend without doubt. Also met him on several occasions and is a top fella despite his reputation within the game.

Still unclear what's gone off. Must be something serious as him and the chairman have always been very close.
