They'll do 310 at a canter against these 4 seamers. Surely this was a pitch for Tredwell?

to be fair this is the same pitch that New Zealand swung it all over the place. However finn should be nowhere near a team with only 4 other proper bowlers and Broad with the new ball is another mystery.

David Saker having a job is 100x more confusing than even Moores and Downton.

Well, that was fucking embarrassing. No pride, no passion, went down with out a fight. Come home now lads, before you're humiliated further. Can anyone imagine what India or SA will do to that bowling attack on a flat wicket? Could be the first score of 500 in 50 over cricket.

Probably scrape into the quarter finals before being battered by another big nation.

We have no bowling threat what so ever. We will get SA in the QF and as someone above has said, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see all kinds of records broken.

I've never even been this disillusioned by the England football team, or Palace.

I eventually went to bed last night at the end of the 1st innings, thinking to myself that 309 was the best we could really have hoped for, but also knowing that is probably wasn't going to be enough. It's a tragic state of affairs when as a supporter, all you can think is "well if our batsmen managed to score 309, the Sri Lankans should have no problem reaching that."

We just have no idea of how to set up an ODI team. The continued selection of players like Ballance and Finn, the continued absence of Tredwell. It just makes us so predictable. The Sri Lankan batsmen admitted that they had more trouble with the Afghan bowlers.

We have some very good cricketers at our disposal, they're just not being utilised at all well by this management team.

No this wasn't the same pitch. That game was at the Basin Reserve and this was at the WestPac stadium, a fucken rugby stadium.

lot of rumours that there's going to be a big shake-up in May when Colin Graves takes over as the top guy at the ECB. Think they need to rebuild the management and coaching staff from scratch and have a look at the selection process too. That's the only way you can implement a more modern, attacking philosophy. I'd like to see a new captain too. It's alright saying there's no obvious candidates but no-one had Michael Vaughan down as a leader when he got it. Graeme Smith was young too. I think temperament is much more important than experience and Root's got the perfect temperament - quite extrovert and well-liked but very laid-back and never seems as if he's flustered or feeling the pressure.

So, Kevin Pietersen could be back in the frame. I think he's a complete c***, but with the state we are in at the moment, I think it's probably a good thing.

I sincerely hope those rumours are true. Ive thought for a while that the management, and coaching staff is the main problem. Every other country is leaving us behind, even NZ who used to be absolutely terrible!

This would be the best thing that could happen. I'd even accept losing one [or both] of the next two games and crashing out of the World Cup at the group stage if it put greater pressure on the ECB to make significant and immediate changes to the management structure.

Well yeah, I'd take that too, as if we reach the final 8 we'll be smashed for near on 500 anyway.

It's deeply concerning that that's actually a possibility.

Came in from a night out in Manchester on Sunday morning about 2 ish.

Saw England had reached 309. Celebrated whilst cleaning my teeth.

Had that horrible 4 hour sleep where you're barely asleep and your brain is still going from the night before. Dreaming of England picking up an easy win.

Get to my phone when i wake up. See Sri Lanka have hit 312-1 and won. Shrug.

.Even when De Villiers (by his standards) fails South Africa just have so much fire power in their batting line up at the top.

I don't think England would hit 411 against a village side.

India are demolishing the WIndies here. Gayle for the second wicket was a complete cock.

In the end India just about got through by 4 wickets though..

This tournament scheduling is a joke. It feels like there's about 4 months between every match we play. This should be almost over now, not still pissing around in the group stages. Surely well paid, well trained athletes could play a 50 over game every 3 days? You don't need a fecking week between every game.

I've not looked at a map but I'm assuming part of the problem is having is stretched across Australia and New Zealand. There's no way there needs to be over a week between matches in a tournament with 14 teams where you can play 2 matches a day.
