If NZ can chase 300+ in 50 overs, I think they can do it with 77 if they really go for it. It's whether they're happy to take the draw or not

FUCKING DECLARE you negative bastards

Nothing negative about that at all. The second new ball had gone so a couple more overs doesn't really matter. Anderson was hardly blocking and wasting deliberirs. Chance your hand and throw the bat

Going to be close. Could do with either a magic broad spell or Ali finding turn. Be interesting to see how much it will turn for Ali. He'll get good bounce and drift up the slope.

New Zealand will try and chase this. I love test cricket

Thank fuck he's just cleaned up the tail - should have declared before play this morning.

77 Overs left - doubt there's going to be a result.

Everything is so negative with Cook - he doesn't have the bollocks to play risk Cricket and dangle the carrot for them and let us have a go for the win.
Again I don't get this. New Zealand would have chased 300 down easily. Especially as there wasn't any cloud cover first thing

Throwing the bat for an hour was the right decision. An extra 50 runs gives you a slip cordon for longer.

The tests average run rate has been around 4. NZ need 4.5 and they are a positive side. They'll go got it.

Make no mistake we need early wickets

Chasing 300 would of meant risk Cricket and a fair bit of swinging the bat at it, and knowing McCullum as a captain he'd probably of instructed his players to go for it.

345 I agree is a score they won't be able to achieve in 77 overs, so there aren't going to be any cheap Wickets.

Need to make much more effective use of the New Ball than we did last innings - can't allow that opening partnership to go on.

Need early breakthroughs.

Absolutely we need to get into them quick. We need to be into McCullum and Taylor within 20-25 overs I think

Taken at third slip too! That third slip will stay in for longer with those extra runs

Full, on the stumps, swinging away, brings all possible Wickets into play.

Well taken by Ballance as well it must be said.

Get Williamson out quickly and we start dreaming.

I feel for broad. Anyone who followed TFF knows im a staunch broad fan. He's quickly climbing the all time wicket taker list and is often overlooked

I suggest he retires from odi and t20 to prolong his test career.

That was a terrific delivery.

Why have we got a 3rd man in?

Surely it's sensible to have an extra catcher - have have absolutely nothing to lose, and should be trying to keep the early pressure on.

Also, as also has been said on the Tele, the slips need to move up for Williamson, he's already edged one and it had dropped short, he defends the ball with very soft hands.

If you want to take 10 wickets you have to hold on to those

Another great delivery though

Hopefully get Williamson out quickly too and then we must have a chance.

Got to take every chance though - Root missed a sitter.
