Lets face it this has been coming for a few years, last season was possibly a fluke ,but there have been quite a few close shaves these last few years

Can't argue with that , we've flirted with relegation out of Div 2 too many times over the last fifteen years, in the end you run out of luck just as we did in Div 1 a couple of years ago.
The biggest load of rubbish talked about is that getting relegated will somehow make us stronger and give us a chance to build a better club. Seen us relegated plenty of times, never has it helped us.

A lot of clubs have had plenty of close shaves, we have indeed had more than our fair share in recent times.

It’s our turn like it was other clubs turns before us

After many many years of dreading the inevitable defeat to Notts County it does feel great to finally get over it with back to back home wins against them.

I just don't know what went wrong with them yesterday. We cruised to a 3-0 win and we played well but it was just so easy. With the experience and nous in that County side I was expecting them to fight a lot more and bag three points for themselves but I couldn't believe they lacked any sort of tactical nous and desire to graft out a result.

Me neither, they showed plenty of spirit with 10 men last week, even if Crewe did knock it about nicely I’d have expected our midfield three to close them down better and try to dominate the centre of the park. I was right tho - we played Crewe a week late!

As for ‘this has been coming’, well not really - we only had one serious brush with relegation from L2 over 10 years ago when we stayed up on the last day against Bury. Next closest was 2 years ago in Nolan’s first season, but we stayed up more than comfortably in the end.

We were very close under Gudjon to going down, close under McParland and the Trust, never comfortable under Thommo and deep in it until Nolan turned us around two seasons ago. We had to sack Moniz to keep us out of the battle under Trew.
Last season was the blip, we haven't had a comfortable mid table building for the future season in Div 2 in all the years I've been going, it's either boom or bust.

We were pap in those times for sure but were never really in serious danger of dropping out, apart from the Gudjon season, and that was 13 years ago now. Since then we spent 5 seasons in L1.

It has been a pretty crappy period though since we got promoted under Allardyce, the Munto season aside, there’s no doubt about that!

Must admit, I really did feel for the 1000+ Notts County fans who turned up on Saturday. Felt if Hemmings would have converted his chance, it could have been game on to try and get a result because apart from that, you were never really in the game. It will be a shame to see such as well-supported club replaced by the likes of Salford or Solihull!

Can only really echo the comments - Lowery, Wintle and Kirk were all different class and really controlled the game. Owen Dale also made another great cameo appearance from the bench and did what Ainley failed to do in 65 minutes. Also pleased Artell has stood his ground and left out Ray and Bowery who seem to be off at the end of the season.
