Carlisle fans pretending they’re relegation candidates is more tedious than when Grimsby did it last season given the squad, the manager and the inevitable January splurge.
We were absolutely in the relegation mix last season.

Anyway according to Pete O’Rourke we’re looking at Iain Wood from Barrow for our sporting director role.

Williamson is on a rolling contract, so either party can walk away any time, which is an interesting way of doing things, especially given Carlisle paid comp. From https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/24612751.new-carlisle-united-boss-wants-brunton-park-fortress/
United, meanwhile, have clarified the nature of Williamson's contract after his appointment last week.

The club confirmed that the head coach's deal is a rolling contract, rather than a deal lasting a particular number of years.

Rolling contracts are the norm these days rather than a set number of years.

Usually 6 (or 12) months rolling contracts. Means the club can get rid and ‘only’ pay up the 6 months. If a manager wants to move on, the new club have to pay 6 months to the original club

Yeah, pretty much what I’ve heard. Rolling contract with a 12 month payoff if we want to terminate it and a similar release clause if another club want to take him. Gives both sides some security.

Played reasonably well in the first half yesterday but struggled to get out after the break. Defence looking more organised, and Harry Lewis is finally starting to look like a quality goalkeeper. Just a shame we can't convert chances when we're on top in games. Jordan Jones the latest victim of the injury curse which haunts this club, 10/11 first team players now on the sidelines. Callum Guy, Ethan Robson, and Taylor Charters to return over the next 3-4 weeks. No idea how this plays out - we may yet pull well clear of the bottom end of the table, but until we do...

3-4 weeks is optimistic for those 3.

Williamson said Charters and Robson will be back in full training in a few weeks. Then reckon it will be another couple of weeks at least after that.

As for Guy… Haven’t even given a timescale for return to full training. I wouldn’t expect him back in the team before December.

Need to pick up wins before then otherwise we’ll be too far adrift.

Ever since that stupid Qatar World Cup there seems to have been injury issues at lots of clubs……I still think that smaller following summer did about of damage.

Although us deciding to sign every crock available hasn’t helped

Guy is 'back on the grass' (insert comedic comment here) along with Robson and Charters, though that doesn't necessarily mean he's as close to full training as the other two. I'd still expect to see him on the bench mid-to-late November. He's had a long layoff, so unlikely to be risked as soon as Robson and Charters could be.

Totally agree that we need to start picking up wins. Won't be easy at Wimbledon though, and next up after them is the dreaded bogey...

Wimbledon is a complete write off in my opinion. They’ll destroy us with the team we have available. Far too competent to slip up at home.

I long for the day we can let this thread drift into oblivion due to us not being beleaguered anymore.

But that is a long long way away.

Great to see Callum Guy and Taylor Charters on the bench tonight, and equally to see the youth lads getting a run out in this abomination of a competition.

Both Guy and Charters get half an hour. Let's hope they come through it unscathed...

Huge and unexpected positive news Callum Guy returning.

Obviously we aren’t going to see the full version of him for a while, but even if we can get him to 60% he’ll be better than a lot of them that are in our team now. It’s about managing him now so he doesn’t suffer a relapse

Think he’ll still be a couple of weeks from starting. Certainly won’t be ready for 90 minutes on Saturday, maybe a brief cameo from the bench. Robson won’t be far off either.

Heard a rumour last night that Wyke and Biggins are now injured and set to miss this weekend. Hopefully it’s bull shit but if true we are in big big trouble in the short term.

It's not just them, it's also Armstrong, Vela, Neal, Harper, Davies, Ellis, Lavelle, Barclay and Harry Lewis too.

But it's allright because Super John Mellish is fit and available.

Yeah my confidence in this team staying up has been dwindling.

It’s now gone. We are going down.

Totally agree, we are going down. I'd said we were 'in a battle', but there is literally no battle in the majority of this squad of 'professional footballers'.

The big issue is we need to frankly get back to bloody basics first…..build from the back we ship goals for fun and when you watch the goals 9 times out of 10 the other side is doing next to nothing to score it’s on numerous occasions basic errors, amateur defending, schoolboy issues.

Until that is sorted nothing else matters as we cannot even begin to get into a game anyway.

Whether it needs just one quality player to bring better out the others or an entire replacement Job is another question.

We're the worst team ever in the history of football.

For our club the end is nigh.

Please have pity on us.

Why do Bradford city fans love gloating? I mean I expect it on Twitter/X, but it’s on here as well.

If you were the worst team in the football league I honestly wouldn’t be taking the piss. I’m not that kind of person.

Maybe the reaction of some of your moronic fanbase at the end of the play off 2nd leg, gloating and throwing bottles at us has something to do with it?

Plus Harry leaving us to 'better himself' despite his so called love-in with our fans and our City

I couldn’t help the cheap shot, the Lewis hero to zero move is just one that still pangs a bit.
For what it’s worth I’m convinced there’ll be two worse teams than Carlisle, hangovers from last season/new league/new manager are never quick fixes but it’s still early in the season in a league where a few wins on the spin shoot you up the league.

So Chesterfield/Wrexham/Notts County/Grimsby/Stockport/Bromley fans, what's the National League like now?

Carlisle will be fine eventually. They have enough good players there. Problem is between Simpson and Williamson that’s a pretty big sea change in the style of play so never going to be improving instantly.

Lots of good, bad and ugly#stain

Great place to allow a less pressurised reset and for us and a few others it's proven to be very beneficial.

You will win a lot more games down there but my advice is don't stay too long. Ask Wrexham and Stockport they will tell you more... much more.
