I think back to Blues at Bolton last day of the season two years ago, the joyous scenes when we're two nil down staring into the abyss "we're Bolton Wanderers, we're sending you down" ringing in our ears....

Karmas a bitch.

Wasn't our most flattering performance that season granted.
but you were the best team in the division that season and earned the title and plaudits.....

However we overhauled our biggest rivals so will always be happier!

Going into that game we knew it was you that had to catch us so we came for the point, the game wasn't helped by the fact we got the first goal but as I was saying earlier in the thread, we didn't always play pretty football but did what we had to do to get the job done.

You overhauling the Blades is just as good an achievement as us romping the league in my opinion, I remember about March time we lost two on the bounce and I started fearing they would catch us and nick the title, the fact they not only didn't finish 2nd but that they weren't even promoted is incredible.

With 90 points as well, and five years on they still sit there.....

Didn't the Ched Evans incident fuck them up pretty badly?

Probably didn't help, but he went away in April with only a couple of games left.

Just had a look, in their remaining 3 games they failed to win. A 1-0 loss and 2 score draws. He'd scored 14 in 11 up to that point, he probably would've been the difference! Even if not the league then in the playoffs. Poor bastards.

Possibly. They did still make it to the PO final though, only losing on penalties.

What's the story with Nick Pope Charlton fans?? I noticed he was in the team again a few weeks ago? Do you guys rate him? He'll be a good number 1 choice in League 1.

Yeah back in the side as Henderson is injured again.

He was awful during his last spell in the side, spilled everything which resulted in a few goals. Slightly better during this spell but still spilled a couple in the game against 'Boro.

Ideally, we'd keep Henderson and he stays fit but the likelihood is we'll probably end up with Pope as the no1. I'd rather we tried to get someone else in though in all honesty.

Last game of the season when you came to Deepdale is one of my favourite football moments. Graham Alexander scoring an equaliser with practically the last kick of the game from a free-kick in his final career appearance. Don't think I've ever celebrated a goal like that with nothing riding on the result!

The game at Hillsborough was a complete farce. We started with a non-league centre half up front on his own. That was the moment most of us realised Westley wasn't quite right mentally.

Westley.

Aaron Brown remains the most ridiculous decision i've ever witnessed. A centre back who was released by Aldershot, playing up front at Hillsborough with Iain Hume on the bench. Andy Procter in midfield, Nicky Hunt at right back...

Fuck Westley.

From a selfish/greedy point of view, I was a bit gutted at the time as it meant we could only equal Fulham's record total of points and not claim it for ourselves but you really couldn't write a better script than that from a Preston perspective.

Incidentally, the game at our place was probably the best we played all season, we were unplayable. Our 5th goal in particular was pure class at the start of the second half, shame we stopped playing for the last 10 mins and let you get 2 back.

I'd forgotten about that game, I didn't go thankfully. Seem to remember Tsoumou got his first goal for us. Or maybe Keammar Daley... I can't remember ha

Just looked it up, it was Daley. We had Andreas Arestidou in net ffs

It was Kemar Daley, tidy overhead kick actually.

I can't believe some of the players we had over that 2 1/2 year period, we loaned Anthony Elding from fucking Conference Grimsby...

Were you at that game at Rochdale just after Christmas? We chanted Keammar Daley's name for a good 25 minutes, he came on and was fucking atrocious

Think Harry Bunn might have scored for us. edit: nope, it was Jake Jervis ha

Genuinely surprised at that mate!
The rest i totally agree with WTGR to L1.

I'm not. League one is probably about Millwall's level! They're no bigger than the Gas IMO.

Nah, wasn't at that one but remember him having some hype about him.

I don't think Jervis was that bad, anonymous and a bit raw but he picked up good postions. Harry Bunn looked decent to me, scored on his debut, fell out with Westley and was sent back after one game, doing alright for Huddersfield these days it seems.

There was Chris Holroyd as well... never seen anyone hit the woodwork as much as him.

It's like when you look back at those forgotten players from the 90's but this was 3 fucking years ago...

Luke Foster, an old, overweight Lee Trundle. A truly dark time.

Yeah, we picked the fucker up after he was released by Matlock Town...

He actually wasn't one of the worst centre backs Westley signed.

Pretty much backs up what I said, he's not very good.

I see, I always thought he should have had a season in League 1 with us. Would have helped all parties in my opinion. It's a big jump from League 2 to Championship tbh.
