We could even win this. Kerrigan seems to have rediscovered some of his form - he's taken 3-3 after taking 4 wickets in the first innings...

"Counties that are not hosting any games will receive somewhere in the region of £1.3m"

It would be interesting to know how that compares to the revenue the Blast generated for the smaller counties this season. The fact that most of the smaller counties reportedly voted in favour suggests this is a decent deal for them.

Nottingham will get a team and for that reason alone, I am in favour of it.

Steven Davies signs for Somerset for the next 3 years, happy with that.

Very happy with that, looks like he's coming he to put the gloves back on too. Partner for Allenby at the top of the order in limited over cricket as well? Middle order batsman or all round would now be my wish for an overseas full season player as our bowling has been decent this year. Would like an overseas bowler brought in for T20 though.

Lancashire sent in Buttler to open...
Gone now though so hopefully Lancashire can bat out the rest of the day without too much trouble.

Bristol should do as well I imagine, given that a lot of people in central Bristol don't support a county as it's not part of Somerset or Gloucestershire. The CG is in Bristol so that'd be fine.

Can't remember where but I read that they're considering going for a Wales based team rather than Bristol

Anyway, Curran looks like seeing Surrey home with the bat after tearing shit up with the ball. Never thought I'd fawn after a Surrey player as much... For England reasons though, obviously.

We've got some serious talent coming through, both with bat & ball, plus spinners. Chuck in the young players like Root, Stokes, Woakes, Bairstow, Buttler, who'll all be in their prime. Scary.

Surrey fall short, next tight chases down at Essex and Derbyshire

Sky seriously need to start showing more CC, even if it's just day 4 of a certain game. It's during the week so there's hardly anything else on, just cricket programmes about the past, reruns of football gold and other shit.

So for Somerset to win the title, they have to win their last game obviously.. But if Yorkshire beat Middlesex, we need to better yorkshires bonus points.. If Yorkshire and Middlesex draw, then if Middlesex don't get 2 more bonus points than us it would hand the title to us..

Think from a Somerset perspective a draw in that game would be more favourable? Providing of course we win!

I don't think that's going to be their logic.

At a guess

Nottingham
Birmingham
Manchester
Leeds
Cardiff
London (Lords)
Southampton
+ 1 other Southern side

That's exactly as I had it down and the other southern side being Bristol.

There's no way I would support any of those teams, so hopefully Bristol is included.

From the BBC website article yesterday.

"Matches will be played at Test grounds but will remain under the control of the ECB"

With nine test grounds there might be a team in the North East playing at Durham, or more likely two London teams with one at Lords and one at The Oval.

I'd save Lords as the ground for the final separately, make it mean a bit more to get to the final as getting to play at Lords with it not being used in the groups, The Oval for a London based team would be fine.

Duckett included in both squads. Fantastic for him and Northants. Also his contract extension is 99% done apparently, with the understanding he can seek IPL cricket. Fair enough if that's what we've got to do to keep him.

I thought Duckett was nailed on for the ODI squad but I'm a bit surprised to see him included in the Test squad, but the lad is obviously very talented so good luck to him. Jennings can count himself very unlucky not to make the test squad ahead of Duckett.

It's not often I take exception to what the selectors do, but Batty, FFS!

Hopefully Batty is last choice out of the 4, Leach has to be going with the Lions now. How I think England will line up:

1) Cook
2) Hameed
3) Root
4) Bairstow
5) Buttler
6) Stokes
7) Ali
8) Rashid
9) Woakes
10) Broad
11) Anderson

I don't see much point in taking Buttler unless they're actually planning on playing him, if it were to be back up with the gloves to Bairstow then Duckett could have that covered, to me it implies he'll play. Bairstow's excellent form could easily see him move up to 4.

ODI:

1) Roy
2) Vince
3) Root
4) Duckett
5) Buttler
6) Stokes
7) Dawson
8) Willey
9) Woakes
10) Wood
11) Rashid

Yeah Buttler is skipper for ODI's the part about him was referring to the test team really, ah right so ODI side just swap Vince and Duckett or push Root down to 4.
