Unfortunately that is normal practice. Massively unfair, but the whole industry has a distinct lack of regulation so there's not a lot you can do about it.

Starting autumn 2016, I'll be playing 4+ (football) matches, refereeing 1-2 matches, and doing a lot of homework. Advice on how to manage it all?

Stop wasting your time and posting on here. You've got plenty of time to do that, no bother.

Not sure whether anyone here will be able to help but it is worth a shot.

Last year I was stabbed in the head with a broken bottle. The guy was charged, and I found out today that it went to court but the prosecution failed to serve the papers and as a result he is free. I have been told that he may be recharged/reindicted over it.

How do I go about making sure this happens? Who do I contact? CPS? Or the police?

Might seem a bit much or whatever, but this c*** deserves to be behind bars. He has previously done time for killing someone (manslaughter) after he stabbed them with a knife, he started the fight with a friend, and then stabbed me in the back of the head when I was holding another friend back, clearly no threat. I want to make sure he doesn't have the ability to ruin anyone else's life, I'm quite lucky that he didn't do serious damage.

Any advice/pointers on where to find information?

Bit random but I know theres a few aquarium enthusiast's on here...

I'm looking at getting some pet shrimp cos why not? And upgrading from the sea monkeys of old to actual big things!

So does anyone have any recommendations for which fresh water shrimp are easiest to care for? And ideally ones that can live together for a bit of variety?

Do people take different approaches when trying to date someone with a bit of distance between you? Really like this girl I met recently and she seems to reciprocate but she's studying in Birmingham and I'm in Yorkshire. I'm keen not to let things slide as I think there's more potential for everything to stop quickly in this situation, but wary of coming across too strong/keen. Thoughts?

I've got pretty much the same problem. Just gonna wing it. If it works out it works out if it doesn't it doesn't.

I've an added problem of having been on a few dates with another girl (far from anything serious) but I just know who is right for me now if everything works out so got to cut that off somehow too.

Anyone got any experience with getting mobile phones repaired? My girlfriend's phone battery life is rubbish even though it's only six months old, but I'm struggling to get anyone to take responsibility for it. It's a Samsung phone, I've been to the Samsung shop in Norwich who have tried a few things, including replacing the battery, without any effect, and are now suggesting they'd need to send it off somewhere for weeks to fix it.

I've also been to O2, who sold the phone and contract, but their ideas are essentially 'take it to Samsung' or 'don't use anything that might drain the battery' (i.e. anything). I feel like it should be O2's responsibility to do something about it as they sold it, but I don't know what the law says and what I can say to them.

Cheers, O2 have now agreed to fix it so hopefully that'll be the end of it.

Thanks for all the wonderful advice guys. Quick update:

My shrimp arrived today, here they are acclimatising to their new tank:

And making friends with the snails (it's touch and go whether the damaged one will survive, please keep her in your thoughts):

And here's Blade enjoying his freedom and the moss ball:

All shrimp doing fine. Bluey, Blade, Snowball (the clear one), Brain (the pink one), Donald (the yellow topped one) and Trump (the orange one) all send you their best wishes.

Quick update: after not moving since being transferred to the tank for about 10 hours yesterday I really feared the worst for Gloria. But I am pleased to report that in true Gloria fashion she rallied and has been heard singing "I will survive" on several occasions today, even managing a lap of the tank. You rock Gloria!

Dear Deirdre,

There's this user on here that keeps trying to ask me out on a date

I've told him I'm not interested in him romantically 2 or 3 times now but he won't stop

What should I do?

Dear Freaky,

Maybe if you stopped telling him you were interested they would stop asking you out on a date. A better approach would be to be honest with them instead of leading them on.

Good luck,
D x

Apologies for digging this one up!

Home insurance (and when I move in, contents insurance, too). Any suggestions on which of the many companies offer the best package and price?

I've sold home insurance for the past 10 years. AXA have always had the best cover for buildings and contents at a decent price too.
