Ah, the annual reminder that nobody has suffered more than Wimbledon and their phoenix club.
For example we slid through three divisions, nearly went bust twice, nearly lost our ground, multiple winding up orders, had an idiot owner most of our fans worshipped and couldn't pay the players wages, but nobody has suffered more than Wimbledon thanks to their media pals.

Come on Ramsgate.

I made the mistake of watching tonight's match on iPlayer. I should have watched Scotland v England.

Wooh.

Would've thought Crewe v Brizzle R would be a better chance of an upset

How long does it take the FA to decide whether a team should remain in the cup or be kicked out...this has now dragged on for five days!

They’ve made a decision on that already but want to announce the 10 point deduction at the same time

Same old FA, taking the piss
(from their website, not a word from FGR so far)

"A Professional Game Board Sub-Committee has ordered the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper tie between Forest Green Rovers and Scarborough Athletic to be replayed on Tuesday 12 December at 19:45.

The FA charged Forest Green Rovers for fielding an ineligible player in the Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper tie against Scarborough Athletic, which constitutes a breach of FA Cup Rule 109, and Forest Green Rovers subsequently admitted this charge.

Forest Green Rovers will now play away to Scarborough Athletic in a one-off match on Tuesday 12 December, and the winner will travel away to Blackpool for a Second Round Proper match on Tuesday 19 December.

I'm sure Blackpool are delighted to be pissed about like this.

Wonder how different to Barnsley.

And yet Barnsley took the rap and Horsham took their place against Sutton. Why do FGR get another chance? Surely Scarborough should be allowed to play Blackpool?
Apparently it’s because the illegible player was just in the squad for FGR but didn’t actually play ?

Fuck knows, I've given up trying to understand it. Latest word from those who claim to be in the know is that a player we have on loan from Hull (who played for most of the first game and the replay) wasn't registered properly, nothing to do with the emergency loan keeper, nothing to do with the youth player.

Although *formally* we broke a different FA rule (109) from Barnsley (103), and apparently we appealed, whereas they didn't, I'm still not sure why we just didn't throw our hands in the air and let Scarborough A go through.

Actually it's Scarborough I feel sorry for. They're in whatever league without a pot to piss in and they have to play another match which they'll probably lose.

Barnsley picked a player who was blatantly ineligible to play, while FGR seemingly just got some paperwork over slightly late or incomplete - that’s the distinction. Barnsley didn’t even try to check whether their player was eligible but FGR presumably had all the permissions to pick their loan player but fell foul of an admin error.

That seems like the correct answer and explains the different treatment. Blackpool are going to have a really congested schedule over this. Shouldn't think we're a shoo-on either given the original away tie and, well, us.
