Not in this case as they were doing it when winning and we were terrible in attack.

Give us three points on Easter Monday and we will get Bikey to sort them out on the last day for him ;)

Based on our recent home form/general tiredness you have every chance of winning on Easter Monday. He can sort them out anyway. :bg:

We've played a stupid amount of games recently and our away form is Won 1 D 6 L12 so regardless how you home form is we can beat it in the shitness stakes!

They carried on in this period.

Think you're on your own on this one mate.

Teenagers or inexperienced players being targeted as a weakness is nothing new. Rightly or wrongly this is just part of the game, get inside the head of the youngster and hope it forces him into some mistakes. Much like a player on a yellow card is often a target, in the hope he makes a rash challenge or reacts badly to a challenge on him. Bit of gamesmanship perhaps, but has always been there. Either up to the referee to stop it or the manager to take his player out of there.

Don't have problem with him being targeted as such with gamesmanship or even chippy challenges to get a reaction but the challenges were with malice (for want of a better word) and no 12 certainly left nothing out in his challenge without bothering about the ball.

I know it happens but imo lacks any class. As I said previously smacks of a Westley tactic.

I don't think the manager should do that if he wants his players to get experience and make a contribution. Honestly, I think we needed more from our captain and our centre backs and anyone else who might fancy themselves in this respect. If someone's bullying our younger players then the leaders need to be standing up for them - we didn't have anywhere near enough of that and it's one of our bigger weaknesses.

If we are going to be a lightweight team (and we are - I'm not a Wimbledon fan so I can take criticism of my own side) then we need to get better at influencing referees in our own way. In L2, Maguire, Hylton and Roofe were so far ahead of the defenders that they could bait them into red cards and penalties. We haven't got that as much this year and that's why we are feeling more frustrated with how games are being managed.

It makes me feel a bit grubby to agree with you here, but when we were 'battling' with Bristol City and Franchise a few years back, this was exactly what we were like. If you take the top of the table clash at that time against Bristol City they had a lad sent off in the first minute due to this exact kind of tactics that we employed. Its not something that I personally like, but as you correctly allude to, if you have a lightweight team, you have to play to your strengths and try in any way possible to get the referee to influence things to allow you to play the open, expansive, free flowing football that we tried to play.

We weren't particularly popular with opposition fans and had a bit of a reputation of having a team full of cheats, but I would happily go back to those days than being involved in the current relegation thumb war (Its not much of a battle given the fight we have been showing) we are in.

Hardly any teams who've come to VP since we first dropped into League 2 about 9 years ago have not employed gamesmanship. It's satisfying now that we aren't a bad side watching a team cheat all game then go behind in the 70th minute and frantically try to get back in the game.

In League 2 at times it was embarrassing watching teams like Dagenham who were about 10 places above us come to VP and time waste in the 30th minute when it was 0-0. Hopefully won't have to go back to that for a while.

I think diving and play acting - and we certainly had a bit of the former - is one thing. To be honest I have no problem with my team attempting dribbles and skills in the box to try and draw a foul.

The only thing that will actually piss me off is the teams with players who will go in recklessly when it could potentially end a career. Fleetwood (for my money) calculated what they could do that would earn a yellow and no more. They did it methodically, to break up play and stop counter attacks. I didn't personally see anything dangerous and so I see them playing the same game in a different way, and that's why I didn't really have a problem.

No I agree with you about the play acting and diving, it wasn't really what I meant and I certainly didn't think we were any worse than any of the other sides that season.

Very big win for us today.

We defended fantastically against a very physical Bolton side and kept our first clean sheet in god knows how long.

Good weekend for us, don't want to say it yet but could possibly push us into contention. Bristol Rovers vs Millwall last game of the season could become very interesting.

Are we back in contention? We need Southend and Millwall to drop 2 games at the very least. Millwall on the last day could be very tasty.

Congrats Blades.

Just when we get rid of Blades, Bolton and, hopefully Bradford, we get Rotherham, Wigan and Blackburn as replacements.

That's if we scrape enough to stay up, of course.

We are usually at least three points a season for you to be fair.

Congrats, about time you got out of here, two biggest clubs leaving league one this season. One going down and the other up.

Won't even begrudge you your pitch invasion either even after all the shit Sheffield utd fans threw our way earlier in the season.

No chance this year, you refused to defend all game at ours, just your keeper, the post and shit finishing bailed you out until we eventually scored.
