Dover v U's on the telly this evening but I've put it on record and printed out my footballgroundguide map - can't be doing with these new fangled sat-nav things. Looks like a pleasant afternoon/evening for a drive, provided the M25 behaves. Decisions still to be made on musical accompaniment.

Probably unrealistically and certainly uncharacteristically bullish for this one after the performance, as much as the result, at Crawley - and we're usually half decent away from the Abbey. Can't find many others making the trip but I'm sure the faithful will scrape 3 figures, even though it's on telly and nearly in France.

Happy with a win however it comes. Dover Athletic 1 - 2 Cambridge United 2, in 90 minutes, Legge and Berry for U's, Miller for the Whites.

Yep, has been noted on our forum. Derry has a ready made excuse for when we kick off around 41 hours after we end tonight. But there you go, we didn't have to accept the tv money but we did.

For what it's worth I think we'll win tonight in 90 minutes then I think we'll struggle on Saturday and I'll be delighted with a draw - we're shite at home anyway, playing tonight isn't exactly going to help that. I would add that I fancy us at Notts County on Tuesday to emphasise it's not all doom and gloom.

Miller showing his limitations tonight IMHO. He'll always score goals at that level and could probably be a reasonable League Two striker eventually but his all-round game is nowhere near good enough to go higher, nor does he have the raw physical attributes that helped people like Vardy and Gray to progress through the divisions.

Given how tired your players will be you must be relived that Wycombe play tippy tappy rather than an attritional physical game

Relieved and justified to get through. We weren't great at times but we had so many chances and it would have just been damn unlucky if we'd gone out.

Saturday will be what it is. Dunk and Taylor limped off, Ikpeazu hasn't shown that he can last two games in a week (though he still had legs left on 120 mins tonight which surprised me) and we're shocking at home. We'll see.

But I'm so pleased we're through. We've got a great chance against Coventry in the second round.

It was a definite pen but you can't get sent off for a foul that results in a penalty unless it is violent/dangerous play under the new rules, denying a clear goal scoring opportunity is only a red if it is outside the box.

Being through to play Coventry at the Abbey feels a lot better than the alternative, even though we're probably f*cked for saturday. Everyone gave everything. Unfortunately, that's the only way we win games with our current quality and form of players.

First time at a match where I've seen so many supporters aware of the official's f*ck ups so quickly through social media and streaming. I remember everyone standing up to see the replays when I was behind the (very open) media area at Goodison Park a few years back. Some seemed to be watching the match on TV rather than on the pitch in front of them.

Haven't had time to watch the game on telly but I hope our advice to the officials, especially the lino, didn't come over as too bitter.

Normal time was pretty painful, with little to excite, ( Edit: Looked a lot better on telly than 100yds away behind the wrong goal - oh for the days of wandering from the Steelworks End to the Holker Street End at half time) even though we could/should have had enough goals to wrap it up and prepare for saturday.

Once we got to extra time I was fairly confident especially as Miller had been "removed" (cracking Leon tackle). Extra time and a goal for Willo made the drive home most enjoyable.

Why would we be named after a castle that isn't even in Dover, particularly when we have a much better and more famous castle of our own?

Not sure that is totally correct. I did not see the penalty, so the decision may well have been correct, but the guidance suggests that it is not just violent/dangerous play:

IFAB Laws of the Game 2016/17, Law 12: Fouls and Misconduct. Under the subsection 'Denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity' the letter of the law is:
"Where a player commits an offense against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal- scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick the offending player is cautioned unless:
- The offense is holding, pulling or pushing or
- The offending player does not attempt to play the ball or there is no possibility for the player making the challenge to play the ball

The following must be considered:
- Distance between the offence and the goal
- General direction of the play
- Likelihood of keeping or gaining contact with the ball
- Location and number of defenders."

I think its true that you can still be sent off if you absolutely deliberately handle the ball on the line, preventing a goal.
