How is Batty managing to get so little turn on this wicket?

Broad's totally lost all of his rhythm, looks a shadow of himself when on form.

Impressive little spell at the end of the day from Stokes, but England need quick wickets or else an embarassing loss is on the cards with how poorly we bat when the ball turns.

Well in Stokes, needed that wicket at the end badly.

Bangladesh's day but if we can keep them below 350 we're still well in it, wouldn't fancy chasing 200+ here

Great bowling display from New Zealand - might be a bit of a blueprint for England

Quite astonishing how poorly our spinners have bowled so far. Batty completely ineffective considering the conditions. Moeen with some great balls but following it up with dross and Rashid bowling some absolute shite tbh. Rashid especially should be having a great time on this surface but it seems he struggles with the expectation when he's on a spinning wicket. His length and pace were all over the place.
Can only wonder at the carnage Leach would have caused. Sighs.

Do you ever have anything positive to say about things.

he doesn't.

Broad is clearly a cricketer on the decline though and has been for a while. Anyone that brings up the fact he's not *that* old, I have but two words - Steve Harmison.

Really? He didn't have the best summer by his standards but it's not that long ago since he was ripping it up in SA.

Anyway, great effort this morning to skittle them out with a fair sized lead, Stokes reversing it beautifully as he did last night. So long as we don't do anything stupid with the bat (doesn't exactly go without saying!) we've got this in control.

Will 150-170 be enough?

We might as well start with 2 wickets down....

I'm mainly biased against him because he's a fucking camel every time he turns up for Notts. He's not had a great season though and his pace is down (not that he was ever a McGrath type that ripped it down at 90+ is his youth)

That Bairstow world record is a bit surprising, would've assumed someone like Gilchrist or Sangakara would've had a couple of big years with the bat.

He was number 1 test bowler in the world earlier is year. He had a solidly season if not spectacular, it wasn't terrible. Not sure Saddler or anyone should read much into a sub continent performance with minimal warmup (Stokes and Woakes have played ODI cricket)

He's fine.

With the Bairtstow record, we've played a ridiculous number of test matches is calendar year. Was is 17 or something?! That'll have a lot to do with it

6 of those to come still, he's going to absolutely smash it.

Averaging 77 in 2016, quite incredible really. Especially when he was widely considered not good enough first time around

He's done it in 11 tests flower got the same in 9 tests. The next on the list is over 250 behind after 9 tests so it's not down to extra tests really it's just brilliant batting

Ah that's some consistency I have to say. His glove work is rapidly improving to so now at expense of that side of the game

Could be looking at 280-300 here which should be more than enough. Very good performance

Top stuff from Stokes. And bairstow, this game is won now imo. Probably will upset the likes of Saddlerrad as he can't fucking moan.

300 would've killed the Test here, hopefully we can put on another 20 or 30. Bangladesh shouldn't be able to get 258 anyway though.

I hope the other 2 pitches are like this one!

Indeed.

Stuart Broad

Career bowling in Tests 358 wickets @ 28.55, last 12 months (14 tests) 49 wickets @ 24.26

The only thing in decline is his batting.

Rashid's control is nothing like good enough to be a front line spinner in test cricket. He looks okay in pyjama cricket with the protection of defensive fields but he doesn't have the control to bowl maidens or put batters under any sustained pressure when more attacking fields are in place.

Can only wonder at the carnage Leach would have caused. Sighs.

Surprised you've missed the opportunity to big up Hildreth for the number four spot. ;)

Well, quite. Hildreth would have been a far better choice than Ballance. Better player of spin, better record. I could go on ...
I'm not quite sure why Ballance is in the side. Surely Hameed opens and Duckett comes in at 4?
