Congratulations on the win on Thursday lads (I only just saw the result), sweet to do that to a local rival under your current circumstances.

Whatever happens looks like it'll be an exciting end to the season.

The other night you said we should start getting used to posting in the non-league forum and to look forward to playing in the FA trophy.

So I appreciate that you've changed your tune towards us now. I hope you lot go up automatically instead of Wycombe who really have a poor support base.

I've said many times that I don't want Carlisle to go down. But that time specifically, and immediately after a frustrating Wrexham loss in the BSM semi final, you went on the League one board to take the piss, and that annoyed me.

I don't want you or Tranmere to go down. I want Accrington, Morecambe or Harrogate to go down. They've had a good run but now it's time for them to go back to non-league.

For what it's worth I reckon our chances of being relegated are around 55% roughly a 4/5 - 5/6 shot. Which in anyone's book is a fair fighting chance.

The bookies generally give us a 60% chance of relegation at 4/6.

After the Swindon defeat I had us at a 65% chance of relegation or 8/15.

I reckon those are realistic numbers considering everything.

Saying we have a 100% chance of relegation is simply poor mathematics.

Until I see this team prove that it can back up a win, there is no reason to think it can stay up.

This is our 6th win of the season and after each of the first 5 we have failed to build on it and have followed it up with a month or even 2 months of utter shit. Hell I could even look back at the whole of last season and see the same pattern. Continue that and we’re down. I don’t know what’s controversial about that.

I base my Carlisle United views on what I’ve actually seen the team produce, not blind baseless hope. No need to be a prick to me because of that.

I’d love nothing more than the team to prove otherwise and do what it’s failed to do for the past 2 years by going on a run. But you won’t see me announcing that we’re staying up after one win in a month. If that makes me a wet vagina so be it.
The season we won the playoffs you were predicting a defeat every match if I remember correctly. A stopped clock is correct twice a day.

I admit, I didn’t predict us to win promotion that season. Didn’t see it coming at all.

But equally, i didn’t predict relegation this season. Didn’t see it coming at all (I refer you to the predictions thread if you suspect I am not telling the truth)

Obviously as the season has progressed and I’ve seen the shit tip we put on the pitch every week that prediction has since changed and I do absolutely see us being relegated. I do hold my hands up whenever I do get it wrong. But it’s not crime of the century.

Carlisle have taken 5 points from their last three games and haven’t conceded a goal in those games. They have a new manager and if they win their game in hand they will be out of the relegation places.
Having played both Carlisle and Morecambe in the past couple of weeks Morecambe are far worse.
I know they aren’t in a great place but this talk of being 100% down is quite frankly laughable

Laughable from afar maybe and based off a one off game.

I’ve watched Carlisle all season and I’ve yet to see us build on a win. Its always one win a month (at best) then a run of defeats with the odd draw thrown in.

Unless that changes we will be relegated. I’m not wrong in saying that.

Based off previous I’ve no reason to think things are suddenly going to change.

I’d love to be proved wrong, but I won’t be.

I get that mate, and you have obviously seen a lot more of them than me, but my point is something has changed I.e. the manager. You have clearly tightened up at the back which needed to be done.
You are not cast adrift by any means and you still have a fighting chance. In fact, with your game in hand it is actually in your own hands.

The only person who is stating 100% down is Hellogregory.
Everyone else is realistic and acknowledges we have a fighting chance. What's the point of playing or supporting if you have a defeatist attitude.
13 games left and 3 points adrift, give over with this 100% nonsense.

Genuine question…

Why do I get hammered for saying I 100% think we’re going down, but you can say on 7th December that you’re 100% convinced we’ll stay up.

I'm 100% convinced we'll be safe.

What's the difference? At least I’m basing my thinking on what the team has actually been producing over a long period of time.

On the 7th December, we were on a decent run. We'd given Wigan a good game in FA Cup, picked up points against high flying Doncaster and Crewe and important players like Guy and Kelly were coming back from injury. There was half a season left and it looked like we were starting to click with a transfer window approaching to strengthen. Loads of reasons to be optimistic.
Didn't work out of course.
Now, our new signings are settling in, injured players coming back and we've clawed 4 points off the relegation gap in 2 weeks. A new, high profile, experienced manager in who has got off to a decent start. 13 games left, only 3 points adrift. A fighting chance.
Nobody is 100% relegated or promoted till the maths are the maths.
Thank you for trawling through my posts, a bit petty, but point taken.

I love your glass half full viewpoint Tallow, I really admire it. I just don’t share it, that’s all. Do you want me to lie and say I think the team will stay up when I genuinely don’t believe it?

I wanted you to be proved correct back in december and i still do. “Didn’t work out of course” is the key bit of what you’ve said there. You can apply that to the booms of optimism following every win we had this season and last. Each and every time it didn’t work out of course.

That’s why for me, until this team proves it can actually back up a win with more wins over the following weeks, then how can I have any faith in it staying up? I have to look at previous.

It didn’t take much trawling through btw. I remember you saying it, a simple search found it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our performance tonight. Committed, determined, resilient and deserved the point. Sadly just lacking the quality to really do any damage to teams. If only we’d fired Williamson in December when we should have, brought Hughes in then so he could have identified the areas we are lacking and addressed them in January. Instead we wasted the whole window with Williamson and brought in a load of inadequate useless crap and it’s going to cost us our league status.

All feels too little too late but it does give us some hope for the future and more performances like that before the season is out should give us something to build on ahead of the national league season.

The reason I still think we’re going down is morecambe have got goals and wins in them, particularly on their potato patch of a pitch. And I believe Tranmere after sacking Adkins will do enough. Where as us I don’t think we do have enough wins in us mainly due to the sheer lack of quality we have in the final third.

But it’s a positive night, the most enjoyable home performance of 2025 without doubt..

Carlisle looked OK today. A bit better than when they came to the Bescot.

If we had Nathan Lowe we would have won that 4 nil though - but currently our most dangerous player is a left centre half.

See for us, looking OK is amazing. Like can’t believe this is happening to us type of amazing.

But why 4-0 and not 4-1? Would Nathan Lowe have leaped above Aaron Hayden to stop the header?

You definitely looked like you had enough for a fight.

Haha! We just had so much more confidence and swagger about us with Lowe in the team, brought everyone else up to his level. Without him we look nervous and vulnerable to things like set pieces - like a mindset thing.

Too little too late?

You win your game in hand you're out the relegation zone. And that's with another 11 games left.

Don’t see us scoring enough goals to get us enough wins. That’s why I think it’s all too little too late.

If we’d made the managerial change before the January transfer window or even during it, the weakness could have been addressed. But we didn’t and it wasn’t.

Hughes' post match interview on the official site sums up tonight, and the squad perfectly.
Momentum is a big thing at this stage of the season.
I agree we're not going to score many goals, but we're getting much harder to beat.

See even if we can continue this hard to beat thing whilst still being toothless, it’s at least something to build on for next season.

I did like tonight. We’d have 100% (sorry) lost that under Williamson.

You Carlisle fans want to be thankful to the Tranmere defender who slipped to give the handball penalty away otherwise the gap would be 5 points as that was the only way we were scoring,
