No i go and watch England that's the country I'm from , the country I follow and country I support that's generally the idea.

Isn't that what I just said? I want England to win but for me, enjoying the cricket is the main thing. You have a different approach. Why do you have such a problem with me enjoying cricket on a slightly different level? Why does it matter to you?

That's an absolute pasting in what looked like a brilliant atmosphere. English batting got a bit lost and the bowling was absolute shite tbh.
Can't wait for the next tours and hopefully seeing Duckett and Leach given a go.
And Hildreth ( I'm eternally optimistic) :animatedf:

I don't have a problem with it I could understand if you went to watch south Africa v zew Zealand for example a match you would have no interest in other than enjoying the day out. But surely England winning is whats most important in games were involved in the end and makes it enjoyable would you not agree.

Somerset got the 2 wickets they needed to win the game, will have to beat Yorkshire to give ourself a a chance at the title.. But happy with the progress they've made since last year in this format.

Do agree with what you've said, not that I was ever planning on going last night but I'm glad I didn't waste a lot of money to watch England get hammered and to be surrounded by celebrating Pakistanis who are the opposition.

Personally I watch in hope of watching England win, given I'm English and care massively about English cricket (maybe it so much one off T20s, they're only a bit of fun). It's the same with football as well, I don't buy a season ticket or travel away most weeks to watch the opposition.

DUCKETT FOR ENGLAND. If Morgan isn't going to Bangladesh Ben absolutely has to, even if Morgan goes Ben has to go. He's an unreal player and apparently close to signing a new deal which would be huge for us.

Don't blame Morgan at all, especially given his history in Asia (I still don't really understand why England are touring there). It certainly opens the door for Bairstow, Duckett and Billings though, Morgan would be naïve to think his place won't be in massive danger now - especially If someone like Root/Buttler easily replace his average captaincy capabilities.

There's a higher threat level in London ffs. The players won't have an issue. But I agree it's making people uncomfortable just fuck it off , shame really I was hoping to do the 2 odi in Dhaka

I read today Morgan was close to a couple of terrorist attacks whilst playing in the IPL which maybe has added doubt into his mind.

Tough decision for him, because if he doesn't go and his replacement (in the batting line-up and captaincy) do well then he'll potentially lose him place.

not really comparable is it, you've got *a bit* more control over the quality of security arrangements in London.

Yes I know hence the next part of my post. I'd happily go still just waiting till the players are there then will book. To be honest bangladesh is hardly a terrorist capital is it but let's see what happens

I'm not saying don't go but I'd suggest you at least google the place before doing so. Foreign nationals have been targeted fairly regularly over the last 12 months.

In all honesty my plan is stay In the hotel which serves beer and has a pool so happy days and just cab to the cricket. 4 day trip. I've not looked though tbh about what your saying. Giving into those c*** is not in my nature though but understandably is a concern for people

Morgan officially withdraws then, must say it'd be a bit hypocritical if he rocks up in the IPL next year now after citing events whilst playing in India as reasoning. Buttler handed the captaincy, can't say I'm a fan of keepers captaining in 50 over cricket when you have to constantly give instructions to bowlers (maybe Bairstow will keep wicket though)

Hales and Morgan decided not to tour Bangladesh. Probably the end of both Morgan's international career, and Hales' test career; at least for the foreseeable future.

As far as replacements go, you can't look any further than DBD and Duckett. Bayliss said the other day that he wouldn't hesitate in picking the 19 year old opener who I'm not familiar with that has had a good summer presumably, but you have two ready made like-for-like replacements there who should be eager to take their chance.

Assuming you mean Hameed, it looks like he'll be picked for the tests but he's never played a senior one day game so he won't be in the limited overs squads.

Lost in the t20 semi final, lost in the 50 over semi final and now looking like lost the title In the 2nd last game. Bit of a disaster when it came down to it

You'll never beat the year we came 2nd in all formats one year!

Great day for us, but won't get my hopes up just yet as it can all change... Shame that Middlesex are going well but hopefully that will end in a draw.

If that ends in a draw it will probably still be in our hands if we can manage 3 Bowling points but that's unlikely

You'll get the bowling points I reckon, although the weather is supposed to be a lot better tomorrow so hopefully tres and Rodgers can kick on. Our middle order has been poor though this season.

For once though, our bowling attack has been immense this season.. Well happy with the progress in that because it's usually terrible.

Buttler named ODI captain - good choice for the long term if Morgan isn't selected again?

Certainly seems to be a lot of criticism for Morgan (less so Hales) from former players and captains..

Weathers beautiful for all 3 days you should get a very hefty lead then hopefully we can bat it out

Both players are well within their rights to not travel to a country that has a high risk of danger, particularly to high profile sports people. However, I don't see how Morgan could ever return as captain because the players would simply not respect him even if they are able to see why he's chosen not to travel. Quite surprised that Hales hasn't traveled considering his test place has been under threat for a while but certainly opens the door for more talent to come through the ranks

Jennings, Hameed and Gubbins are probably at least as high in the pecking order to be Cook's new opening partner and all possibly ahead of Bell-Drummond. Another double hundred for Jennings today in what had already been an excellent season.

On the subject of Durham, how sad to read that Borthwick is following Stoneman to moneybags Slurry next season. There really is very little to like about that County.

On Morgan, given how Strauss came out and said nothing would be held against a player who decided not to tour, unless Morgan's replacement averages 75 or something then in reality you have to think Morgan will be captaining the side in the next series. Whether he then loses it after that series is another matter though. Hales' replacement, I'd like to see the Lancs lad Hameed given a go in the tests and to be fair we are hardly short of good replacements for the limited overs side.

As for Somerset, great to see us still contending after the ending to the Warwickshire game and now having Yorkshire on the rocks. Think its just beyond our reach this year but good signs going into next season and Tres is already signed on for another year.
