Hoping that city would equalise, but WHU really disappointing, hoof ball and no finesse, first half decent, second half scrappy. Maybe City are beginning to feel the pace.

City gave a good account of themselves but faded a little second half. Sakho made the difference with the extra touch of class.

I liked ayling first half and freeman had a lot of the ball but couldn't find that crucial through ball.

Matt smith and flint are certainly a handful at set pieces!

Nice touch on the red and white scarves, but it did make the place look a little 'where's wally'

Felt Freeman had a bit of an off day, not that he played badly. If we'd have made the most of one of the openings in the first half, we'd have stood a far better chance of winning.

The loss is a bit harsh on us, but that's what having players like Sakho and Carroll does to a team. They had more surety in the final third.

Oh well, we gave it a good old go. Time to focus on our league campaign now.

Played well there. 2nd half we tired but then West Ham could hardly have played as badly for another 45 minutes.

Good job we haven't got a replay I think.

We lost for two reasons. Firstly, JET and Freeman failed to create anything on the at least dozen occasions they broke past the midfield in the first half. Secondly, a Premiership ref in charge of Premiership players let them stop those breaks in the second half with clear fouls. Guaranteed booking at a League One level but obviously not to Mr Mason.

We matched West Ham all the way and god help English football if that is the seventh best team in the so called World's best league. They were organised but absolutely no star quality until Sakho came on.

In general we need to create more through the middle instead of relying on headers from crosses. Best players on the day were the three defenders, Smith and Bryan.

Edit: I also note Carrolls two handballs on our goal line and in the build up to the goal. WH got lucky.

Glad someone else can see it. Freeman, and JET for that matter, should have created far more from their breaks in the first half. Freeman isn't half as good as people make out, and won't make it at higher levels, until he does that on a regular basis instead of an ineffective step over to look good.

God your Freeman bashing is boring.....anyway gave a really good account of ourselves just lacked the killer ball. As been said LF and JET had plenty of opportunities to create something but picked the wrong option. We were comfortable defensively and thought Saville looked a class act. Should of got a replay at least, glad we didn't. On to Thursday, although just want to get back to league action really.

Yeah, I wanted the win, but a replay would have been a real nuisance.

Wanting him to improve isn't bashing him. I'm sure he could accept the constructive criticism to reach his potential.

Freeman tried too hard today and his first touch let him down, shame that as he'd have done very well otherwise. JET was off his game and didn't run at players from the edge of the box as he would in league games.

Korey Smith deserves a mention, quality play from him and have a number of WHU players a problem when he was close by. Good on the ball (as usual) too.

We were unfortunate certainly today but I can live with being out TBH.
We didn't let ourselves down and were the better side for 45 minutes against the side supposedly one of the better sides in the Prem.
No replay is a bonus as far as I'm concerned as we were never going to win the FA cup but can now concentrate on getting to Wembley in the JPT and the main aim of getting out of L1.

Very harsh on us that. Said just before the goal I'd be gutted if we didn't win it which we probably should have done. Great performance, first half hour especially we completely outplayed them but just lacked that final ball, JET and Freeman in particular. Though it has to be noted they were given far, far less time on the ball in the final third than they would normally, the difference in defending was stark.

At the back we were comfortable, Fielding barely had a save to make. Just a couple of flashes of quality from Sakho made the difference. Korey Smith was again outstanding, outshone Song all game, whilst Saville looked excellent - strong, tidy on the ball, similar to Smith in many ways.

Ah well, we did ourselves proud. May be a blessing in disguise given the replay would've been 3 days before the MK game. Guess it'll just be the double then! :)

Didn't deserve to lose imo, first half we were by far the better team. Second half we tired which was to be expected, but we still limited them to 2 chances.

3 cb's plus Bryan played well, little had an off game. Freeman had an off day, but was still better than JET (though JET can do no wrong accordingn to TTOCS)

Why do you lot persevere with the digs at me? I have quite clearly stated at least twice above that JET didn't play well today. So I really don't know where you get your bracketed sentence from?

PS but as you mention it, JET also created our best chance for Bryan.

As long as you keep having digs about our best, and most consistent player of the season, you'll get digs back at you. Your logic about freeman not being good enough is because he doesn't score as much as you think he should. Bizarre.

So you can't accept a differing opinion about a football player on a football forum? Interesting. I'm sorry I don't love Freeman as much as you but I believe Korey Smith is consistently our best player. Freeman doesn't score enough but I have never said he isn't 'good enough', so yet again I don't know what you are going on about. I feel I should be able to write my opinion on Bristol City without digs at me and I'm sure most would agree.

West ham may be in trouble from Senegal over Sakho. Some nonsense about him not going to the African nations cup when he was injured or something.

Potential for City to get a reprieve?

Of course I can accept someone with a different opinion of me, if it has more of a basis other than "doesn't score enough" behind it. Every single game though you always slag him off, and compare him against JET. Every single game. As David said, getting boring now.

Then I'm afraid you will have to put me on 'ignore' if that is possible, because I'll continue to write my opinion. And if that happens to be about Freeman because he broke through many times without creating anything then so be it.

West Ham are in control over that issue. He's contracted to West Ham and they're paying his wages. They can't be forced to allow him to play for Senegal and let's be honest, it isn't the first time a player/club has feigned an injury to get out of international games.

Wouldn't want us to be reinstated for off field reasons and certainly a rematch would be to our disadvantage.

Then I hope you do! ;)

All joshing aside I was quite impressed by City and sky could do worse than moving our game for tv. Should be a corker.

Gave a good account of ourselves infront of the camera's, and went out of the competition, good day really.

We needed to score when we were on top, but sometimes missed the killer pass.

Very impressive today, a good game to watch from a City perspective.

I totally agree with you TTOCS, we got beaten and that's the end of it. We do not need another game.
The only problem is the MK v Chesterfield game may have set a precedent and our game may end up being replayed. I hope this isn't the case though.
On the City v Swindon game, I would be very surprised if Sky don't move it for television.

Congratulations to Bradford. Must be one of the biggest upsets of all time.
I especially like the fact that Bradford are a club that has slashed its season ticket pricing, and seems particularly friendly to its own and visiting supporters.
I'm puzzled that there is no FA Cup thread in the Premiership sub-forum on here. Yet lots of discussion about the important things in life....like whether Man Utd will finish above Liverpool. Because in the big play of things, that's what 99.9% of football fans are interested in.
