Who did you class as your rivals last time you payed a visit to non-league?

Barnet and Stevenage.

As for local rivals probably no one, Morecambe came closest for that but we were only down there for one season.

Another win for Carlisle is on the way, we ruck up on the 28th and we haven't won away since Boris Johnson started supporting us!

Oh and no Scum, we won't enjoy the national league and we won't be fabricating a non existent rivalry with Gateshead like we have with Bradford.

You know what I'm talking about.:fing:

There was no one really although it was first time we met Scarborough after jimmy glass so expected that to be feisty at the time.

Barnet ended up hated with such a passion by many during that season they still can be classed a rival now…..all started because they dared to actually win their game vs us.

See i thought that, then I went to barnet away a few years ago and quickly realised that 'rivalry' was gone. It was that team that were a bunch of pricks (King, Bailey, Grazioli, Hendon etc) that our fans disliked, rather than the fanbase or club.

If your lot think that Matt Taylor and George Friend are going to leave us for a club who is at the bottom of the 4th Division --- Then I think this thread should be re-named The DELUDED Carlise Utd thread.

If you think that Brizzle Rovers is a prize job for a management team, you could do with a DELUDED thread of your own.

I did'nt say or hint at that -- Did I Moonie. I simply stated I thought ( some ) of your fans are deluded if you think Taylor & Friend who were recently appointed and have been given a substantial transfer budget for a Third Division club would suddenly up sticks and join Carlise at the rear end of the 4th. Suggest you read before you comment next time.

Half an hour before kick-off and Carlisle slide into a regelation position (Accy somehow only get a point at home to Vale), can todays game help in their quest for salvation?

Asking for a friend!

I'd suggest that it's not as wild of a suggestion as it may once have been.

Money talks. MK have a big league 2 budget, and Williamson was given the benefit of it. Yet something lured him from there. Coin in pocket is important to most people.

A good ugly away win today and what a feeling it is to actually win for once and keep a clean sheet!

So much for Mike Williamson being a manager who can never win away because he only plays progressive football.
Swindon had more of the possession and chances, yet we won thanks to two goals from two set pieces.

We were trying to play from the back first half. it turned into an ugly performance because we’re crap at it.

Big win though, and good to get a clean sheet now. Need to be better though. That level if performance won’t be enough most weeks.

Probably more down to the fact that Swindon are absolutely gash tbf.

What on earth is going on with the DOF position??

Did they literally only have a blank page with the MK Dons dof on the page and nothing else and now don’t have a clue what to do?

They surely have not just seen that no dons vs Carlisle game and decided without any interviews…….’that’ll do’

After wasting craploads of cash in two transfer windows on an awful squad of players they cannot go into January with gregg abbot there a third time wasting yet another crapload of cash.

There was a pic going around last week of what was supposedly Alex Neil’s car at Brunton park. Presumably for talks over the job, but if he’d accepted it I’m sure we’d have heard about it by now.

It seems our mutual hate-fest with Bromley from our NL days has cooled. Andy Woodman didn’t slag us off for being an arrogant club, shook David Artell’s hand and had a pleasant chat apparently and I don’t think he even ranted about being robbed by dodgy penalty. Still the away game to come of course.

I’ve been saying confidently that I think we’ll stay up.

I’m now starting to edge the other way. I’m not at the point of saying we’re going down, but I’m getting close.

What an utter mess Simpson has left.

I thought you were woeful first half but unlucky to not score the second. No idea why you gave us so much time first half, you just let us stroll around for the most part.
You must have scouted us at Morecambe where the strong press worked well against us and once you got at us it was backs to the wall, just left it too late.
Pretty sure we've played you at a good time and you'll pick up results very soon.

Thankfully you now have the fiery Williamson to rile up the lads…

Carlisle fans pretending they’re relegation candidates is more tedious than when Grimsby did it last season given the squad, the manager and the inevitable January splurge.

Yeah no idea myself either... the exact opposite of what we did against Grimsby... granted we lost late on in that game but I at least assumed we'd look to build on what were some positive signs from the first half of that game.

It’s why I felt pretty confident about last night - Williamson wanted a football match where both teams were allowed to knock it about, and while it was that we were just miles better at it.

I think you’ll be fine, though, could tell there was a bit of quality about you and the last 20 mins was the most we’ve been under the pump all season. Albeit we’d taken off like our four best players on the night by then, so not sure how it might have looked if you’d gone for the high press and more direct style from the start.

We’ve lost 47 out of our last 57 games. 7 out of 9 this season. Most losses in the football league, most goals conceded in the football league.

I’m still just about confident we can stay up, but we’re 100% relegation candidates. How can we not be with this type of record?

And I did say all summer the squad isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I said bottom 6 standard. Quality in some areas but weak as piss in too many other (key) areas.

Williamson just needs to get back to his Gateshead days, I seen them vs Curzon and while a very good team they weren’t and all conquering all passing side, you can pass the ball about to death at conf north level but to get promoted you have to mix it up because of the type of sides you face.

I disagree with LS Bantam on looking at the relegation battle…….you have to think your in one when hitting 10 odd games and losing most of them and down the bottom…….the sides that don’t usually get caught.

The defence is utterly atrocious and needs first focus, when your only plan to actually defend is just keep everyone bad one player in defence you can tell it doesn’t work.

Good sides can push men forward knowing they won’t instantly be f*cked if other side gets the ball. The one positive is that can be just one player from turning about, if we can find an organiser, a talker someone to get the others doing the right jobs it can work…….finding that one player is the issue we struck lucky back in 2004 with Kev Grey and again two years back with Huntington.

I feel Armstrong and wyke would get goals with support and we have better midfielders to return from injury

But have a feeling we may have to rely on away points for now the home atmosphere is a little toxic and not going to inspire players to perform.
