Posted the below on the Colchester match thread and on my fan page on Facebook but thought I'd post it here as well.
When my Bury team faced Colchester in 2013 we dominated for 90 mins barring two Colchester shots that both lead to goals. I asked for passion, commitment and of course pure dedication to the fantastic Bury fans that day and it was duly provided, the only thing that let us down was a failure to score and a failure of the linesman to spot a ball that had gone over the line. All that was managed with a garbage team of players and against a revitalised Colchester team.
Flitcroft had a much better group of players on saturday and aside from a twenty minute spell against one of the worst defences I have ever seen (I was at gigg lane scouting in case you are wondering) Bury lacked commitment and didn't seem bothered bar Leon Clarke and Jones.
This merely proves that I am a better manager than Flitcroft and had it been me in charge on saturday we'd have kept it tight so it wouldn't have been 2-0 and I would have been hoofing the ball forward and making their back four work as hard as possible so most likely the result would have been a convincing 4-0 home win rather than the flattering 5-2 (2-0 down in 20 mins was pathetic btw).
Our singing section were embarrasing with their needless goading and gloating towards an understandably tiny away following and then taunts about them going down and being rubbish etc. As an ex employee of BFC I can only apologise.
If Bury have turned the corner they will at the very least avoid defeat on Tuesday and not capitulate Coventry style at Wigan.
