It says everything about the state of this club that we have brought in more players than probably any other club in England this season, may have had 40 plus players and yet here we are in February and have only 4 actual players in the entire club who can play in defence, all of them as centre backs.

I'm sure it's not true, but Mark Kennedy appears to be getting linked to the Carlisle job. Wouldn't recommend it.

We are the worst team in the football league heading for back to back relegations.

Good managers won’t be queuing up for it.

If we can’t get someone who is 100% the right man, I hope we’re not going to “make do” with someone. I’d rather we just let a caretaker see us through the season, as I think we’re 100% going down anyway. Might as well get it right now or get it right in the summer. Don’t make do with the least shit of a bad bunch.

If they were planning on sacking Williamson then you'd have thought they'd have someone lined up? There's no real time to go through an extensive recruitment process at this stage of the season.

Think they were throwing all their eggs in the Ian Evatt basket. I’ve heard he had talks yesterday but couldn’t come to an agreement and he has now walked away.

It won’t be an extensive process. We’ll have someone by the weekend I’m sure. Whether it will be anyone decent is a different matter.

I don’t think our owners prepared for this, had they acted on Boxing Day we’d had a lot of options as you could promise an entire new set of players……..whatever they wanted.

What can you offer now apart from a summer re build.

I wanted Adam’s as a next season option but if they have to just do a short term offer for now I’d just plump on Peter Murphy, he’s not done great as QOS but he would inspire the fanbase being our longest serving player

It is Kennedy. I’ve heard it from someone this evening he’s well in the frame.

What the actual fuck are we doing?

To be fair Hughes’s as a long term manager…..no, he’s no chance of progressing club.

Hughes maybe as an experienced manager to settle the ship……..possibly

So look, there's a coach called Mark Hughes, who's sometimes been spoken of as a potential EFL manager. It's unlikely to be him because he's only just gone to Bolton Wanderers as part of Steven Schumacher's team as Assistant Coach, (he's been one of Schumacher's main right hand men at a few clubs), but normally I'd say there's more chance of him being given an EFL job than THE Mark Hughes.
And he'd be an infinitely better choice. not that i know much about him, and I'm not sure he's even ever been an interim manager, but honestly, most of us on this forum would be a better appointment for you in these circumstances than Sparky. He may have a situation that suits him. I just really don't think it's this.

Begging suspended with Hughes clear favourite.

I mean if it’s between Hughes and Kennedy… probably Hughes, just. But we might as well have kept Williamson.

We’re down anyway regardless.

He's been a drag anchor everywhere he's been.
Dean Brennan at Barnet would be a good shout I think. He took over a mess at Barnet and held them together and has moved them forwards.
He might keep you up but he has the know how to stabilise you if you go down.
