Yep, what I want to know is whether or not Adam Stag goes with his native cob or has he been Manc'd to the point that it's a barm?

Good lord no.

Not having any of that.

Bap, Barm, Batch, Cob, Roll, Bun etc etc are all fine regional variations.

But it is not a Cake. I think we can all agree that, unless your birthdays were very very disappointing.

The big question looms.

Is it a penny floater or a flyaway?

Are the Barrow Yoofs gonna be giving us cutthroat gestures while walking into Holker Street again next season?

Nah, they’ve all turned 12 since the last time we played you.

If any of Dale, Oldham or Bury were still here, they'd tell you that north of the city centre it's called a "muffin".

Perhaps this explains why they're all where they are

You are right it is not a cake. I was a baker back in my early working life and I can confirm a Cob is either a small round loaf of bread or it could be a small bread roll. Both are known as cobs.

My first job as a kid was in Middlewich and for the 5 years I worked there, we used to regularly go the local bakery for a bacon bap. Never heard it called anything else bar a bacon butty.

Wherever I've lived/worked in Cheshire be it Crewe, Nantwich, Middlewich, Chester, Macclesfield etc it's always a bap round here. Never heard batch or bun.

When I lived in Manchester though barm was definitely the word and when I lived down South it was "roll".

If someone asks for a sausage roll what do they get?
It’s not an open to the public Bakery it’s a massive industrial one on the Docks.
Just makes bread/ciabattas/rolls etc for all the major Supermarkets.

So would you say you're a pretty big wheel at the cracker factory?
