Where was this Roy in the Champions Trophy? He's only out of form when tournaments are approaching

Stokes allowed to play for England.

Innocent till proven guilty I guess but what charge would have meant he couldn't be selected ?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/42718484

Exactly why he should have been playing in Australia. Just booked flights for new Zealand for all 5 one dayers , decided it will be much better watching that than the 2 tests.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Not charged - can't play in the ashes.
Charged - yeah you can play now.

Muppets at the ECB.

Seems like he only got allowed back in because they were worried about legal action from Stokes' team..

Even now might still miss games due to court appearances.

There will only be 1 court appearance where he will plead no guilty until later in the year

England’s ODI side still going strong. Love watching us in the short forms. Shame we under achieved so much in the Champions Trophy as this team is possibly the best in the world in this format.

Thing is in a tournament 1 bad game and it's over however good you are. If we would of played Pakistan 10 times we would win about 8 of them.

Jofra Archer not being able to play for England until 2022 is gutting. What a player.

Reckon he won't wait around and will either end up playing for the Windies or go gallivanting around the globe earnings big bucks in the T20 leagues.

You know more than me I'm guessing but he's from Barbados so why would he play for us and not west Indies?

One of his parents is English and he's said for the last 2-3 years that he wanted to play for England. I think he fell out with the West Indies.

He's brilliant, he's my favourite player at the moment.

Fair enough, I didn't know hence me asking. Don't know anything about him at all, not really one for watching cricket unless it involves England or Yorkshire.

I haven't seen much of him for Sussex but his record is superb. He's been brilliant in the BBL - a genuinely brilliant fielder and the type of fast bowler we're crying out for.

Too long to wait anyway, if he's fell out with West Indies and he's been good in the bb looks like he may as well go down the t20 route.

Wouldn't be surprised if he did but there's no reason he can't do both if he wants to - he can stay with Sussex and still play in all the T20 leagues. This is the catch he took the other day but there's loads of great stuff he's done.

Quality that, we've actually got some major issues in the bowling department as none coming through look anything special, when jimmy goes it could be quite disastrous as broad won't be too far behind either.

Dad was born in England and fell out with the Windies as he was dropped by their U-19s and got an invite from Chris Jordan to come and have a trial for Sussex.

I'll be honest, don't massively get the necessity of the ECB's residency rules considering he has an English parent and a British passport.

Meanwhile, compare it to Brad Shields in Rugby who has an English mum, turned down the chance to be an All Black recently and is going to come over and slot straight into the number 6 shirt you would assume. Happy days.

It's down to the ecb why he can't play not some worldwide rule?

Yeah, it's an ECB rule. I don't know if it's an attempt to not piss off other countries or a concern that players coming over would stop homegrown players or if it's something else entirely.

ECB extended the residency rule from 4 years to 7 a few years back (it's different for under 18s I think which is why the Curran boys became eligible in 2015). You have to spend 210 days a year in the country too which is why the T20 stuff may cause issues.

So if for example a player who is not centrally contracted moved abroad and didn't live here for 210 days would he not be allowed to play?

I assume it only applies to players who are planning to become eligible for a new country.

Cheers. If one of his parents Is English it shouldn't matter where he lives surely.

I guess although I reckon you could still play in 3 (maybe more) overseas T20 tournaments and still spend enough time in England to qualify.

Butler and Woakes with the big scores today.

Don't think the Aussies are going to take this defeat well.
