Not a lot of tempo there . I think we need a bit more balance within the top three although all 3 are fine players. Perhaps move root to open or give Lyth an extended crack at opening .

I think Ballance can score quickly to if he needs to, but yeah it's not the most dynamic of top orders. I'd be happy enough to see Lyth get a shot, but then who loses out?

I wouldn't want Root opening. He looks comfortable in the middle order and last time he moved to open it didn't go so well. Don't fix what ain't broken.

It's harsh but maybe trott has to miss out for lythe given that Cook is rightly undropable at the moment and ballance has done really well at 3 . I'm fairly certain that trott would score a stack of runs on this tour but I think it's important that lyth gets a good opportunity ahead of a testing summer if that's the way we're going to go .

I certainly agree that whatever direction we intend to go in for the summer, we should start to put in place now.

Paul Downton has just left the ECB. Could this mean a return for KP?!

Yes! Just seen the news as it popped up on my phone.. Haven't seen the details of whether he quit or got sacked, but it's fucking fantastic news!

Hopefully moores and Whittaker follow suit.

Moores definitely needs to go as well, failed first time round and having a miserable time of it this time round.

Moores didn't have time to fail first time right and he should get a chance before they sack him, he's been in the job for less than a year and I don't think that many of the current problems are actually his fault. I don't know if he really deserves a proper chance, but it'd be stupid not to give him one. Downton was a joke though, and it's time for Whittaker to move on.

Moores main problem is that he has one plan and players stick to that plan even though they shouldn't, England players need that bit of freedom to react to game situations and not just plod on.

Hopefully Moores since end of world cup has learnt his lesson that his statistics based cricket is garbage and let the England players just play to their strengths !

What do people think about Michael Vaughan having a bigger role in English cricket? Personally, I think he'd make an ideal replacement for Moores or the new position they're creating.

I would get rid of Moores and stick Michael Vaughan in charge, he would do a very good job !

I'd definitely have Vaughan involved but probably not as head coach. I'm don't think he's done any coaching yet , could be wrong though .

I think his knowledge would make him a natural leader as a coach !

Richie Benaud has died, aged 84. Was battling skin cancer in the last few years. Proper gent, thoroughly recognisable voice on the com box for many, many years.

RIP.

Yeah, RIP Richie. A terrible shame.

As for Vaughan, I'd definitely have him involved. He was one of the biggest voices in the opposition of downtown, Whittaker etc. changed would happen with that man involved .

Great commentator and player, his voice is cricket.

Definitely. When you think of cricket coverage, you think of Richie Benaud. It's been a few years since he last commentated, and there are some really popular commentary teams covering cricket at the minute, yet the voice of cricket is still Richie Benaud, and I think that says an awful lot about the man.

As for replacing Downton, I think Vaughan would have a lot to offer English cricket moving forward, but we need to see the details of this new role before anything else is decided. How 'hands-on' the role turns out to be in terms of dealing with the actual team will have a big influence over whether someone like Vaughan takes the job.

R.I.P Richie Benaud, very good player and best commentator cricket could have ever wished for ! A natural and his dry sense of humour was brilliant.

McCullum requires 10 off 3 balls for his 100.

2 of the most ridiculous shots for 6 and 4, the paddle over the head, the first one text book, the second one ridiculous! He then gets the 100 with a quick single off the last ball of the innings.

Brilliant innings in the IPL!
He is ridiculously good , when he's on the charge there is literally nowhere to bowl to him . I'm loving where the likes of mccullum , de villiers , mAxwell, Miller and others are taking the game .
